It's that time again gentleman! The return of the Power Rankings! Now I'll be the first to admit my formula isn't the greatest but it's better than the craziness that Daddy Leagues put on their page. A few quick notes about the formula I use for those that are new to the league: - Focuses more on divisional wins and road wins more than anything -SOS is calculated using all 16 season opponents, it makes it less work week to week. I just have to enter wins/losses and it's calculated - Point differential is included but is not a huge factor Now with that out the way, let's get to the rankings! 1. San Francisco 49ers MrWitness36 Record: 5-0 Strength of Schedule: .468% PPG: 21.4 PPGA: 5.4 Ranking: .7005% The lone undefeated team left in the league the 49ers are the top dog early in our first edition of the Power Rankings. Lead by the leagues stingiest defense the 49ers have emerged as the early Super Bowl favorite and already have a 3 game lead over the next team in their division. 2. Pittsburgh Steelers thafuture3886 Record: 4-1 Strength of Schedule: .419% PPG: 16.6 PPGA: 9.20 Ranking: .6253 A shock even to the owner himself, the Steelers land at #2. The Steelers are led by their opportunistic defense that always seems to come up with timely turnovers to give their struggling offense good field position. The offense will need to catch up eventually but for now the defense is doing more than enough to make up for them. 3. Green Bay Packers redlishus Record: 5-1 Strength of Schedule: .462% PPG: 28.83 PPGA: 14.33 Ranking: .5587% Perhaps the most explosive offense in the league, the Packers come in at #3. Aaron Rodgers is the captain of this ship and with his pinpoint accuracy he can dismantle any and every defense as he has proven to so far. 4. New York Giants cry_havoc Record: 5-1 Strength of Schedule: .407% PPG: 22.67 PPGA: 11.67 Ranking: .5503% The NFC East leading Giants are #4 in this weeks ranking. The Giants appear to be hitting their stride which could spell bad news for everyone in the NFC. 5. New Orleans Saints ThaBayouChef Record: 4-1 Strength of Schedule: .516% PPG: 27.20 PPGA: 16.20 Ranking:.5254% The Saints were dismantled in their last game against the Bucs but that doesn’t take away from the strong start they have had thus far. The bye week may have come at the perfect time as they have had plenty of time to review tape and see what they did wrong so expect a different team in their next game. 6. Carolina Panthers CSteud Record: 3-3 Strength of Schedule: .494% PPG: 11.67 PPGA: 12 Ranking: .5002% Trailing the Saints in the NFC South, the Panthers come in at #6 in the Power Rankings. The Panthers won’t wow you on offense or defense but they are solid on both sides and are very opportunistic. 7. Baltimore Ravens guitarDADDY1208 Record: 4-2 Strength of Schedule: .436% PPG: 18.50 PPGA: 11 Ranking: .4920% In at #7, we have the Ravens. Hoping to provide some pop to a struggling running game the Ravens have just acquired speedster HB Chris Johnson. 8. Denver Broncos saintsdave75 Record: 3-2 Strength of Schedule: .500% PPG: 14.60 PPGA: 11.40 Ranking: .4836% The Quiet Storm is what I like to refer to Dave as. He doesn’t say much but is usually in the fight for a playoff spot and nothing has changed in M15. 9. Tennessee Titans @heath Record: 3-2 Strength of Schedule: .420% PPG: 19.20 PPGA: 13.60 Ranking: .4586% The AFC South leading Titans come in at #9. It appears the Titans are starting to settle in as they have been playing good football lately. They will need to with the rest of the division hot on their tail. 10. Indianapolis Colts Casino Record: 3-3 Strength of Schedule:.453% PPG: 16.83 PPGA: 20.67 Ranking: .4402% After an early season owner change the Colts are still getting used to their new owner. They have some impressive wins but also have a game or 2 where they just didn’t show up. Which team is the real team?
