The former LSU standout, Randall Gay, returns to his first NFL team. The NE Coach is happy to have him back in the fold. The Patriots are contemplating switching to a 4-3, making backup MLB Guyton expendable.

hum. guys i really really hate to do this, but we will have to look at this. I know sp wise its a good deal, but overall (which actually matters in this game) is way off.

    Trade under review

I see it as potential and playmaking ability vs filling the positions that were lost.

It wasn't easy to give up the 2nd best player in my secondary, a speed safety (hard to find) but a solid DE was what my D needed and Weddle is nothing special, I think the OVR is inflated.

    Just my opinion

I second that Weddle is nothing special and I'm the charger fan so it comes down to nelson for castillo which is what we essentially did, and just filled the lost positions.

I for one know I'm sticking this thing out, and the charger guy seems to be one of the most active on the board so far so I'd expect the same from him. We both benefit from this.

IMO the trade isn't too bad. I know the Chargers owner was really interested in Nelson in the trade threads (because I was too). He may have overpaid with Castillo, but if he wanted him that bad I can understand. I do think the Chargers got weaker and the Jags may have gotten the best of the deal, but with not being able to trade picks at the moment I am finding it is more difficult to match players. This deal seems perfect for including a pick. If the Jags would have thrown a 2nd or 3rd in on this deal, I think it would be perfect. I can see the trade being reversed going either way. Nate, I am in this for the long haul. You can count on me to stick it through. Good luck with the trade guys!

LOL. If you guys could add just a little more. Maybe one more player from the Jags, its just too much. 89 for a 70 is too large a difference. Add one more player and I'll let this go.

Well if trading is based on overall rating does it have to be an 80 overall player? or can it be just a player? I'm just concerned with judging a player because of his OVR and not what his ability or progression can be.

To compare this to a pats/raiders type of trade is ridiculous. Moss for a 4th compared to trading my best secondary play maker to solidify my line and acquire a safety to take his position. Weddle may be an 84 but IMO plays like a 72, and Nelson is an 83 who can play like a 90 with his speed.

I have no problem with giving another player but what does his overall have to be?

no it doesn't have to be a 80's, just at least another player makes it a 3 for 2 trade and its a bit more fair. Please just look at it from my point of view. If you both leave tomorrow I have to explain to the new owner why I let you guys do this to these teams. I do understand and believe you can't JUST look at OVERALL, but I know in this new game OVERALL does make a difference where as in the past it hasnt.
