In a glorious Saturday afternoon in Denton, Texas. The Hilltoppers tried to invade the forbidden grounds of the Mean Green and were punted back to Kentucky. In a game where North Texas saw their star RB Lance Dunbar leave the game on his first carry. And his backup, Hamilton, pick up the slack and run for 104 yards on 15 carries. It was NT's punter Atterbury who won the game for Coach Scott Henry.

In a game where defense ruled the field except for a couple long plays by both teams. It was the special teams that played big for NT. With big punt returns all game by the freshman Chancellor, North Texas was to have good field position all game.

But when NT had to punt it was Atterbury's time to shine. He consistently punted the ball high in the air so there was no chance for a return by the Hilltoppers. And not once but twice did Atterbury pin Western Kentucky at the 1 yard line including the final drive of the game when NT was up by 3 and with 3 minutes to go in the game.

"That punt the Atterbury did in the 4th quarter was the reason we won this game." said Coach Scott in his post media conference. "He deserved the game ball for that punt."

A well played game by both coaches and could be a good rivalry game for next year if both coaches are in the SunBelt division.

Final score North Texas 17 Western Kentucky 14
