    *** OFFSEASON RESIGNING RULES ***

In the NFL, it is common to see higher caliber players in the last year of their contract "test the market" with other teams to see what else is available to them if they haven't resigned with their current team. In the PMFL we apply the same philosophy to off-season resigning. All resigning of players must be posted in the appropriate team’s section of the offseason player resignings forum. JUST REPLY TO YOUR TEAM THREAD, DO NOT EDIT YOUR POST. In order to create a free agent market that is appropriate and fair during the offseason, the following parameters apply to resigning players during the off-season:

    (1) TEAMS ARE ALLOWED TO RESIGN ONLY THE PLAYERS WITH ZERO (0) YEARS REMAINING ON THEIR CONTRACT DURING THE OFFSEASON.
    (2) Teams may resign ONE (1) player who has an overall rating of 80 or greater to ANY contract terms that the player will agree to in the offseason.
    (3) Teams may apply a franchise tag to any ONE (1) player with ANY overall rating in the offseason.
    (4) Teams may resign ANY number of players on their roster whose contract is up if the player's overall rating is 79 or less. The contract terms must be for what the player is asking (default contract) or increase the salary offered (not years) if the player requires an increase in salary over the default contract.

    RESIGNING INCENTIVE PLAN:
An incentive plan is in place to award teams for producing wins even though they are unable to make the playoffs that season. The incentive plan allows teams to resign additional players than what is with an 80ovr rating or higher as follows:

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
REGULAR SEASON RECORD ADDITIONAL 80+ OVERALL RESIGNINGS ALLOWED
    10 wins or more
    +3
    7-9 wins
    +2
    4-6 wins
    +1
    0-3 wins
    0

*PLAYOFF TEAMS ARE EXCLUDED FROM PARTICIPATING IN THE RESIGNING INCENTIVE PLAN.

    POTENTIAL FREE AGENTS:
In the case where a team has used up their resigning capablities within the resigning rule parameters and is unable to resign players that have an overall rating of 80 or higher, those players will be considered “potential” free agents or PFA's.

    (1) A “potential” free agent (PFA) bidding period will be open for a predetermined 24 hour period.
    (2) TEAMS WITH PFA's ON THEIR ROSTER WILL HAVE 24 HOURS FROM WHEN THE PFA BIDDING PERIOD CLOSES TO MATCH ANY OFFER FROM ANOTHER TEAM FOR THE PFA ON THEIR ROSTER.
    (3) If the contract offered is not matched by the player's current team, the PFA will sign with the new team that submitted the highest bid for the appropriate compensation if warranted.
    (4) If no bids are received, the team that has the player on their roster will have the opportunity to resign the player for the contract terms that the player is asking.

    BLIND BIDDING:
    (1) All blind bids must be sent by email to premiermaddenfootball@gmail.com.
    (2) Contract terms cannot be changed. The first contract offered by a team will be the ONLY contract considered by that team.
    (3) Contract offers cannot be withdrawn.
    (4) Bidding must be for the length of contract required by the PFA. Therefore, if the PFA’s interest is a three year contract, all bids MUST be for three years.
    (5) The free agent blind bidding format is as follows and it must be used for a bid to be accepted:

    Message Title:
Free agent FULL name and position

    Message Body:
    Team
    Player name and Overall
    Position
Contract length / salary / bonus

    Example:

    Message Title:
    Terrell Owens WR

    Message Body:
    Cardinals
    Terrell Owens
    WR
    4YR / $22.5M / $9.2M
