Week 5 is here and we have seen some interesting things happen across the league. Some teams have jumped up the polls, while others have taken a step back. These rankings are based off of this season and what we have seen the past 4 weeks.

Some of you might not agree with the #1 team on this list, but they have proven they are the best so far this season. With a key win at home vs the previous #1 team in the nation, Virginia Tach Hokies, the Buckeyes have gained some serious momentum. Braxton Miller has lost some national attention these last few weeks. Only having 560 yards passing through the first 3 games isn't that impressive, but his 9 td's/1 int is very impressive. He has had some decent success scrambling too. The Buckeyes have a tough a pretty easy next couple of weeks before they play Wisconsin in week 8. We will learn a lot more about the Buckeyes later on, but their 2 victories against tough ranked teams is enough to make them the #1 team through 4 weeks.

The Tigers come in at #2. They have really impressed me so far this season. Their latest victim was Michigan who they spanked at the Big House. They have arguable the best QB so far. Kiehl Frazier, who is only a junior, is number 1 in the Heisman spotlight at the moment. He has an incredible 1,216 yards and 13 td's through 4 games. He has thrown 6 int's, but that can be forgiven because of his incredible 6 rushing td's. Auburn goes on the road to face #8 LSU in Death Valley this weekend. If they win that game they will without a doubt pass the scarlet and grey as the new #1.
    #3 2554.gif
Notre Dame comes in at #3. They have had some convincing wins so far. Beating every team they have played by 2 or more touchdowns, including a ranked Wisconsin team at home. The Fighting Irish have one of the best running backs in the country. Cierre Wood who won the Heisman last season and is continuing his campaign with 556 yards rushing so far this season. Notre Dame's defense has molded and shined into something great/ Watch out Big Ten because the Irish are a serious contender. Oh and Gunner Kiel hasn't been to shabby with 799 yards passing and 11 td's.

Florida has dropped since the last rankings. That is because I feel there are teams that are just better than them at this point. Yes they are a quality team, but they haven't had enough games to prove that they are legit this season. They did beat Wisconsin in Madison, but they only won by 3 points. Jacoby Brissett hasn't been that exciting so far this season. He does have 665 yards passing, but only 7 td's/5 ints. Still i feel that Florida is good enough to be ranked in the top 5. They haven't lost a game yet this season so thats a plus. I feel they will pick things up once they get into the meat of their schedule.

Virginia Tech has fell the farthest than anyone since the Week 2 power rankings. They lost to a great Ohio St. team at the Shoe, but thats not the reason they dropped so far. Their defense is the only shining spot on this team. Offensively they have been atrocious through 3 games. In their 2 victories they only beat Pitt, 21-7 and OK St., 17-14. You can only rely on the defense for so long in college ball. Eventually you have to be able to score, which isn't the Hokies strong point. The Hokies have an easy schedule this season, so they caught a serious break. With a defense that is aging and an offense that isn't getting any better can the Hokies still win? We will find out in two weeks when they face Oklahoma. Logan Thomas has 1 td and 2 int's in 3 games. Good thing VT already won a Nat'l Title game.
    *6-10 coming soon. Stay Tuned*

The Georgia Bulldogs make a jump since the week 2 power rankings. They have won 3 games in convincing fashion. One of the wins includes a 35-14 thrashing of Oklahoma in Athens. Georgia has a good mix of vets and youth on defense. They have a good passing game to with Aaron Murray throwing for 708 yards and 7 td's/3 int's. Murray has really improved since last years debacle. He is playing a great game manager, but still making the great throws. Georgia has a tough schedule as always because they are in the SEC. We will find out more about them in the next 5 weeks.

Michigan comes in at #7. They have had a decent season with only one key loss to Auburn last week at home. The Wolverines are just one team that has QB questions. They haven't had great play from Devin Gardner through 3 games. In the Big Ten you can't afford to have QB problems. Hopefully Michigan will figure it out fast before they have to play Notre Dame in week 7. They have a bye week this week, so that should buy them some time. Michigan is one of those teams that could shine or fall far this year. Denard is no longer their to save the day. If all else fails they need to focus on beating Ohio State at least.

Honestly I'm not sure LSU belongs here. They make it at #8 because they are 2-0 and because they have beat a ranked TCU team by 10 points. Zach Mettenberger has 377 yards passing and 3 td's/0 int's. More to come on this team in the next 5 weeks. Next week they play a home game against #3 Auburn. We will learn a whole lot about LSU then.

Another team that isn't 100% deserving of this spot or maybe they are. It's to early in the season to tell. They have not lost a game yet, but have only played 2 games total. David Ash has 297 yards passing and 5 td's/1 int. Malcolm Brown has ran the ball well and their defense has played well. But against Houston and Texas A&M they should. More to come on the Longhorns in the next 5 weeks.

Wisconsin has 2 losses to ranked teams, Notre Dame and Florida. Both teams were better than them so they can't take to much flack for the losses. They have serious QB questions, but they have the best running back through 4 weeks. James White has 566 yards rushing and 9 td's. Wisconsin needs to start winning now though if they want to salvage this season. I has been a rough ride for the Badgers but the country still has faith in them. They are ranked #12 in the nation, despite the 2 let downs. Week 8 will answer more questions about the Badgers when they will travel to the Shoe to face the Buckeyes. Maybe Wisconsin should change their name to the Honey Badgers?

Congrats OU! You have made a jump from the worst to the second worst. Don't feel bad though. Oklahoma let their fan base breathe a sigh of relief when they beat a ranked TCU team 32-31 in Norman. Still we don't know if this was just a fluke or if this is real. Oklahoma is 1-2 and it doesn't get any easier this week. They travel to Kansas State to play the #11 ranked Wildcats. If they win this game then they can be taken seriously. If they lose they can most likely count this season as a disaster and look to the future by playing more freshman. More good news for OU! After this week they play #7 VT at home. Oklahoma could be 1-4 in the next 2 weeks. We will find out soon enough.

Georgia Tech. Oh Georgia Tech how you confuse us. You barely beat ECU and then you get creamed by Arkansas a week later. A 1-1 team that has even more questions that they did 3 weeks ago. Hey Georgia Tech, is the triple option still working for you? Just look at GT's schedule for the rest of the season. If they don't figure it out tomorrow they could end this season with a record of 4-8. They are a team with more questions that tough opponents and if you looked at their schedule you would wonder, how is that even possible?

Good work Ben. I think I'm a better team than Ohio State, but we'll see how this Big Ten schedule unfolds. Auburn is playing some incredible ball so far.

Hoping to end this argument in the Big 10 Title Game once and for all.

Think Wisconsin could make an argument to be ranked higher given his two losses were to users in the top 5

In all fairness to rekka, he beat you and went 10-2 last year which was impressive. LSU has also not even played a game himself yet, and Texas hasn't done much to prove themselves either. If these are just based on this year, then that doesn't matter tho.

But that's the fun of rankings, no one will agree and it sparks debate

Yea he beat me last year, but these rankings are based off of this year. He's one of 2 users who have lost to the cpu. We will see if he bounces back.

I wonder how four straight wins over ranked opponents will impact Oklahoma's power rank!
