West Virginia 19
#9 Miami 42
Miami started its new season with a new QB at the helm , while some were worried about the drop off in talent from last years QB Stephen Morris, Coach Ingram had no doubts that former FL State Champion Ryan Williams would play well. By the end of the day he was proved right as Williams would finish 18-22 376 yards and 4 TDs in his first start.
Now on to the actual game. In the first quarter Duke Johnson and Miami would find the scoreboard first on a long opening drive capped off by a 7 yard draw to Duke Johnson for the touchdown. WVU would respond right away with a 75 yard reception by WVU's K.White on their opening play of the game. It looked as if this was going to be a shootout, but The Miami defense would keep West Virginia out of the endzone for the rest of the game and force them to settle for field goals. That combined with Williams ability to find Phillip Dorsett and Rashawn Scott deep down the field gave Miami the edge in this one and they won comfortably. Rashawn Scott finished with 3 reception TDs on 140 yards and 4 Receptions. Duke Johnson had 16 carries 126 yards and 2 TDs as well as a receiving TD. For West Virginia QB Clint Trickett went 21-36 for 306 yards 1 TD 1 INT and K.White had 4 receptions 149 yards and 1 TD. Good game IrishBearcat
