    Penn State Nittany Lions
    2010 Season Preview

The defending Rose Bowl and Big 10 Champion Penn State Nittany Lions are coming into a 2010 season with a lot of questions to ask and holes to fill. QB Daryll Clark graduated after a stellar 2009 campaign, and Walker Award winning HB Evan Royster decided to take his skills to the NFL. The reigns for the offensive horse will be handed over to Sophomore QB Kevin Newsome. Newsome signed with the Lions and looks to be in good shape to lead the Lions to another potential Big10 Title. HB Stephfon Green will carry the majority of the load on the ground. The speedy combination of Green and Newsome will bring a fear to the opposing defenses. At the WR position, PSU returns all of their starters. Chaz Powell, Graham Zug, and Derrick Moye will see the most action, along with Brett Brackett and AJ Price. Two of the leagues best TE's left for graduation after last season in Quarless and Shuler. The TE position should be taken over by Junior Andrew Szczerba to make the announcers juggle their tongues every time he makes a play. The offensive line will return all but 1 starter at the RT position. This void should be filled by Mike Farrell or Eric Shrive, whom graduated high school only 45 minutes from Coach Cimmy's hometown.

The defense lost plenty of good starters to graduation. The D-Line will be missing DE Jerome Hayes and DT Jared Odrick. Look for Abe Koroma or Devon Still to secure the middle along side DT Ollie Ogbu. The DE's for the upcoming season should be Kevion Latham and Jack Crawford or Eric Latimore. The Linebacking Corp here at Linebacker U lost two great Backers in Sean Lee and Mike Hull. Michael Mauti, Chris Colasanti, and Navarro Bowman should be the starting Backers for the 4-3 D. If PSU decides to go 3-4, look for Nathan Stupar to get into the mix. The secondary is the biggest area of concern for the Lions for the second straight year. AJ Wallace and Knowledge Timmons both wore their caps and gowns this Spring. Drew Astorino and Cedric Jeffries will hold the safety postions, and D'Anton Lynn and Darell Givens will control the CB spots.

With the 2010 schedule still in the works, Penn State should have a tough road to the Big10 title. Projected OOC games against Alabama and 2009 Rose Bowl opponent Arizona will give PSU a threat early. Big10 match ups against the Wolverines, and Ohio State whom each field a new coach, and two tough games against Minnesota and the Hawkeyes will give PSU a rocky road to the Big10 title and possible Rose Bowl or National Championship Bids. Stay tuned Lion Faithful...Penn State is in for one Helluva season.

    For the Glory....
