GO DEVILS Selects - Olympique de Marseille 3/1/2013
Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, owner of Olympique Marseille, stated in a press conference late this afternoon that her French club, currently worth around $349 billion would be taking a new direction at the manager position after two seasons of success under former manager hokie79.
Seasoned manager Go Devils (he of underwhelming performances since Season 1 of TFSerie lore) was thought to have been a knee-jerk reaction to the stepping down of the clubs former manager. The new manager, and his career 118 points in 139 games, and the £9.24 million sale of star striker Loic Remy to BESHIKTAS has those who fill the Stade Vélodrome each and every week questioning the direction of team chairman Vincent Labrune.
“I’ve coached in France before, not to mention Italy, England, Brazil, and Turkey,” said Go Devils. “I’ll keep this team playing entertaining football and I hope to continue the success achieved by coaches in this dugout before me with our play being centered around the likes of Gignac, Valbuena, and one of the best keepers in TFS, Mandanda!!!”
Marseille have been French champions a record ten times and have won the Coupe de France a record ten times, so much will be expected of the new coach.

    Season 9: Key Players
    [IMG]
    Steve Mandanda (GK) 84ovr
Not only is Mandanda the best player on his team, but the Marseille skipper is also one of the best between the sticks in the entire league, excelling in all attributes you look for in a standout goalkeeper.
    Andre Ayew (LW) 81ovr
With the sale of Loic Remy to QPR during the 2013 winter transfer window, Ayew was next in line as the best offensive presence for Marseille. The Ghanian international possesses the Technical Dribbler skill, as the metronome of the team coming down the left side. Helps to institute club manager Go Devils slogan of "Left lane hammer down."
    Mathieu Valbuena (CAM) 80ovr
The second member of the Technical Dribbler club for Marseille along with Ayew. Valbuena provides flexibility for his club with the ability to exude his fantastic movement skills at all three positions behind Marseille's striker.
    Joey Barton (CM) 76ovr
The teeth behind all of the skill offensive players at Marseille. Local heartthrob for his fair play and kinship to all. It's hard not to love his passion and fairness to both players and officials. Who are we kidding, its machete-in-jockstrap time every time an opposing team laces up the boots to face Mr. Barton and he is the love and joy of his coach Go Devils because of this trait.

    Season 9: Coppa Group Preview

Upon receiving notice that his Marseille club would be grouped with Athletic Bilbao, Anzhi, and PSV Eindhoven club manager Go Devils was less than excited, "that's one of the best players in the competition in Broncos218, not to mention two seasoned vets in kaptainkracker1 and redwings8831."

Go Devils clubs have always limped into the last game of qualifying for the knockout rounds of this competition over the last few years and made it interesting, but never through. "Our club is the weakest link to this group and we play Bilbao and PSV first, so we are hoping for a win and a draw either way it comes before facing Azhi. That is the key, to play that club in hopes that he just needs a draw to win the group," said Go Devils.

Marseille opened the Season 9 campaign with great hopes coming off an eventful run last season in the TFS league. But the band of brothers from Brazil had other ideas playing a tight contest but burring the game winner late in extra time.

Matchday 3: AS Saint-Étienne too strong in the second half for Marseille
    [IMG]
Marseille did their best for 45 minutes to hold down the mighty counter attack of AS Saint-Etinne, but in the end the likes of Pierre Aubameyang and company were too strong for the French outfit dominating the pace of the final 45 of the contest.
