Cant say im confused at all. Pretty equal in cost to value imo. BobJr uagrad90 _MG_ Emmdotfrisk Have all had it for a week. They can definitely chime in from a cost to value perspective.
For $10 more a year, XBL provides much greater value in my opinion. Not only are the servers way more secure and stable, but the skydrive/cloud/windows integration is incredibly useful, as is the kinect integration with the service itself. Also, they have a much broader selection of apps, including "HBO GO," which is huge for me. I mean, one of the selling points of PS+ is "cross party chat for up to 8 people" - I actually laughed out loud reading that for the first time. I will say the free games are a nice touch with PS+, but I still feel there's less value there, so the "$10 cheaper" argument is silly (even if all you want to do is play games). The issues with BF4 servers and PSN crashing on launch night are disconcerting (though the former may be DICE's fault, we'll wait and see). The Gaikia acquisition won't result in dedicated servers, while Azure will. Keep in mind, I'm definitely going to own a PS4 and might even keep the one I have now. Both systems are great in their own ways, but I don't like that "it's cheaper" argument. It's not imo.
that's been my biggest question about the two, the party chat... you don't realize how awesome it is until you go without it. i've been on xbox & 360 since PGR2, and bought a PS3 last year to play The Show, and ended up getting NHL to play with a buddy. it bugged the shit out of me to have to text him to tell him which lobby to go in and to have the mic chat end as soon as the final buzzer sounded. having party chat on PS4 makes it a stronger debate as to whether to stick with Xbox One and the extra $100 investment because of Kinect, or to move over to PS4. but, i don't have to make a decision until the spring (if i want to play baseball) or late summer for NHL.
As have I. I agree with I Peench so far. Outside of gaming, there is jack shit to do on PS4. I have Netflix as my only application.
IMO PS Plus is a far better value. When you add up all the free games and discounts they give you, it more than pays for itself. Other than party chat, I never had a problem with PSN compared to Live, and so far everything runs smoothly. I think the Battlefield issues are on EA's end, b/c they've had issues with their PC servers too. Until PS Plus made them look bad, MS didn't give me shit for free. Both systems are lacking certain apps at launch, but updates will add them eventually. I'm the opposite of others. All I care about is the games. That's my biggest fear with the X1. That games will take a backseat to Kinect and the tv stuff.
what exactly did you expect to be able to do? idk aboutyou but i didnt buy my nextgen console to watch tv while I skype on it lol
When I bought my Xbox 360, I bought it to play games. You know what I do on it now? Watch ESPN Watch Netflix Watch Hulu Watch MLB Watch YouTube Watch HBO Go Watch UFC Events I don't have cable...being able to do these things is important to me. Have you ever had an Xbox?
Absolutely, I owned an XBOX 360 (it broke ). I just graduated from college, 2 of my 4 house mates I lived with had a 360 (the smarter roommate and myself had a ps3). I am extremely familiar with Xbox and its capabilities. PS4 has Hulu, Redbox, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, EPIX, YuppTV, Crackle, VUDU, as well as NBA and NHL apps, to go along with the rumored HBO Go app coming very soon. So don't make it sound like there is NOTHING to do on it besides game (which is most PS4 users primary concern anyway). If you want to watch youtube, do it on your phone or computer (or use the PS4 web browser). PS4 is for games.
My review for PS4... PSN is improved. Cross-game chats, voice messages and the lot show how spoiled XBOX 360 users where and how much harder us PS3 guys had to work to be connected. PS+ is awesome and gives free monthly games. Resogun and Contrast are free right now. Well worth the money, and the PS4 comes with a free 30-day trial for PS+. The new controller is very, very nice. A great improvement. I am interested in how the touch pad is implemented into games going forward. This thing is FAST. I have only played Blacklight (free), Warframe (another free game), NBA 2k14 and Madden 25 thus far...but they all look great. I have had no issues with crashes or freezes and the load times are wicked fast. The new interface is beautiful and easy to use, you feel much less isolated than you did on PS3. Being able to stream live from Twitch and being able to watch your friends play will be very cool when big games pop up on the schedule on TSO Overall, I have NO COMPLAINTS. It is exactly what I was expecting, and I have had a heck of a good time playing so far.
Hey, I have both, this isn't a dick measuring contest to me. You asked what I do on my next gen system. The bottom line is that Xbox has FAR more content that appeals to me right now. There is no disputing that.
People get so possessive over consoles. That's why I bought both, so I can be unbiased and play where the good games are. For my PS4, I'll say this:
