    Ohio State Buckeyes

    Capital One Bowl

The game wasn't pretty but Ohio State wound up with a convincing victory against a tough SEC opponent, Ole Miss. The final score of the game was 47-17.

Pryor struggled to complete passes early in the game and forced a pass which was intercepted. He appeared to settle down a little after the mistake but the offense failed to find the end zone in the first half. They did set up three field goals for kicker Aaron Petrey. In the second half the offense got rolling thanks to Boom Herron and Brandon Saine. Herron did the heavy lifting while Saine and Jamaal Berry punched in short TDs on the ground.

Grade: C+ (need more consistency in passing game, too many errant throws)

Jamel Hines made the first big play of the game, intercepting a poorly executed screen pass and returning it for a TD. In the second quarter Ohio State would get its second pick six, this one by senior captain Kurt Coleman. Ole Miss was driving but Coleman stepped in front of the pass and ran it to the house. The Buckeyes front four also created problems for the Ole Miss QB, collecting sacks and forcing bad throws. The biggest blemish was a 71 yard TD by Ole Miss, a one play drive.

Grade: A- (big play hurt but overall defense was very solid)

    Special Teams

Brandon Saine showed explosive burst as a kick returner and he took one to the house for a TD. Ray Small was solid on punt returns as well, returning several punts for 10 yards or more. Kicker Aaron Petrey finished the day 4 for 4 on field goals, including a 51 yarder before the half. Kick and punt coverage were also solid.

Grade: A (solid in all aspects of the game, punting only thing preventing A+)
