As far as the First team goes, there arent many suprises if any. Talking and checking with Experts in the media and around the SEC, those are the top guys. They are the best of the best returning this year. It really gets tricky when you go into the second and third team. Warren Normans production last year as a freshman was off the charts. He scored a TD in every game he played last year. His production went unnoticed because Vandy was..well vandy. Most People want Trent there but..he wont be there at season end with Ingram on the team. His time will come. Another One is Alshon Jeffery over Terrance Toliver and Joe Adams. The Reasoning? The Gamecocks cant survive without Jeffery, while LSU and Arkansas have talent behind their top guys.

Great post Bama. Very well put together.

I am really interested to see how the numbers stack up for Ingram, Richardson, and Julio @Bama.

Same for AJ Green and Mallett

    Nice job bama

I know we have some Bama honks in the Crop, so I am sure I will get an answer- Can someone please explain the love for Julio Jones?

I thought I read that he had just four touchdowns last season and under 600 yards receiving.

he has been hurt. most sec coaches and media respect his freshman yr. also when he got healthy the 2nd half of the season he was hard to stop. also with ingram and trent bama passed less than 08. it wasnt like when wilson was there and they passed

Julio is a Terrel Owens type receiver. Big and physical. He is a team player and a big play maker when he gets the ball in his hands. Teams key on him every game which is why he doesn't put up huge numbers combined with the fact our offense is based on running the ball. McElroy is not a slinger, he is a game manager. Julio is a team player and does what needs to be done to win whether it be block or catch. Any team would be lucky to have him. He will be a first round draft pick.

enough with all the Bama talk it's making me sick!!! Pat Petterson will shut down Julio just like he did last year. Remember only reason he score that TD was because Pat was out hurt that play

Peterson held Julio that whole game. BUT Peterson is legit. Best corner in college football. Bama still wins the west.

Maybe not anymore. It'll be interesting, but I have a hard time seeing Saban adding that much risk to his gameplan. Ball Control and Defense have served him well thus far.

    From ESPN Insider yesterday:

Why Bama needs to air it out

Alabama possesses one of the best ground games in the country, with sophomore stud Trent Richardson backing up Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram.

The Crimson Tide, could, however, become more of a wide-open attack, based as much in the pass as it is in the run. This is not only because quarterback Greg McElroy will have had another year in the Tide's offense, or because there have been rumblings this offseason about Bama opening things up more.

It might also be because Alabama has several top wide receiver recruits already signed for the 2011 class, and at least one of them has taken notice of the fact that the team doesn't air it out with much frequency. Greg Ostendorf writes for the Tuscaloosa News that Marvin Shinn, who has been committed to the Crimson Tide for some time now, began having second thoughts about attending Alabama after seeing them throw so few passes during its national championship win over Texas. The coaching staff has reportedly taken steps to reassure him (and perhaps they've done the same with some of their other receiver commitments): "They said they're going to put it in the air this year, so I'll be interested to see how this season goes," Shinn said.

Odds are that Nick Saban and his recruiting staff will have little trouble keeping these prospects on board, but if Bama starts out the 2010 season with another ground-heavy attack, it might be worth keeping an eye on WR recruits like Shinn, Bradley Sylve and Danny Woodson, Jr.

Nick isn't gonna change his philosophy for a 18 year old kid, no matter how good he is. But it has been well known in Bama circles since Nick got there that he wants more balance on offense. He wants that big time passing game that will make the running game that much MORE dangerous.
