The Luke McCown era started off well as the Jags dominated the Vikings in Jacksonville. Meanwhile, the Vikings were left with questions about their quarterback situation following the game.

The Jaguars received the ball first but both teams were just feeling each other out for most of the 1st quarter but the Jags started to move the ball down the field towards the end of the quarter. They ended up getting down to the Vikings' 1 yard line in the 2nd quarter but were unable to punch it in and had to settle for a FG and a 3-0 lead. Later in the quarter, the Jags would get the ball back and would kick another FG just after the 2 minute warning for a 6-0 lead.

The Vikings would come out passing but McNabb would throw an INT to Drew Coleman who returned it 58 yards for a TD and a 13-0 lead. Undeterred, the Vikings came out passing again with just 44 seconds remaining and McNabb threw another TD immediately. Jacksonville was able to move the ball but ended up settling for a 31 yard FG with no time remaining to lead 16-0 at the half.

The Vikings got the ball in the 2nd half and was able to move the ball some but wasn't able to do much with it. The Jags would get the ball and on this possession Maurice Jones-Drew would take off on a 59 yard TD run for the Jags first offensive TD of the preseason. The lead was now 23-0.

This time the Vikings would make some noise with some big passing plays culminating with a 15 yard TD pass to Adrian Peterson cutting the lead to 23-7. Jacksonville would get the ball back but would be held to a 3-n-out as Minnesota was looking to make a comeback.

In the 4th quarter, the Vikings were able to move the ball some again but McNabb threw a deep attempt that was intercepted by SS Courtney Greene at the Jacksonville goal line and was able to return it 101 yards for a TD pushing the lead back up to 30-7. The Jags would end up adding two more FGs in the quarter to finish off the Vikings 36-7.
