    #5 USC (sdid22) @ #3 Penn State (Cimmy24)

Penn State's Defense Didn't Back Down from the USC High Power Offense

~Penn State would welcome the USC Trojans to Happy Valley for one helluva season opener. #5 against #3 in Beaver Stadium. Both teams would look to dominate the game defensively and force turnovers. However, only one teams gameplan would work. The PSU defense forced 4 total turnovers, all interceptions of QB Matt Barkely.

The PSU offense would not give up one. The Nittany Lion Defense would only give up 22 yards rushing on the day and hold USC to 5 of 10 3rd down conversions. The Lions would go on to win a huge game, 24-10 and are looking to make noise in the Big10 and BCS, possibly a 5th straight appearance and win in the Bowl Championship Series.

    Purdue @ #1 Penn State

~Penn State would host the Purdue Boilermakers in Happy Valley on a sloppy Saturday night. Penn States defense would serve Purdue a goose egg. The Boilermakers offense had absolutely nothing for this Lions defense, which has now only given up 30 points in 3 games in the Beaver against USC, Virginia, and Purdue, and hasn't given up more then 21 points all year, which came against Wisconsin in Camp Randall. The 8th ranked rush defense held Purdue to 52 yards on the ground. Purdue's 3rd down stats...3 of 14, merely 21%. 214 total yards for Purdue's offense, compared to Penn State's 402, which primarliy came in the first half as the passing game lit up the Boilermaker defense. QB Tremayne Smith was the player of the game going 10 for 15 for 276 YDs and 4 TDs. WR Brown, WR Fisher, WR Woods, WR Justice and TE Clarke each caught 2 passes from Smith. Brown, Clarke, Woods, and Justice each with their own TD reception. Clarke and Brown would be the favorite targets as Brown managed 82 yards and Clarke grabbed 112, including an 80 yard TD reception for this all-american TE. HBs Stovall and Murray would finish the game for the Lions in the 2nd half rushing for 75 yards and a TD. The defense was led by DE Stanley who had 9 tackles, 5 for a loss and 2 sacks in this one, as Penn State dominates Purdue 45-0.

    Lions Crash Columbus

~The Nittany Lions do it again. This time at the expense of their hated rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes. PSU traveled to Columbus to put their top ranked, undefeated record on the line against Coach Zep and the 5-2, 12th rank Buckeyes. OSU would put on a good fight, but turnovers would prove costly. A total of 3 turnovers, all interceptions deflated the Buckeye offense. Their defense would play specatcular football to keep them in the game by forcing Penn State to kick field goals, but a big play in the 4th quarter put the game too far for OSU. After pounding the rock to eventual player of the game HB Andrew Stovall, PSU called a PA pass with 3:38 left in the 4th and the Buckeyes bit. The eventual game winner as QB Tremayne Smith lofted one in the air for TE Alex Clarke would give the Lions a cushion as time expired in the 4th.

OSU would put on a comeback, scoring with 50 seconds left. They could not seal the onside kick and PSU would line up in victory formation to secure the win, 23-21 Penn State.

~Player of Game: HB Andrew Stovall-27 Carries 178 Yds 1 TD

#1 Penn State, 2 Wins from Big10 Championship and NCG Bid

The Nittany Lions took care of Indiana with a final score of 31-3. PSU has 2 games left against Michigan St to seal the Big10 Championship and against Colorado St to secure a National Championship Game bid. Led by HB Andrew Stovall, QB Tremayne Smith, and WR Justin Brown, this Penn State offense looks unstoppable. The Defense looks impenetrable. This team looks poised to bring a Big10 Trophy and the Crystal Ball of the National Championship back home to Happy Valley.
