I now have my whole roster in a chart format that is easy to read and easy to keep up to date and easy to follow.

Let's say this is year 2, where progression and regression takes place.
I would open my Year 1 thread. I would copy the last entry by using the edit feature. I would start a new thread and I would paste the last entry from the Year 1 thread into this new Year 2 thread.

Except this time I would edit the players who went up and who went down using these rules as posted on the rules page:
So instead of leaving my roster as is, I now need to take what I have posted in the new Year 2 thread and I need to open up the Madden game or Madden website and compare my players overalls. The above example is my team that I ended last year with. I will now show you what to do when your players regress and progress by using 'made up' overalls for example bases only.

    Let's just say...

Sean Canfield went up to a 70, which brought him to a new bracket of pay. I now adjust his Base Salary and his Base Bonus. I also highlight him in blue indicating his progression.

Lynell Hamilton went up to a 70, which did NOT bring him to a new bracket of pay. I simply high light him in blue indicating that he progressed but I do NOT change his pay.

Darren Sharper went down to a 87. Regressed players DO NOT get their salary adjusted. I simply high light him in red indicating that he regressed but I do NOT change his pay.

This now reflects these above changes and the change of dropping vaughn.

After doing that i make a new reply, which at the top I will post my average of my top 20 players (heres a small hint - look at your page on the cap book and its done for you). I then cut on person on that list, above my average. After that cut, I then cut 2 players on that list below my average.

I post those cuts with my adjusted roster like this (as a reply in my Team Management thread)

This now reflects my 3 mandatory cuts and my new roster with new cap and new players on the team.

You MAY CUT MORE than just these 3 players, but only these 3 players are allowed to be cut with NO cap hit. If you decide to cut anyone else, they will carry a cap hit. Let me cover that with you here.

This now reflects all my cuts and now my team is set for the offseason. To see the rules on cap hits, look at the rules here: https://docs.google.com/document/ed...o5yLlDa6ltz2U_oMVhkAY&authkey=CKLV6ZkN&hl=en#

After getting these numbers OK'ed from a board member your CapBook is set and ready to go.

The next step is getting your team to 45 players. This is in preperation for the simming of the draft. If your team is not at 45 players the CPU will cut these players for you and you will not get them back. So to allow for this we will have a thread up in the Free Agency Forum located here: http://www.traditionfootball.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166

The thread will allow you to post 5-7 names (as many as you need to get your team to 45 players) which will be cut (by you) and protected until the draft is simmed.

These players are now protected until after the draft is done. When the draft is simmed, the rookies will be cut and these players on this list will be re-added to your team. A team must maintain the following minimums for their rosters at all times, including after offseason mandatory cuts and voluntary cuts: 1 QBs, 2 HBs, 1 FB, 3 WRs, 1 TEs, 1 of each offensive lineman, 1 of each defensive end, 2 DTs, 1 of each outside linebacker, 1 MLBs, 3 CBs, 1 FSs, 1 SSs, 1 K, 1 P.

    Now lets cover free agency.

After having your cap book OK'ed and your team down to 45 players you are now ready to begin FA's.

Let's take a look at the FA rules for the OFFSEASON ONLY.
  5. natedawg212000

    Jul 29, 2009
So now I am ready to go after some free agents.

I see WR T. Owens that I want and TE J. Bob. I also see T. Ray ROLB, J. Smash LB, and A. Hole FS.

I check to make sure these players are not protected.

    I see they are not.

I go to the Waiver Wire Forum (located here: http://www.traditionfootball.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166 )

I check to see if there are any threads started for these players.

I find there is a thread for T. Ownes and T. Ray. There are NOT threads for TE J. Bob, LT J. Smash, and FS A. Hole.

I decide what tags to use on these players.

Tag 1 is the most importance and Tag 5 is the least importance.

I am in dire need of a LB and so I place my tags as such:
    T. Owens - Tag 2
    T. Ray - Tag 5
    J. Bob - Tag 3
    J. Smash - Tag 1
    A. Hole - Tag 4

On the T. Owens and T. Ray threads I simply replay to the thread with this info:
I then send an email for these two players to "omflfreeagents@yahoo.com".

Now on the next 3 guys, it works the same way, except I have to start a thread on those players.

So I would go to the Waiver Wire Forum and start these threads:

I then send an email on these 3 guys:

So those bids now wait 24 hours.

I win 2 of those bids out right by being the highest or only bidder.

    I win the contracts of:
    FS A. Hole for 620 K
    TE J. Bob 1.4 Million

I also receive back Tag #3 and #4 of my 5 Tags and could use them on new FA's if I so choose.

Two teams bid on T. Owens, my Saints and the Bengals. The Bengals used Tag 1/5, and we both bid the same amount of total contract. The Bengals win because they placed a higher tag on Owens than my Saints did. Because of this I also receive back Tag #2, which I may now use on a new FA if I so choose.

Three teams bid on LT J. Smash. My Saints, Falcons, and Cowboys. My Saints had placed a total bid of 4.5 with a 3 modifier and a 1/5 tag. Falcons placed a bid of 4.5 with a 3 modifier and a 2/5 tag. Cowboys place a total bid of 6 millions because he bid a modifier of 4 and also used a 1/5 tag. Cowboys win him because of the higher modifier, which increased his total salary. Because of this bid I also get back my #1/5 tag, which I can now use on any FA that I choose.

8 teams Bid on ROLB T. Ray. The top 3 teams chosen because of Tag or Highest 3 bids were My Saints, Ravens, and Jags. Those 3 teams were then notified via an email that they had 24 hours to re-bid. Saints choose to let their bid stand and send an email, exactly as before. If you choose to raise the bid you may, but you can never go lower than your first bid.

Since I now know where 4 of my 5 FAs stand, I can update my cap book.

I go to my Thread in Team Management and make a new reply with the new players added.

My cap book is now updated and the last 24 hours have passed.

Saints find out they have won ROLB T. Ray. So now it's time to update the cap book again with this new player:

I also now have all my tags back for use of whenever I want.

The rest of the Free Agents in this offseason is conducted the same way. For free agents during the season, you may read the rules to see the changes. They are as follows (FOR REGULAR SEASON ONLY):
    - No use of TAGS during regular season.
    - Not forced to offer Max Modifier during regular season (bids may be placed for the minimum overall modifier according to your team)
    - No emails sent - bid is placed in the forum in the body of your thread/offer.
    - 24 hours after bid thread/offer is started, the bid will close and the winning bid will be announced.

Now these were my only targets that I wanted before the draft.

My team is looking to make a move for a rb and some picks though.

I work out a deal with the Jets for LaDainian Tomlinson.

The deal is posted as follows in the Trade Forum (located here: http://www.traditionfootball.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=167 )

This is the Saints 1st deal of the offseason but the Jets second deal of the offseason.

LT would carry a modifier of 4 over to the Saints and Lance's modifier of 1 would stay the same on his new team. Modifiers ALWAYS go up when necessary, but NEVER go down.

If this trade gets passed I would then add him to my roster in team management thread:

My cap book would now be updated and I would be ready for more trades, more fa's, and the draft.

After the draft I would then sign my picks that I wanted to keep, by using the graph of pay out for rookies located in the CapBook Rules.

I'd also update my above team Management with a new reply with rookies and their salaries added. Any Rookie that I did not offer a contract would then be a FA and could be bid on by anyone.

As long as your team management thread is up to date after rookies, signed off by a board member, and at least 53 players, you will then be ready for the season to begin and play your games.

This was as detailed walk through as I could come up with. If you have ANY questions at all, please feel free to ask me or a board member via PM or AIM.

To make a chart work properly you must add a "|" after each piece that you want in a chart.
