8 is way too short with the run off and is tough to get a solid, realistic game in.
Happy we are finally doing something about this, 10 for me.
I was hustling through plays trying to get a fast paced going and couldn't get the ball snapped before 10-12 secs left on playclock.
The runoff ticked down to 15 secs every play, no matter how quick I picked. I don't think it's a 15 second runoff from the time.... it almost seems like it's set to run down TO 15 seconds left.
Maybe we should see if 20 second runoff runs the play clock down to 20?
+1 for 10 minutes.
i vote for 10 but thats not the issue really its the play clock thats the problem
I think 10 may be too long but I'm willing to try it
Right now I'll say 9
I vote 8.
You guys realize with 10 minute quarters scores are going to be outrageous and games are sometimes going to take well over an hour right?
We played 8mins with 15 second runoff ALL OF LAST YEAR. Why has most everyone changed their minds?
I think someone mentioned theres a bug thats running off 20 seconds instead... yes its an extra 5 seconds, but off of every run and every completion... that adds up to probably 50% to 70% of a quarter doing nothing, and i feel like an extra 2 minutes is like 5 plays. With the extra time, i think more people would run more which would chew the clock more than incompletions too
We can try it and see how it goes, we can always adjust if scores get crazy but i dont see scores getting THAT crazy as I think players would run to kill clock more late in the game.
And what about the teams that only run the ball 5 times a game? What about those shootout games - what happens in those?
just more time for them to throw interceptions
When I play a PVP game, 8 minutes seems ok, When I play the computer... it is way too fast of a game.
Last year was good, but this year is different. I really do think they have the code switched the wrong way. Since we have 15 seconds selected, instead of taking 15 seconds off the clock, it seems to tick all the way down to 15 every play.
If we switch to 10 minutes, I think you should judge it after a week or 2, and make a managerial decision. If the scores get ridiclous, take it down to 9, and then re-judge.
Ya Sub is right. The play clock is run off to 15 seconds, which means in some cases 20-30 seconds is chewed up. I'm getting around 36 plays a game this year.
the run off is the problem
I've played 2 pvp games and both scores were far from being outrageous. Against the computer people should be running the ball more once a 14 to 21 point lead is established. If this is a real sim league, that is whats suppose to happen. There's going to be some high scoring games I suppose with teams that throw a lot but thats rare just like in real life. I doubt anyone scores that much on me either way.
I had 2 delay of game penalties my last game. I RARELY audible, just takes me awhile to read the defense. The runoff blows.
Id like it to go up with this 20 sec runoff, at least to 9 mins to get more realistic play totals. All of my games have seemed shorter than a "normal" game.
You have A 10 min. quarters and you got someone that is passing alot the game could take A long time. If you are going to change start with 9 and see how that goes. With 10 min quarters I could see guys with 300+ rushing yards with a RB and that would not be realistic. I am happy with the way it is.
Is there anyway to remove the run off completely
Yeah if there is a way to lower the run off then let's decrease that and leave it but if not, just change it to 9 minutes.
The runoff is stuck where it is. I'm not getting rid of it entirely so our only option is where its at currently.
What's the final verdict?
After playing a game at 9 or 10 minutes (I forget which) - I feel pretty strongly that it does not need to be moved.
I would need to see some pretty compelling evidence to move it - the 3on3 game lasted about 1:30 which is just ridiculous.
