Can anyone explain why the overall ratings listed in the CCM differ significantly from the overall ratings posted by EA?

Yes - it has to do with XP, some of which are "production" points that are earned throughout the season. For example, all rookies have 0 production points to start a season. As they produce on the field (such as in preseason) you will see their production points, and OVR, increase...

Basically ... Overall is a bullshit rating this year that fluctuates too much to really be incredibly valuable. Instead you really have to go by important specific ratings and things like production.

they also made changes with the roster update. i.e. for some reason between when the video came out and now, EA decided Eli Manning's middle accuracy and deep accuracy should basically be flip-flopped.

So those Marshall Faulk videos and all those spreadsheets and stuff were basically just inaccurate fluff.
