Just wanted to start a fun and interesting discussion to see who guys really value and wish they had on their team.

So here is the question... If you were starting a franchise today... give me one CURRENT dugout player you would select 1st overall in a draft. And tell us why.

That Lynwood Abbott guy in Boston. Don't remember his exact name but that guy is basically babe Ruth! His hitting and fielding are top notch. But that pitcher Teheran is a close second. I think hes set up for 3 straight Cy Young awards now? Not sure. One of those guys though, they'd be an excellent cornerstone for any organization

Can I take my own player???? ABBOTT all the way... Still has room to improve as well! Strikes out to much.

Outside of him I am not sure a lot of good guys.. Teheran is a very good pitcher that anyone would love to have, Donahue for the Angles looks like a good player.. Could go on and on...

Christian Yelich for me. He is a 30/30 guy, 2013 Rookie of the Year and Gold Glove. And then back to back MVPs in 2016 and 2017. He does it all and is a true 5 tool player.

It's between Yelich, Moore, and Donahue for me and honestly I would probably take Donahue purely because of Yelich and Moore's injury history. If I'm building a franchise I want a guy who's going to play 150 games for me, Yelich and Moore are both averaging around 120-130 the last 3 years. Donahue get's on base 45% of the time, that's borderline Bonds level.

He's done that twice. First one he missed the last month of the season.

If we had a fantasy league, it'd be Yelich.

Pitcher HAS GOT TO BE Teheran

Is that why I got a call from someone with a 240 number?

I would think long and hard about taking C Kyle Skipworth from Minny at #1. Hard to find that value at the C position.

Honestly, both 120 games of Yelich or Moore is better than 160 of Donahue. Donahue is awesome, but he's just not on their level. The answer to this question is that Yelich goes 1, Moore goes 2, and Abbott goes 3. Abbott could have challenged for the top pick, because his inferior current skill should have been offset by the savings in cash and additional team control. But with both Moore and Yelich signing long term deals, and with Abbott signing a deal that makes him an extra 8M over what he should be making, that advantage no longer exists for Abbott.

I knew you would hate my pick :D The thing I forgot to put in my explanation is that Donahue plays any of the infield positions. There is just so much depth in the outfield, that I would feel comfortable finding plenty of very serviceable players out there which wouldn't necessarily be the case in the outfield.

Well yeah, but he doesn't play any of the IF positions particularly well (except for 1B). Moore is basically GG caliber at every one of the OF positions.

and I would take Teheran. guy has dominated every f.ing year. finding hitting is easy, finding a teheran is a once in a league deal, so far.
