Miami Puts Notch in OOC Belt
#18 Oklahoma State 20
#20 Miami 31
Miami welcomed Gwill and his Oklahoma State Cowboys down to South Beach this week in a battle of two top 25 teams. The Canes took control of this one early and never really looked back as they had an opening drive of 15 plays with 3 3rd down conversions that ended in a Miami touchdown with 2:25 left in the 1st quarter to go up 7-0. Oklahoma St would score very early in the 2nd on an 18 yard FG to make things 7-3. Miami would respond with a 56 yard TD pass from Stephen Morris to Phillip Dorsett. OSU was undeterred and drove down the field but couldn't quite punch it in and had to settle on another FG with 2:09 left in the 2nd and the score 14-6. Miami would try to score once again and kicked in a FG with 47 seconds left, but an aggressive Oklahoma State offense would turn the ball over on the interception and a few plays later Stephen Morris would connect with TE Clive Walford on the 11 yard strike over the middle for another TD before half. The score at halftime 24-6 Miami.
The 2nd half saw a much more aggressive Oklahoma State offense, but turnovers derailed their comeback attempts, including a fumble on the 1 yard line that would have been a TD had the RB held onto the ball. Both teams would find the endzone once in the 3rd and Oklahoma State would score again in the 4th, but an unsuccessful onside kick as well as an interception late in the game by true freshman CB Artie Burns would seal the win for the Canes.
Good Game gwill . Turnovers and big plays were the difference I think.
Player of The Game goes to CB Artie Burns, the true freshman was all over the field with 11 tackles as well as an INT.
Hokies go down again!
