We could test this theory. I've also read that in final countdown that keeping the league at 11 players prevents the glitch (or something). I'm all for a level playing field and just ignoring Coach XP, we lived without it in previous releases. I wonder how much a new coach would get with XP because even if we allowed a certain amount of points to be spent such as the initial amount you get to open up some recruiting advantages. I honestly never felt the OC and DC XP changes that much.
Then I'm guessing you've never had a high level OC or DC. When I got Mike "I'm a MAN" Gundy as my OC in the E the difference on the field was definitely noticeable.
Correct, I never did. And I guess people could still get lucky (or unlucky) with the OC/DC changes that happen.
Throwing this out there as a long time commissioner of several leagues on another site. 75% of the time anyone you add after you start a new OD will get the XP glitch, and if they pick a team that was formerly user controlled it jumps up to 100%. That is why after much trial and error I do the following (which was mentioned earlier). I have a house rule that the max coaching level you can have is 12 (you could pick any number) and that once you get here you must stop. Any new guy that joins would be defaulted to 12 and would then add XP to match whomever has the least amount of XP (if everyone had 12 then he could start at 12). I also mandate that the points could only be spent on recruiting and not the other levels that affect game play (Game Management, OC/DC) as I find these to be hokey and unfair. For instance in the off-season one user could have hired an OC with 20+ XP which could put them at a clear advantage over a guy who's default OC has 4. Long story short this is my house rule: Recruiting - 12 max Game Management - none Offensive Coordinator - none Defensive Coordinator - none
Also Masler, I'm not sure when you wanted to start this, but I'm heading to Texas later this week for some family business and I'll be there for probably at least 2 weeks and I'll be w/o my xbox during that time. Also, now that I think about it I'll be going back down to Texas in probably about 2 months and I don't know how long I'll stay then and I doubt that I'll bring my xbox then either so I probably wouldn't be a good choice to sign up.
Just a heads up on the XP glitch. In my OD we started with 11 guys, we have added multiple users, had coaches change teams, had guys that dropped and new guys come in as old coaches schools and have never once experienced the XP glitch. We have made it to 2020 with no issues. :frantically knocks on wood: I don't know for sure that that is what fixed it, but that was the one noticeable difference between our league and most of the others. It could be that we have carousel on, or we could have just gotten lucky.
Not sure when (or if right now) we'll be starting. I'd like to get a few more people with some solid interest and then we have to go through a planning process. No harm if you let your games get simmed and still recruited from The Wire.
I Peench I know you mentioned some interest. As for advance schedule I'd probably do something like Monday, Wednesday and Friday
What would work? This is about us... 72 hours? We don't have to be on a quick pace, just something for fun that holds interest.
