Oregon State finally gets a big win against a top team, after losing 2 tough heartbreaking loses against Penn State and Ole Miss to start the year off. Oregon State has now won 7 straight games.

This game started off slowly with a scoreless first quarter. Stanford got on the board first with a 45 yard TD catch by Charles Richardson midway thru the 2nd quarter. Oregon State tied the game right before the half with a 19 yard TD catch by WR Ray Gilbert with 47 seconds left in the first half and these teams would go into the half tied at 7.

The 2nd half started out like the the first half with both teams going scoreless in the 3rd.

The 4th quarter is where the game heated up. Stanford took a 10-7 lead early in the 4th with a short FG. Oregon State would take the lead back midway through the 4th with a Michael Washington 6 yard TD run. On the next drive Oregon State would get the ball back on an INT by CB Bret Merrill. Oregon State would cash in on that drive with another Washington TD run, this one from 24 yards out giving the Beavers a 21-10 lead with 2:15 left on the clock. Once Stanford got the ball they drove right down the field and Richardson would get his 2nd TD of the day and Stanford would convert the 2 point conversion to pull within a FG at 21-18. Stanford then went for the onside kick and recovered it, BUT on the first play Stanford QB Jon McCarthy would throw an interception, his 4th of the day. The Beavers would then try to run out the clock but was stopped on 1st and 2nd down. On 3rd and 5 coach Boda decided to go for the first thru the air instead of the run. And it worked as True Freshman QB Harrison Brothers found Ray Gilbert for the first down and Gilbert turned it into a 37 yard TD and Oregon State took a 28-18 lead with 46 seconds left. Stanford would then drive down the field quickly and score another TD with 12 seconds left making the score 28-25. Stanford would go for another onside kick and almost recovered another one but The Beavers fell on it and Oregon State would run out the rest of the clock for a huge win.
