    Penn St. 2011 Season Preview

The wait is over..A new regime takes over in Happy Valley and hopes to build on the foundation left before. Penn State finished last season with a 12-1 mark, Sugar Bowl Champions, and a final ranking of #3. This season, the main goal is winning the Big 10 and getting to the Rose Bowl. Standing in the way of that are games @ the Big House and @ the Shoe, 2 places where winning is going to be hard. Out of Conference, it doesnt get much easier with home games against Ole Miss and Georgia Tech and a road game @ Texas A&M.

Offense is led by Junior QB Kevin Newsome. He will trying to continue success from last year and build on his 22 TD. The strength of this offense is lead by the Offensive Line. John Troutman LG 99 ovr, Quinn Brarham C 99 ovr, Deonte Pannell LT 95 ovr, all return to the OL, which might be considered the best in the country. RB Stafon Green entered the NFL draft early, leaving Curtis Dukes to start a year before planned. The WR position is deep with size and speed, led by Chaz Powell, Devon Smith, and AJ Price. This group looks to make big plays after the catch.

Linebacker U is back!!! Michael Mauti, Andrew Dailey, and Nathan Stupar look to uphold the traditions here at Penn State. These 3 are all ballhawks and sure tacklers. The secondary looks better than ever returning all starters from last year. Danton Lynn, the Captain of the D, and Darrel Givens looks to add to his INT total. FS Drew Astorino, a 3 year starter, will bring leadership to a young but talented secondary.

Special Teams is an area of concern. Starting Punter and Kicker are both True Freshman and they aren't very good.
