Wild game in the jungle today as the Bengals somehow pull out the victory in OT. The game started well for the Bengals with solid D believe it or not. Chad Henne was sacked on the first 2 plays of the game the second time he fumbled and Ray Edwards recovered inside the Miami 10. One play later Ced Benson hopped in the endzone for a TD and an early 7-0 lead. The Dolphins would respond as Henne was sharp all day and moved the Dolphins down the field. The CIncy D would however show up and hold Miami to a FG 7-3 Bengals. The momentum swings would then ensue and also several turnovers by the usually reliable Carson Palmer. The teams would trade scores making it each scoring TD's and each kicking a FG making it 17 all at the half. The 3rd quarter was about defense if you could believe that forced TO's every time the Bengals could get an edge and solid D from Cincy however BRett Celek would haul in a TD late in the 3rd making it 24-17 Fish going in to the final period. CIncy would strike quick to start the quarter as Palmer would find back up RB Tim Hightower in the flat and he would shake a tackle and take it to the house to knot the score at 24. The Dolphins would add a FG after a Palmer int. With just under 4 minutes left the Bengals needed a score and were a long way from pay dirt. On a third and forever inside the 15 Palmer would find hardly used WR Marco Mitchell for an 89 yd TD down the right sideline and the jungle was rocking Bengals led 31-27. Miami got the ball back but after 2 Henne incomplete passes they would have to punt with around 3 mins left. With all 3 timeouts Palmer knew Cincy needed to run some clock and get multiple first downs. On first down he dropped back and no one at all was open so he ran and should have slip instead dove and was popped by LB Roberson and fumbled inside the 20. Henne would then find Golden Tate for a 5 yd TD and Miami again led by 3. Carson Palmer then went to 2 minute mode. Taking what the D gave him he drove them down to the Miami 10. However on 2nd down Palmer was almost picked and on 3rd down TE Gresham dropped a pass a the goalline. A Tiffin 27yd fg followed to tie the game and over time seemed likely. Miami had other ideas has Henne would find litte used rookie WR Wilson who had a huge game today and TE Celek who seemed to be open all game and got into FG range. The strong legged Dan Carpenter lined up for a lenghty FG with a 14mph wind at his back. The kicked looked good off the leg but faded to the right at the end and the jungle could breath again. OT cometh. To make this very long story short rookie reserve DB Ken Byndom to the kickoff to start OT back 96yds and just like that it was over...40-34 Bengals. GG stang looks like some lagg got you on that FG you played well and maybe should have pulled that one out. Next up the Champions from Jacksonville who have beaten the Bengals 3 times in the past 2 season all of which were comfortable wins for the Jags with a lot of scoring.
