As we head towards the final weeks of the season, it seems like a good time to review the status of our teams and their outlook for their programs heading into next season. Arizona: After dropping a few early games, Arizona rebounded to finish the regular season at 9-3 and will face Stanford in the first ever Pac-12 title game. Arizona is a lock to progress to a 4-star program. Alabama: Alabama struggled in the second half of the season. After losing to rival Auburn in week 13, 'Bama looks to drop from the top 20. They'll need a strong showing in their bowl game to get back into the top 15 and retain their 6th star. Arkansas: After losing back-to-back games against Alabama and Texas A&M, it looked like Arkansas's season was turning into a bust. A key win over then #2 South Carolina in week 10 propelled Arkansas back into spotlight and a key win over Miss St in week 12 put them into the SEC title game. Arkansas still has work left to do, but they're still very much in the hunt for the national title and in very good position to earn their 5th star. Florida: Florida started strong and dominated the SEC up to their week 11 loss to South Carolina. They've rebounded from that to finish the regular season at 11-1. Florida is a lock to hang on to their 6th star heading into next season. Michigan: Michigan has been up and down all season. With losses to rivals Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State, the Wolverines have finished 8-4 and outside of the top 25. They'll need a strong performance in their bowl game to retain their 5th star. Michigan State: The Spartans almost got through a brutal October schedule (@OSU, Mich, Wisc, @Neb), but stumbled late in Lincoln. They won some very close games throughout the season and seem to be in great shape to finish in the top 15 and earn their 5th star. Ohio State: The Buckeyes dropped two games in October, but recovered by winning their final 5 games. OSU could still get into the Big 10 title game. In any event, the Buckeyes would have to lose twice to jeopardize their 6th star. South Carolina: The 'Cocks, fueled by sophomore sensation Marcus Lattimore, are in great position to contend for the national title. They'll need to get past Arkansas in the SEC title game - the team that handed them their only loss of the season. The 'Cocks are a lock to earn their 5th star. Utah: Utah stumbled early losing 4 of 5 games in the opening weeks of the season. They've recovered well by going 5-1 since then to finish the season with a good chance to retain their 4th star. Washington: The Huskies have jumped in and out of the top 25 all season. With three losses heading into their week 13 matchup with WSU, the Huskies have some work to do to finish in the top 25. Two wins will earn them their 4th star. Anything less is probably going to leave them at 3 stars. Washington State: WSU started strong at 5-0, but has gone 3-3 since then. The season still has to be regarded as a huge step forward for the program, who is certain to earn their 2nd star. Wisconsin: The Badgers (at 7-4) have had a disappointing season. Three consecutive losses in October (MSU, OSU, Purdue) put the fans in Madison in an unfamiliar situation. Wisconsin has a great opportunity to get back into the top 25, but will have to beat division leader Penn State in Happy Valley to do so. If Wisconsin can win their final two games, they will hold onto their 5th star. Anything less will likely result in losing a star.
