Gentlemen, we have developed the following schedule so that you may plan ahead for the upcoming 2015 and 2016 off-season and sim-season activities. The times and dates listed are the DEADLINES for the phase specified. This is based on the assumption that the playoffs and the Super Bowl will be completed by FRIDAY. Please mark your calendars and make preparations accordingly.

Anyone who cannot complete one of the following phases due to obligations outside of Madden may request assistance from a fellow owner or league management by providing their PSN login information (email address and password) and reasonable request in advance. Management will NOT perform any FA negotiation wars or draft activities for owners who are unable to attend.

You will note that there are "Owner Funds Reset" options with each Superbowl and with each Preseason week 1. We will elaborate on this in a separate post in which we will address owner mode, funds, and what owners may expect and prepare for moving forward. In the meantime, please READ the schedule below, plan accordingly, and reply with any questions or concerns.

For those inquiring about re-signings during the simulated season... You will have the opportunity to perform re-signings during Week 8 and again in the off-season. I mis-communicated in the GM chat; re-signings may not be performed during the pre-season. When performing negotiations, you will know immediately if the player has accepted or rejected your offer. If the status indicates that the player is still "negotiating" you may counter your offer as many times as needed during the Week 8 phase to see if the player will accept or reject your offer. If you do not counter your offer during the regular season, you will have the opportunity to negotiate in the off-season unless the player has decided they are not interested. YES, there will be players who are not interested in negotiating. It is part of the franchise. You will have the opportunity to apply a franchise tag to one player in the off-season. Any player(s) who is not interested in negotiating will become a free agent. Please plan accordingly.

Would any trades count towards next year's three trade limit?
Also will there be a period when the staffs contract ends and have the opportunity to sign new coaches or resign?

Trade limit is now TWO for all seasons subsequent to 2014. All staff re-signing/firing/hiring is performed during the regular and post season phases.

The timeline has been updated to include an optional funds reset for owners under $7M during the off-season free agency phase. Just keep in mind that if you elect to reset, you will be unable to make any offers during that phase, limiting your team to when offers may be submitted.

So to review, owners will have the option to reset funds up to $7M before off-season re-signings, a second time during off-season FA, and a third and final time post draft during pre-season week 1. That's up to $21M in funds if all are used... More than plenty for those teams who are concerned about their funds situation.

With the Super Bowl potentially being played by Thursday / Friday, we'll be bumping up the off-season schedule by one week. I've updated the original post with the off-season schedule to reflect the appropriate dates, as well as I've updated the timeline to include the 2015 off-season re-signings and FA periods. If you want to reset your owner funds to $7M before the off-season re-signings, NOW is the time to request it!

REMINDER: If you are going to be absent for any stage of the off-season or the sim-season, make sure that your CPU settings are updated! Turn the Fill Roster, Re-Sign Players, Sign Off-season Free Agents, and Simulate Game Prep Activities to ON if you are unable to be present during any of those phases and you want the CPU to complete them for you.

Just follow the timeline. You'll be able to reset SB week (now, which Jim is taking care of for you), FA phases 1 or 2, and post draft with each off-season.

Two questions for the All Knowing Doug :D:
Is there a certain amount of cap space/team fund amount I should have saved up going into the Draft? Wouldn't want to not be able to sign my picks.

And this is more of just a league rule question but,
    • Player Trade Limit*: Each season there is a trade limit of two (2) trades total per team in which a player is sent and/or received from any team involved.
So if my current trade is approved I would only have one trade remaining throughout the rest of the year that isn't just an exchange of picks?

Not to step on Doug's toes here but your draft picks will be signed no matter your current funds situation. It would just put you into the negative in regards to owner funds. As far as cap space, your picks are already accounted for in your team salary cap figures.

Jeremy answered your rookie cap/funds question. Thx Jeremy.

Each season you may make TWO trades involving players exchanged from either team. So, for example, I used both of my player trades for 2015. However, I was still able to make another trade that only involved picks being exchanged.

    Thank you Both!
To clarify though, I should try to still have open cap space going into the draft for I'm not negative, but if I don't it will still workout

    For Clarification:

    Salary Cap Space
Every team currently has a rookie salary pool that is set aside, based on your current draft picks. This money is earmarked for rookies, as far as the salary cap goes, and you won't be able to use it for Free Agent bidding.
    • For Example: The Browns currently have $23.3M in Salary Cap space, and have a $9.52M Rookie Reserve. So if these numbers remain the same (no other moves besides Free Agency), then the Browns could use $13.78M of their available cap space in Free Agent signings.
      • $23.3M (total) - $9.52 (Rookie Reserve) = $13.78M Available
    Team Funds
When it comes to player contracts (draft picks or otherwise) team funds are solely affected by Bonus (guaranteed) money, at the time of the contract signing. Every player drafted is given a signing bonus of an amount determined by their draft position (specific salary info HERE) and will automatically be signed by the team that drafted them, after the draft is complete. Bonus money for every player drafted will be charged to the teams that drafted them, at that time. This money will be taken out of team funds, and can force a team into negative funds. This is a big reason why we are offering teams financial assistance after each draft.

I hope this clarifies the difference between team funds and salary cap, if anyone who may have had questions.

    Thanks!
