In my first game with this year's release, the Lions got off to a slow start. HAL had MJD moving quickly and effectively, chunking out 7-8 yards a carry early. No scoring through the first quarter and into the 2nd, until the Jag's Luke Mccown connected with TE Marcedes Lewis on a nice corner route to take an early 7-0 lead. The Lions would tie things up before half time thanks to a nice fade to Calvin Johnson from Matthew Stafford. The 1 yard TD pass was set up on a well executed screen pass to Jahvid Best. In the second half, Gunther Cunningham really dialed up the pressure on Mccown and MJD, getting to Mccown consistently and limiting MJD's effectiveness. Jahvid Best opened up the running game more in the second half and added a score on the ground. On the ensuing drive, Mccown would be picked off by former Jag, Justin Durant, and taken to the house to go up 21-7. Marcedes Lewis would score again to cut the lead to 7, but the Lions would hold on for the victory. Let the league be warned though, the Lions defense looks for real... It's on like Ndamukong boys!!!
