Minnesota scores 14 unanswered in the 4th to beat the 49ers 28-27. Joe Webb threw for 218 yards with 1 TD as he went 16-23. Kendall Hunter gashed the Vikings for 124 yards on just 12 carries and scored once. LaMichael James ran 8 times for 92 yards and 2 TDs. Toby Gerhart had 12 carries for 81 yards and 1 TD. Receiving wise, Stephen Burton had 4 catches for 61 yards and Devin Aromashodu grabbed the only TD pass of the game.
Despite the zebras trying to take over the game with approximately 10 roughing the passer penalties, the Philadelphia Eagles held off the visiting Steelers in the battle for Pennsylvania, 35-24.
Michael Vick connected with Desean Jackson on a nice TD pass and that was all she wrote for the first team.
Mike Kafka would lead the rest of the way, moving the ball respectably, but nothing fancy.
The real story of the game was the defense and their 4 takeaways, 3 of which I believe ended in scores for the Eagles.
Anyone else seeing all of these phantom roughing the passer penalties? It was crazy in our game.
idk about phantom as i never saw replays but in practice I had a rookie that got 2 in a row. I figured it was just rookie mistakes.
Noles and I had oh, about 6 each... At times too, where I don't think either QB was even touched...
We ended up just declining them after a while.
Titans top Seahawks in first Preseason Game17-10 Titans get the win tonight in a rainy game. Started off with a couple of INT's before Locker finally found Britt for a TD. Titans would get another TD as Hasselbeck would find Williams. Seahawks would put up a late TD as Josh Portis would find Doug Baldwin. The highlight for Titans D came from backup safety Markelle Martin who recorded who would record 7 tackles and all the coaches are raving on his talent. gg Emmdotfrisk
RODGERS LOOKS SHARP, BUT WHITEHURST and BROWN STEAL THE W 27-7
Aaron Rodgers looked like typical Aaron Rodgers, converting on 3 third downs on his first drive, going 4 for 4 for 60 yards and a touchdown before taking a seat. After that, the Packers really did nothing offensively and looked content ending the game. The Chargers first team offense struggled in two series, with Phillip Rivers going 1 for 4 with a 19 yard strike to new wideout Robert Meachem. The backups really played great for San Diego, as Charlie Whitehurst made plenty of good throws including a nice touchdown toss to LeRon McClain on the goaline. Ronnie Brown ran for over 110 yards on 14 carries including a 60+ yard run in the 4th. He looked great and definately solidified his spot as the spell back for Ryan Mathews with his performance tonight.
GG soxandgators Good Luck in Regular Season.
Slow start Cards reel off 37 unanswered to the Chiefs 14 John Skelton was shaky in the rain filled debut vs the Chiefs in Arrowhead. He did redeem himself for throwing a pick 6 by connecting for a TD of his own to Larry Fitzgerald. Kevin Kolb played well and will get the start in game 2. He hit Early Doucet for a score. Beanie Wells, Ryan Williams, and the star of the game Javaris James (over 100 and a score) all ran well behind good blocking The Cards forced several turn overs in this one. Cards also lose OLB Clark Haggans for 3 weeks with a groin injury
Miami Dolphins 38
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21
Coach Houtz lead his Miami Dolphins into Sun Life Stadium for the first time in this preseason battle v.s BG and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Miami was ready right from the kickoff and moved the ball downfield with a mix of Reggie Bush and Matt Moore. It wasn't long before Matt Moore hooked up with newly acquired WR Legedu Naanee on a 64 yard strike giving the Dolphins a early 7-0 lead.
After a 3 and out Miami got the ball back with decent field position. Matt Moore drove the Dolphins down to the 4 yard line. But the Dolphins were stopped on 3rd and 4 after TB sniffed out Miami's screen and forced the Dolphins to kick a field goal. 10-0 Dolphins.
In the second quarter the Bucs and Dolphins took out their starters but the Bucs offense didn't skip a beat. QB Dan Orlovsky picked up exactly where Josh Freeman left off and threw a strike to Stocker got a 12 yard TD pass cutting the Dolphins lead to 3.
Ryan Tannehill would throw a interception on his first drive of the game which put the Bucs in excellent field position. But CB Johnathon Wade had other ideas and picked off a ill advised Orlovsky throw and took it 76 yards for the TD. 17-7 Dolphins
The Bucs would respond with a methodical drive which was again tacked off by a Dan Orlovsky TD pass to D. Clark for a 16 yard TD. Pass. 17-14 Dolphins.
But on Miami's very next possession Ryan Tannehill threw a 74 yard strike To Charles Clay to give Miami a 24-14 lead. Another interception right before the half put Miami in great position to add to the lead. Daniel Thomas would pound the rock from 1 yard out and put the Dolphins up 31-14 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter Ryan Tannehill would connect with Legedu Naanee on a 13 yard pass to put Miami up 38-14.
Midway through the 4th quarter Orlovsky would connect with L.Stocker again for a 30 yard TD pass to cut the Dolphins lead to 17. 38-21 dolphins.
The Bucs would try to rally late but CB Johnathon Wade would pick off Orlovsky at the 1 yard line to seal the victory for coach Houtz and the Dolphins.
Tampa Bay 21
Great game BG. Look forward to following your team throughout the season. Love the way you pay and look forward to many more games.
Matt Moore 4/4 74 yards 1 TD
Ryan Tannehill 4/7 116 yards 2 TD 1 Int
Reggie Bush 6 carries 53 yards
Daniel Thomas 9 carries 15 yards 1 TD
Steve Slaton 6 carries 41 yards
Legedu Naanee 3 catches 86 yards 2 TD
Charles Clay 2 catches 94 yards 1 TD
PRESSER First off, good game to Coach BigSmooth33 always great to play the cross state Philadelphia Eagles. This gave us a test upfront with their strong front four and boy was it a doozie. We put together two nice drives, one accumulating into a touchdown and that was pretty much it for Big Ben. We really wanted to see what Chris Rainey would do in the second quarter and on but he fielded a KR, as he was tackled, it was apparent that he had an upper body injury. The medical staff held him out for the rest of the game. Byron Leftwich saw time as the back up quarterback and he would throw three interceptions and fumble, three of those turnovers accumulated into points for the Eagles. Jerrod Johnson on the other hand might have worked into the back up role, throwing 2 TDs and 100+ yards. Charlie Batch did not play. Another impressive player today was WR Derrick Williams with 6 receptions for 84 yards Cimmy24 . Sean Spence played well at MLB registering 6 tackles, he should see a lot of time this year. Roster notes: Cuts include 2 TEs, a Center and MLB.
Looks like the Bucs will be doing no summaries this preseason!
Will have to do something a little better later. The website's not very helpful lol.
Giants and Jags Battle to Last Second Thriller Jacksonville, FL - The Giants would travel south to take on the renovating Jaguars in the first Preseason game of their 2012-2013 season. This would be a game with very little defense as both offenses would rack up over 500 yards. New York was very interested in seeing how their running and pass games would be with the loss of both HB Brandon Jacobs and WR Mario Manningham. They proved that they would be just fine with their new acquisitions. The Giants pass game was alright, but needs to tighten up. QB Eli Manning played the first quarter and only completed 2 of his 5 attempts, but managed 95 Yards and a TD on a 72 yard strike to WR Victor Cruz (2 Recs : 95 YDs : 1 TD). With the lack of QBs on the depth chart, David Carr would play the remainder. Carr completed 9 of his 16 attempts for 298 YDs and completing an astonishing 5 TDs. However, he did throw 2 interceptions. The receivers got their share of possessions. TE Travis Beckum and rookie TE Adrien Robinson out of Cincinnati battled heavily for a remaining roster spot. Beckum proved to be a little better in the Rookie's first game of his NFL Career. Beckum caught 3 passes for 44 YDs and a score, while Robinson had 1 reception for a 22 yard TD. Robinson earlier in the game had dropped a pass in the endzone. WRs Domenik Hixon (3 Recs : 103 YDs : 1 TD) and Jerrel Jernigan (1 Rec : 73 Yds : 1 TD) also played good football. The running game looks very good for New York. Starting HB Ahmad Bradshaw had 4 touches in his quarter of play and managed 26 yards, a 6.5 yard average. Rookie HB David Wilson really impressed with 10 attempts for 64 yards. HB DJ Ware would get 6 attempts at pounding the rock, and managed 27 yards on 6 attempts. FBs Henry Hynoski (1 Att : 9 YDs) and Rookie FB Joe Martinek out of Rutgers (2 Atts : 11 YDs) each had their moments and look good in short yardage situations. The defense played well in the run game, but needs to tighten up the pass defense. CB Justin Tryon gave up too many big plays, keeping Jacksonville in the game. The starting defense looked fine defending the pass. CB Terrell Thomas had 3 tackles and an INT while deflecting 1 pass in his showing. Corey Webster, Prince Amukamara, Antrel Rolle, and Kenny Phillips each played good football, locking down the Jags pass game in the first quarter. DE Osi Umenyiora proved to be an animal in the pass rush, with 4 tackles, 3 of which were sacks. Justin Tuck also managed a sack in his quarter of play and after being put on the trade block, DT Shaun Rogers had 2 tackles and a sack in his quarter, looking to impress both the Giants and other teams looking for a contributing DT along the line. In all, the Giants look to be a talented team who should make a run at the playoffs, if they can manage through their gauntlet of a schedule. The Giants coaching staff would like to see more out of the running game, as the 49-48 final made for an array of passing attempts.
gg controllerabuser, sorry about trying to rush, I really did have to leave to make a meeting, but appreciate you getting the game in with me
No problem, it was fun and I hope we get to play a meaningful game soon! Good luck in season.
we will, week 4 I believe! good luck to you too
10 turnovers..Lord BK struggled
Boys start off rightCowboys beat Raiders, 31-13 The Dallas Cowboys 2012 season began with a great defensive effort, it all started when Raiders HB Darren McFadden fumbled and MLB Sean Lee was able to scoop the ball and take it to paydirt. From there the game was taken over by the Cowboys defense. From the 2nd quarter on the Boys were able to get 4 interceptions, 3 by rookie FS Matt Johnson. Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor had a horrible game and it would prove to be the biggest difference in the preseason opener. Dallas backup QB Kyle Orton had a great game, throwing 3 touchdown passes. GG @drunkesoldier
Rams - 24
Colts - 28
Solid game for both teams as the Rams and Colts had very little difficulty moving the ball. Overall, it was a nice step into the Madden world. Just ready to keep things moving. Isaac Pead has some potential at HB, and Michael Brockers had a nice sack in the game.
Bills 13 Redskins 10
In a hard fought game by both sides, the Bills outlasted the Redskins 13-10. The Bills defense stole the show with 4 interceptions. All 4 were thrown by Rex Grossman. RG3 and Tim Hightower looked good in their one quarter of action for the Redskins. Hightower had 47 yards on 4 carries. CJ Spiller led the Bills with 60 yards rushing on 20 carries. Vince Young was 7/9 passing with a key 3rd down conversion late in game to set up game winning FG. Leodis McKelvin sealed the win by intercepting a Rex Grossman pass with under 10 seconds left. The Bills lost Nick Barnett for 8 weeks with a Broken Collarbone in the game.
Good game OnIowa
Texans Play Well to a 40-28 Win In this game the Texans took advantage of 3 turnovers. The game started off quick wit Andre Johnson getting a long TD to put the Texans out to a 7-0 lead. Texans would not look back at all as 4 turnovers would aid in the victory. The two biggiest ones would come off a int early in the first quarter which would be turned into a FG to put Texans up 10-0. The other big turnover came on a stip sack that would be pick up by JJ Watt and returnd to the Panthers. This would be turned into a TD. Another reason Texans played well was because they gave up 0 sacks. GG Blackattack87 good luck the rest of the year. Team Stats:
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- The Colts were able to escape with a win scoring the go ahead TD with 11 seconds left on the clock. The Luck era has officially began and he did not disappoint going a perfect 7-7 for almost a 100 yards on his short outing. Other than both teams getting solid practice time it was hard to take anything else from this game as players were constantly coming and going. Great way to start it off OMlawdog
Crap 7-7 passing, I thought that all ChaoticUT knew was the option .
Bernard Scott led the Bengals past the Jets 31-14 with his first 100 yard rushing game of the season. Tebow looked very solid for the Jets.
