    Rangers get 1st win, 5-4!

The top of the order came through for the Rangers today as Borbon and Young each scored 2 runs, and Hamilton scored 1 and drove in the other 4. The Rangers offense needed their defense to pick them up in the end though. The Jays got runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in the 9th and Snider hit a pinch hit single into right field scoring Bautista, but Cruz came up gunning, and got it to the plate just in time to get the tying run, Overbay, out at the plate.

Youngster Derek Holland pitched 7 solid innings, striking out 6 and allowing 3 earned runs. He earned the win, while the flamethrowing rookie Neftali Feliz picked up his first save of the year.

The Rangers went on the road to take on the Mets, and won another game in nailbiter fashion, pulling this one out 4-3. Ian Kinsler and Michael Young were on fire this game going a combined 7 for 9. Kinsler went 4 for 4 with a double and 2 triples, scoring 3 runs, driving a run in, and stealing a base. Young had 2 RBI's on the day. Andrus and Crus also contributed 2 hits each.

Brandon McCarthy went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs over 8 hits and 3 Ks. Chris Ray picked up the win, with the bullpen pitching 3 shutout innings to end the ball game and Neftali Feliz picking up his 2nd save of the season.

Rangers keep streak going, beat Giants 4-0

Pitching won this game for the Rangers. Youngster Chris Volstad took the mound against Todd Wellenmeyer, and he didnt disappoint. Volstad threw 8 shutout innings for the Rangers before turning it over to Frank Francisco for a scoreless 9th. Volstad allowed 7 hits, but was able to get 3 double play balls to help himself out of the jams.

Hamilton and Andrus both got homeruns for the Rangers, with Andrus getting an inside the parker and Hamilton getting a 2 run shot.

Player of the game: Chris Volstad

    WP - Volstad 1-0

The bats were out in full force tonight for both teams, as there were 6 homeruns hit combined for both teams. The Rangers offense was on fire, tallying 20 hits with 2 long balls. Leading the charge for Texas was Vlad Guerrero who went 4 for 6, 3 doubles and a triple with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Hamilton had a big night at the plate as well again, going 4 for 6 with a homerun, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI. The other long ball was hit by Salty. Every Ranger got at least 1 hit in the game.

Taking the hill was Scott Feldman, who gave up 5 runs over 6 innings with 6 K's. O'day pitched 2 innings in relief, with Chris Ray pitching 2/3 of an inning in the 9th, and Feliz coming on for the 1 out save.

Yankees halt Rangers streak, win 8-0

The Yankees lineup started hot and didnt stop. Hitting homers was on the menu, and the Yankees sat down for an all-you-can-eat affair. Homering for the Yankees was Jeter, Teixeira, A-Rod, and Thames.

Lefty Derek Holland just couldnt get a rhythm established on the mound, and gave up 8 runs over 6 and 2/3 innings. Dustin Nippert came to pitch a scoreless inning and a third.

For the Yankees, Wainwright had the Rangers hitters guessing all night, as they were only able to get 6 hits. Each time the Rangers would get guys in scoring position, Wainwright was able to work out of the jams, and the Rangers couldnt get anything going against him on the mound. He went 9 innings for the complete game shutout.

Player of the Game: Adam Wainwright

Rangers score 6 in 9th to win 9-6 against Phillies

The Rangers offense was sluggish to start the game, only scoring 1 run in the first 6 innings, while Volstad and the defense gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning to the Phillies. Fighting in an early hole, the Rangers kept plugging away, wondering when the runs would start to come around, down 5-1 entering the 7th, they were able to put 2 runs on the boards then to make it 5-3 after 7.

In the 8th, the Phillies got some insurance on a solo shot by Raul Ibanez to make it a 6-3 ballgame. The Rangers entered the 9th inning down by 3 with Nelson Cruz at the plate. He lined to right for a single, and scored on Justin Smoak's triple. Smoak scored on Elvis Andrus single to right. Andrus then stole 2nd, which put the tying run in scoring position with no outs, and then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Salty reached first because Rollins threw the ball home, but Andrus wasnt going. David Murphy pinch hit for Chris Ray and grounded to short, but Andrus was going this time, and made it to tie the game at 9. Kinsler then doubled to left scoring Murphy, followed by Hamiltons 2 run single, to make it 9-6.

Neftali Feliz came in to close out the ballgame for the Rangers, and while making it a little more interesting than the manager would have liked, he was able to get through it unscathed and with the Rangers stealing a win on the road.

Player of the game: Elvis Andrus - 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 Runs scored, 1 SB

    Win - Chris Ray

    Loss - Brad Lidge

    Save - Neftali Feliz
