The Raiders came into their 1st divisional match up 2-2 on the season... After losing to the Jets week 1 and Cards week 3 they needed a statement game against an always tough divisional foe. Did they make a statement loud enough for the league to take notice? well coach Miki seem to think so... here are his comments after the game:

"After firing our dumb *** defensive coordinator in week 3 we have seen some great improvement by our defense, and if we could play average defensive for the rest of the season yall better watch out cuz our offense is unstoppable and if u pair it up with a half decent defense the sky is the limit for this team"

For the Raiders this season the offensive side of the ball has not been a problem at all, they came into this game leading the league in total yards, 3rd down conversion % and were averaging over 38 points per game, which rank second only behind the 5-0 Colts. This is all thanks to Mr. Brees who has been playing lights out since the start of the season. Another player having a monster season is WR - Heyward-Bey AKA "THE BEAST"who on this game caught 9 passes for 225 yards and 3 TDs, moving his season total to a record 37 catches 899 yards and 7 Tds through 5 games, IF he continues at this rate he will easily break the catching yards total he tied last year.

Now, the other side of the ball is another story, the first 3 weeks of the season the Raiders were last on almost every defensive category, but on their week 4 game against the Rams they showed some promises by holding the Rams to just 7 points. That defensive performance came after the Raiders fired their defensive coordinator and implemented a new style of defense. This week was a great test for the new scheme as they faced the high power offense of the Chargers and they pass the test by forcing the Chargers to 24 points and 4 turnovers while holding them to only 27 yards on the ground.

During this pass off-season the Raiders made some key additions to the defense, which is starting to show some promises with the need defensive scheme.

This game was all about the turnovers, the Raiders were able to force 4 turnovers while the Chargers could not get one. Brees had another great game throwing for 408 yards and 4 TDs to help the Raiders win an important game against the Chargers.

Next up are the 3-0 49ers and another high power offense, lets see how this new defense performs then.

Good game playa, i will see you in a few weeks again.
