September 10, 2011 New Orleans, LA- It was a rare preseason battle between division foes that turned into a defensive slugfest. New Orleans would strike quickly on their first play from scrimmage as a quick pass to reserve tight end Gilmore would up going 80 yards after he broke a couple of tackles. The touchdown would make it 7-0 Saints and they would never relinquish the lead. The Falcons would get within a couple of touchdowns late in the game, the final time after a 104 yard interception return for a touchdown off an errant Drew Brees pass. However they would never get any closer as the Saints defense would lock down and secure their team's second win of the preseason. Atlanta would try to pound the rock with Michael Turner and Jaquizz Rodgers, but they would only combine for 77 yards on 18 carries. That would force Matt Ryan into an uncharacteristic 37 pass attempts, and he would struggle completing only 19 of them with two touchdowns and no interceptions. For New Orleans, their player of the game was Drew Brees who finished with 398 yards on 18 of 27 passing, including two touchdowns. The Saints look to continue their preseason tuning later today against the Titans. Great game biggcoug65 . Fun as always my man. Now GO COUGS against UNLV today!
