Ok so i have a situation regarding cap space with alot of players out of contract so am willing to listen to offers for Welker

also have Brady, gronk and hernandez out of contract amongst others

for Welker i need a CB and looking for a QB if i let Brady go

The Vikings offer Christian Ponder/Kevin Williams 3rd round pick for Tom Brady/ Welker. Saves the patriots cap and still allows for a decent QB to come in and Add a solid DT to the club.

Also the Vikings could trade Chad Greenway, DE Allen, DE Roberson, DT Ballard, CB Cook,

FYI, players out of contract have to be resigned before you are able to trade them in XFN, which means cap penalty for the following season. Ideally you should have traded players before the trade deadline if they were in final year of contract. Cheapest route now is to let them be Free Agents, unless you can afford the cap penalties later.

There shouldnt be a penalty for trading them as a team is still paying the bonus. Teams do sign and trades all the time with no cap penalties

Xfn does cap penalties automatically. If player is due bonus in contryyrar they are traded. Its a cap penalty.

Yeah if this is the last year you will have to resign them in offseason before xfn allows you to trade them. The signing bonus for the 2014 contract year gets added as 2015 cap penalty.

This isn't the NBA...show me where this happened. They are TRADE and SIGN in the NFL...not the other way around.

We don't have contract extensions so we can't do it.

Even so they are still trading and extending the contract. Which does not affect Cap penalty as a team is still paying the bonus

You have the ability to do that here, you just have to trade them PRIOR to the contract expiring...just like the NFL. You get first choice of signing.

If you WANT to trade them you can sign then trade them...you will however take a cap hit for their WHOLE signing bonus.
