(AP) Baltimore, MD - The 13-1 Patriots traveled to Baltimore to take on the 10-4 Ravens in what could be a playoff preview in the weeks coming ahead. The Patriots were still in a battle with the Colts for the #1 seed but it was reported that they would not play their starters the entire game to make sure they were healthy for the playoffs and the Ravens apparently had the same mindset.

The Ravens jumped on the board quickly as Webb picked off Tom Brady and just a few plays later The Ravens would score by going to a 3 WR Shotgun set on 2nd and goal from the 2 where Joe Flacco would immediately run the ball and score easily for a 7-0 lead. The Patriots struck back quickly like they have done all season long, this time it was Brady firing a quick strike to Aaron Dobson who broke a few tackles and went 70 yards to tie the game up 7-7. This is where the Ravens took control of the game scoring 14 straight points setup by a long Punt return inside the Patriot 25 yard line where Ray Rice would finish the drive with a TD run. After a 3 and out for the Patriots the Ravens struck again where Torrey Smith burned the Patriot secondary on a blitz for a 45 yard score and a 21-7 lead. The Patriots would add a FG just before the end of the half to close the gap to 21-10 but the Ravens clearly had all the momentum going in at the half and would get the ball 1st in the 2nd half.

The Ravens opened up another scoring opportunity as the Patriot defense looked gassed and had no answer for Ray Rice which led to a FG and a 24-7 lead midway through the 3rd. The Patriots offense came out looking for a quick score and Brady delivered as the Patriots went down the field quickly and ended up hitting Wes Welker to close the gap now down 24-17. The Ravens responded again as they picked off Brady for the 3rd time turning that drive into another 7 points on a 70 yard TD run by Ray Rice and the Ravens looked to be in control up 31-17.

At this point the Patriots coaching staff felt like they had seen enough and the starters would exit the game as they wanted to avoid any injuries and were content with what they had seen and the Ravens seemed to do the same thing as well. The start of the 4th Quarter felt very bizarre at M&T Bank Stadium and you just knew you were about to see some fireworks. Just not the kind of fireworks the Ravens were expecting. Insert Tim Tebow into the backfield running the read option to perfection as he eluded 2 Raven defenders en route to a 45 yard TD run to cut the lead in half down 31-24. After a good defensive stand the Patriots looked to get the ball back until Leon Washington decided to do it on his own as he returned the punt 70 yards for a TD to tie the game 31-31 with just under 4 minutes remaining. Once again the Patriot defense forced a punt and again leon Washington had a great return setting the Patriots up at their own 40 yard line. Ryan Mallett was now in the game and on his 1st pass attempt he hit Kembrell Thompkins on a 60 yard strike for a TD and their first lead of the game 38-31 with 2:01 remaining.

The Ravens now with Wilson in at QB made a mistake as the Ravens had the ball near midfield but he was picked off by Tavon Wilson where the Patriots would run out the clock and improve to 14-1 after a shocking comeback to stun the Ravens 38-31.

GG Josh Barnes I'm sure we will meet again sooner rather then later.

Congrats on locking up home field. I say this only because the Jaguars will be defeating the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in week 17. ;)

You should start your 3rd stringer just in case Luck goes down in the AFC Conference Round.
