    Notre Dame - 38
    #4 West Virginia - 34

WVU jumped out early, as Notre Dame couldn't stop the spread rushing attack of the Mountaineers. For the game, WVU had 4 rushing plays of 50 yards or longer. This forced Notre Dame to pass the ball. Unfortunately, Notre Dame receivers kept dropping passes and Clausen threw some bad passes which were intercepted by the defense. Down by 17 in the third quarter, Clausen finally got his head on straight and led Notre Dame on an improbable comeback on the road.
