OKLAHOMA OUTLASTS NOTRE DAME Despite a horrific game by Bell, his worst of the season, Oklahoma's defense and run game were just enough to edge by the Fighting Irish for the two point win. Bell threw four interceptions, one more than he had all season up until this game. It was definitely a defensive battle. Seven sacks, a turnover, and multiple failed fourth down attempts by Notre Dame kept them just shy of victory. Damien Williams late third quarter run for a 50 yard TD really electrified the team, putting them within four points of the lead. The Sooner defense rallied in the fourth, denying Notre Dame any offensive production, and Hunnicutt tacked on two FGs to give his team the win. Next up is a very tough opponent in TCU.
Cheese! OU can't beat Notre Dame.
Kansas 45Colorado St 7 Jake Heaps finally shows why he was the #1 QB coming out of high school and led the Jayhawks to their 3rd straight win in their last non conference game. The Jayhawks got to work right away with Heaps throwing a 20 yard touchdown pass Nick Harwell. The Jayhawks defense would force a punt and the Hawks offense would kick a field goal. After two consecutive punts, the KU offense would score on a Jake Heaps 18 yard run and then a Heaps 9 yard touchdown pass Just McCay and go into the locker room with a 24-0 lead. After another punt, the Jayhawks offense would have a long drive capped off by James Sims. To start the 4th, Colorado St would finally get on the board but Tony Pierson would add two more rushing touchdowns and KU would leave the state of Colorado with a 45-7 win. Sims would have his 2nd straight 100 yard rushing game giving him close to 500 yards on the young season. James Sims 25 rushes 155 yards 1 TDJake Heaps 14/14 207 yards 2 TD
14/14 passing, wow! Great passing display even if it was against CSU.
Another sig bet?
We'll see. I would've taken it now with Golson, but with Rees at QB let's see how he does the first few games.
#1 Ohio State 45
In their month of primetime football, Ohio State plays their first complete game of the season as they blowout Wisconsin. Braxton Miller had a solid day at the office throwing for 231 yards and 3 TDs and also rushing for 92 yards on 11 carries. As a unit the Buckeye ground game rushed for 220 yards. Carlos Hyde rushed for 56 and a TD, Jordan Hall added 51 yards and a TD. Defensively, the Silver Bullets tallied 3 interceptions and three sacks. They held Tanner McEvoy to only 115 yards passing.
Next week the Buckeyes will be in primetime again when they head to Evanston to take on the Wildcats.
