It's getting closer.....can you hear it? The sound of cash registers ringing..... No, it's not the holiday retail sales rush. UGH............ Offseason is coming up!!!!! Last few years, the OMFL has done a blind bidding system that has been pretty popular. We are still doing it this year; however, looking at the rules (and a board member PLEASE correct me if I am mistaken in this, read rules last night), it will be a tad different. Remember claim tags? Those still exist, but now they have priority. So claim tag 1/5 is a lot more valuable than tag 5/5. Why? It's the final tiebreaker on salaries. Higher claim tag gets player. And with a limit on max salary offer (remember that guys), and people being smart around spending bonuses (they affect cap hits!), the tag will be the dealbreaker possibly. It's important because there are no rebid periods. 24 hours. 1 shot. Make it or break it. No top 3 rebids as we have done in year's past. So if you see 12 owners going for a guy you want, better bring some cash and your top claim tag or go for somebody else. Now, there WILL be rebids if we have a tie. But here are the three tiebreakers: 1. Base salary - whoever has the higher offer in base salary will win the FA. 2. Bonus - whoever has the higher bonus offer will win the FA 3. Claim tag - higher claim tag gets player. If all 3 of these categories are tied, those owners will be allowed rebids. And, as with previous years, no going lower. Can only stand pat or go up. Read up on the cap rulebook for offseason stuff, or use the link in the OMFL rulebook for free agency as it is a direct link now to all things free agency related ONLY. Did some cleaning up in that area as well, so all links in the OMFL rulebook regarding cap are now good and clean and will give you ONLY what you need to know. If it doesn't, let me know.
