In a Sunday Night Matchup, the (10-2) Chargers hosted the (7-5) Patriots.

The game started as a defensive stalemate, with neither team able to get anything going. Phillip Rivers struggled to get completions and Ryan Matthews had net yards of a negative amount. Every Patriot drive ended on third downs with Stevan Ridley not having enough speed to get across and Tom Brady turning it over with picks.

It took till the 2nd quarter for either offense to click, but both were able to do so successfully and the game went into the 2nd half 14-7.

Two big injuries came to haunt the Chargers in the 2nd half. An enormous hit by Jerod Mayo knocked Antonio Gates out of the game. And after a sack Phillip Rivers suffered an abdominal tear and is now sidelined for 2 weeks.

Kellen Clemens stood no chance to lead the Chargers back and the Patriots were able to get the victory.

I foresee the Chargers looking towards the Free Agent pool to grab a replacement QB to finish out the season and fortify the back up situation for Phillip Rivers.
