Northwestern Struggles Against Purdue - Gets Overtime Big 10 Win

After dropping their first Big 10 game, Northwestern traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana to face the Purdue Boilermakers.

The offense would struggle running the ball and struggle mightily at passing the ball, completing just 26 of 44 passes but even worse was the ungodly amount of sacks the Wildcat offensive gave up. By the end of the day, the Purdue defense would record a mindboggling 14 sacks.

During the day that will now forever be known as "The Day of Staring At the Sky" as play after play, the Purdue defense destroyed Northwestern's QBs as they tried to pass the ball.

On the first play from scrimmage, Senior QB, and leader of the Wildcats' offense, Mike Kafka suffered a broken rib and wasn't seen again for the day. In his place, Junior backup Joe Mauro would be the one to lead the Wildcats' offense today.

Unfortunately for Joe, the Purdue defense had other ideas. 14 sacks later and a NCAA game record broken, Joe Mauro will forever remember the color of the sky that day.

In the end, the game would come down to overtime as Purdue would march down the field and score twice in the 4th quarter to send the game to overtime tied 24-24.

The Northwestern defense would hold in overtime, forcing the Boilermakers to kick a FG, which they would subsequently miss, leaving the door open for the Wildcats to win the game, and that they did.

The Wildcats come out and run the ball right down the Boilermaker's throats and into the endzone, winning the game in overtime 30-24.

    Offensive Player of The Game

Jeremy Ebert - 6 receptions for 90 yards and 2 TDs

    Defensive Player of The Game

Corey Wootton - 9 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack

    NorthWestern vs Penn State

This game started going downhill for penn state really fast,a tip passed that ended up into NW hands help the west jump to a 14-0 lead in the first qtr,by halftime it was 35-7 penn state had no answer to the Wests defense.

    Good game masterboros.

up next will be a tough one vs the Iowa.

In the replay you can see when your CB gets up after making the tackle he realizes the WR has the ball and he just bends over and says"fuuuuuccccckkkkk". that game was a great game. good luck the rest of the way.

The West just sign two new recruits J.Corbett a 297Lbs Tackle and W.Glover a 300 Lbs Center. We realy didnt need a center but seeng as both centers are Jrs this year and one might leave for the draft early this year,we felt we needed to recruit atleast 1 this year and look for another next year.

The recruiting this year is hard as usual, no one with above average talent wants to acknoledge that we are a team.we are mostly hoping depending on how this season ends the offseason recruiting and/or Transfers from the bigger programs that we may be able to attract some good players mostly on the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively we look very good especially when we have injuries to pivotal parts of our offense Our Hb Simmons and Wr Brown both will likely be back next year which will definately be a huge plus.

E.Watkins have steped up big time for a freshman quaterback making very good throws but he holds on to the ball a little longer than we had hoped, which he has corrected in the pass few weeks. We didnt expect the Freshman to have the kind of year hes having starting him over the other Qbs was basically a move to get him as much experience for the future.Seem to have paid off because he played 3 great quarters in the horseshoe with a sub par 4th quarter minus "the play".

We are currently tied for first place in the big ten, and the main gold as of right now is to win the big ten and the best way to do that is to win out. We have some good games ahead of us and some that will be challenging. we are looking forward to each game as they arrive.no team in the dynasty has not been looked over and no team in the dynasty as not been scouted.Football is not played on paper but we feel we have a shot at beating each team on our schedule if we minimize our mistakes and maximize theres. The best players dont win games, the best team does, so thats how we are gonna apporach the rest of the year.

Big lost today,42-28 ,horrible game defensively, we couldnt stop the option run.two huge turnovers in the first half that resulted both in 14pts.We had 10 drop passes throughout the game and a few over throws.at half time i believe we were down 21-14 at half.couldnt narrow the lead we got within 7 with 4 mins left but when we needed the defense to make a stop we couldn't. terrible game but its time to get ready for purdue.

Great game by Bdon and PSU they did everything they needed to get themselves into a position to win the game.

Big win today, hats off to those guys in the locker room.Last week we couldnt stop the run today i believe we limited purdue to -29 yards rushing.E.Watkins also stepped up after throwing 3Ints and 0tds last week he came back and threw 4 tds.We ran the ball i believe a total of 40 times and racked up over 200 yards in that area. Our defensive captain Browne had an animalistic game he had 3 sacks and he got to the QB on everyother play planting him in the dirt.Purdue is a Good team, they are just in a slump and it doesnt get better for them because illinois is up next.

I believe After that game we have the sack leader in the B10 In browne and The number 1 QB in the nation E.Watkins.Next week We travel to Indian on paper it looks like it should be a easy game but thats how You get that off game. on offense its seems that all they have is a really good running game.Looks like a community backfield, when they throw it seems like its usually to the wrong jerseys. so we will try to force them to throw more than run.

I believe as of right now there is a 3 way tie for the B10 after the sim we'll see if its still that way.
