Season 4 5 Burning Questions Heading Into Preseason 1. Can Rockford Odom bounce back from his sophomore slump? No question Odom struggled in year 2, throwing almost as many interceptions (22) as touchdowns (23). He will have to step it up big time if Oakland hopes to get back into the playoffs. 2. Can the defense make more plays? Oakland ranked dead last in interceptions (7) and in the bottom third of sacks. In games I had both a sack and a pick, I always seemed to win. I’m hoping Green can help in the interception departing, and Worilds and Burris can continue to progress and get some pressure on opposing QBs. 3. How short is McFadden’s leash? His ball security issues have been well documented – as have Coach’s frustrations with them. Goodson has some issues with ball security as well, but with Humphrey being drafted one might think McFadden’s time is nearing an end. 4. Will the revamped secondary be an improvement? Oakland has completely cleaned house at the corner position since Coach Peench has arrived. It will be interesting to see how this unit fairs this season without Michael Huff and Phillip Adams. 5. How will Zachary Thornhill fair in his punting duties? Shane Lechler was a stalwart at the punting position. Following his retirement, the Raiders went out and signed Thornhill to a 3 year deal. The young punter out of Kent State has some big shoes to fill.
**Breaking News** Oakland, CA.-The Oakland Raiders have come to terms with the Dallas Cowboys, shipping off former #4 overall pick HB Darrren McFadden in exchange for a 2nd round pick. It is said that despite his big play ability, his ball security issues had become a concern of the organization. Coach Peench and McFadden's relationship continued to sour as Peench's displeasure with McFadden's fumbling became more evident. It is interesting to note that the Raiders visit Dallas in week 4 this season. Former #4 overall pick Darren McFadden will be donning the Dallas star this season I'd imagine Raidernation approves of this move

Offensively, how will the running game fair without McFadden? Odom will need to step it up big time, as well as Goodson. On defense, I moved Cody over to RE to compensate for the loss of Tommy Kelly. He could switch time with Crawford at the nose. I’m hoping that Green isn’t a liability; and instead a playmaker who can grab some interceptions. I don’t really know what to expect of this team, but the goal is to clinch a playoff birth.
Season 4 First Quarter Review Sluggish Start for the Black and Silver Week 1: Broncos 20 Raiders 17 Peyton, still going strong, torches Oakland for 383 yards in the air and a touchdown, but did throw a pick. Oakland third year QB Rockford Odom continues his lukewarm ways, throwing for 177 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. In a surprise move, rookie Emmanuel Humphrey got the starting nod at tailback, and gained 61 yards on the ground and scored. Rookie TE Eric Legaux led the receiving efforts, catching 6 balls for 43 yards and a score. Defensively, MLB Marquise Duncan had 15 tackles, Lamarr Houston had 2 sacks, and Jason Worilds had 1 sack and an interception. Week 2: Redskins 26 Raiders 20 Another terrible day statistically, Odom mustered just 133 yards (2 TDs 0 INT), while the RB tandem of Emmanuel Humphrey and Mike Goodson was completely shut down. Jason Worilds continues his strong start with 10 tackles and a sack, while Darrelle Revis, Chance Green, and Mike Mitchell added interceptions. Week 3: Titans 34 Raiders 13 Rockford Odom throws 2 picks (312 yards 1 TD) in a losing effort to Stevie Lyela (228-1-0), who was drafted in the first round after Odom. Chris Johnson went off on the Oakland defense, gashing them for 144 yards and 2 scores. Meanwhile, Oakland’s running game yet again proved ineffective. DHB led Oakland with 9 receptions for 107 yards, while Jason Worilds got his 3 sack in as many games. Week 4: Raiders 28 Cowboys 20 Rookie Emmanuel Humphrey (112 yards 1 TD) outshines former Raider Darren McFadden (50 yards 1 fumble), as Rockford Odom has his best performance this season (231-2-1). The Oakland defense didn’t register a sack, but did pick Cowboys QB Blaine Gabbert off twice (Darrelle Revis and Marquis Duncan). Resignings: OLB Miles Burris 4/$4.8 million Injuries No major injuries thus far Draft stories -Colorado HB Andrew Niles rushes for 250 yards, 3 TDs in win over rival Colorado State -North Carolina LT Ken Conan is a dominant anchor -BYU WR Anthony Jackson is considered the top WR in the country -UCF QB Pooh Carlson has all the tools, and is a projected first rounder -USC's Jerome Washington is the best RB prospect in a generation
Season 4 Second Quarter Review Silver and Black Back on Track Results: Week 5:Raiders 27 Texans 23 Both quarterbacks were abysmal in this one, as Rockford Odom (170-1-3) and Chad Henne (167-1-2) both turned the ball over too much. Arian Foster dashed for 107 yards and a score, while Emmanuel Humphrey mustered just 44 yards and lost a fumble. Eric Legaux led Oakland with 5 catches for 87 yards, while Demetre Woods essentially won the game with two punt returns for touchdowns. The tandem of Green and Revis is producing exactly the kind of results Coach Peench had hoped for – each adding another interception this game. Lamarr Houston, DeVante Trammell, and Marquis Duncan added sacks. Week 6: Raiders 19 Chiefs 6 The Chiefs entered week 6 a perfect 5-0 with a red hot QB, Jason Campbell. The defense was absolutely dominant, holding Kansas City to just 112 yards of total offense. The biggest surprise of the game was DT DeAndre Crawford, who registered 8 tackles and 3 sacks (Houston and Duncan also contributed sacks). Crawford, a second year player out of Troy, hasn’t put up big numbers at the 0 techinique, but he’s done a fine job eating up space in the middle. It’s exciting to see him contribute in the pass rush, something totally unexpected. Odom had a so-so day, throwing for 189 yards 1 TD and 1 INT, the touchdown pass coming to rookie TE Eric Legaux, who continues to impress. Emmanuel Humphrey lost yet another fumble en route to 40 yards on the ground. Coach Peench’s patience with the rookie is running thin. Week 7: Raiders 26 Eagles 16 Oakland takes down another quality opponent (Eagles are 5-1 and consistently in the playoffs) with another solid defensive performance. Despite giving up 307 yards through the air, the Raiders sacked Vick three times (Burris, Worilds, Trammel) and picked him off once (Duncan). Also, the defense really kept Eagles HB LeSean McCoy in check. On the flip side, Emmanuel Humphrey exploded for 115 yards and a score on just 15 carries. Marcel Reece also added a 63 yard touchdown run. Week 8: Chargers 42 Raiders 17 Rockford Odom melts down with 4 interceptions (0 touchdowns), as the Raiders give this game away. Rivers threw for 218 yards 5 TDs and 1 INT, as the Raider defense failed to get to him once. Both running games were pretty average, while CB Chance Green continues his rookie campaign with yet another interception. The Raiders also conceded a punter return for a TD. Resignings None Injuries No serious injuries Draft Stories: -Superstar Colorado HB Andrew Niles has gone down with an ankle injury, but he believes he can return this season. -UFC QB Pooh Carlson is a dual-threat QB who can run and pass equally well. The only downside is he’s only 6’1. -Notre Dame QB Joseph Martin is making a case for the NFL draft -The best running back in the Pac-16, USC HB Jerome Washington leads his conference in rushing yards and YAC -His amazing route running and exceptional intelligence impresses scouts, but BUY WR Anthony Jackson’s 510 receiving yards in five games impresses fans.

I think the nickel corner spot is an area that needs an upgrade, as Bautista has a ton of pass catches against. Offensively, it all starts and ends with Odom. Until he gets better this team won’t go far. Humphrey will see less carries in the 2nd half of the season, as his rookie year has been mediocre at best. Eric Legaux is everything I thought he would be, and I’m pumped to have a young TE like that. Brandon Myers is having a solid season for Indy, but is doing as well as Legaux.
Season 4 Third Quarter Review The Injury Bug Bites...Hard Week 10: BYE Week 11: Raiders 20 Chiefs 13 A potent KC rushing attack mustered just 17 yards against a stout Oakland defense, which was lead by big DeAndre Crawford (5 TAK, 2 sacks). Odom rebounded with a much better game, going 20-35 for 239 yards 2 TDs and not turning the ball over once. While the running game was nullified, Eric Legaux stepped up with 7 catches for 102 yards and a score. Week 12: Giants 30 Raiders 7 Eli Manning (234-3-0) outshines Rockford Odom (142-1-1) in what was a one sided affair. Really not much to say about the game, as we had no statistics worthy of mention. Lamarr Houston and DaVonte Trammell (the cpu autopick in the 2nd draft) collected one sack a piece, and Marquise Duncan forced a fumble. Two devastating injuries were sustained, however – one to LG Brandon Hill and one to OLB Jason Worilds, as both broke their femurs and are out for extended periods of time. Week 13: Raiders 34 Colts 23 Ex-Raider Brandon Myers had a great day (9-72-1), but he lost to his former team Sunday. Eric Legaux, his replacement, caught 4 balls for 42 yards and a score himself. Odom was much more efficient today (145-2-0), while Andrew Luck came undone with 3 interceptions (332 yards, however). Miles Burris added a sack and an interception, while Tyvon Branch and Marquise Duncan added interceptions as well. Resignings N/A Injuries OLB Jason Worilds – Broken femur (season, maybe longer) LG Brandon Hill - Broken femur (season, maybe longer) WR Demetre Woods – Torn Bicep (4 weeks) FA Signings Former draft target Keenan Shelton (70) joins the Raiders to replace an injured Jason Worilds, who was having a great season at LOLB. Draft Stories -One of the most accurate passers in the nation, Notre Dame QB Joseph Martin has 33 touchdowns and 0 interceptions so far this season -Scouts worry that UCF’s Pooh Carlson is a run-first quarterback, but his passing stats are still impressive. At this point, he has 3200 yards passing this season. -He’s tops in the nation in receiving yards, so it’s no surprise that BYU WR Anthony Jackson is getting all kinds of Heisman praise.
Season 4 Fourth Quarter Review Playoff Hopes Fade Week 14: Steelers 31 Raiders 24 Rockford Odom again solid (191-2-1), but in a losing effort. Relatively unimpressive performance from the running game, and the defense conceded a bit too many yards (358). Marquise Duncan led the defense effort with 14 tackles. Week 15: Raiders 29 Dolphins 27 In what was a must-win game for Oakland, a strong performance from both Goodson (66 yards, 1 fumble) and Humphrey (58 yards, 1TD) led the way. Odom (253-1-1) bested Tannehill (266-2-2), as the defense yet again forced turnovers. Miles Burris had 10 tackles and a sack, while Darelle Revis and Marquise Duncan had the interceptions. The Raiders now improve to 7-7, as a wild card spot is still feasible. Week 16: Raiders 37 Chargers 20 Slim playoff to hopes remain alive for the 8-7 Raiders, though they will need their week 17 game against the #1 seed Broncos. Rockford Odom had a fine game, tossing 3 TDs and racking up 284 yards (1 INT). Phillip Rivers threw for 303 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. Goodson and Humphrey provided a much needed boost, accouting for over 100 yards on the ground and two scores. Defensively, Rolando McClain had 8 tackles and a sack, while Miles Burris and DaVonte Trammell added sacks as well. Marquise Duncan grabs his team high 5th interception from the MLB spot, a very impressive feat. Week 17: Broncos 34 Raiders 21 And with that, the Raiders playoff hopes dissipate. Manning was shut down (197 0 TD 2 INTs), but the running back combination of Ego McKoy and Toby Gerhart exploded for 225 yards and 4 scores. Humphrey lost yet another fumble, while Odom had another very solid performance (275-2-0). Denarius Moore led all receivers with 13 receptions for 141 yards, as Jacoby Ford and Mike Goodson had the TD receptions. Rolando McClain and Jose Bautista had the interceptions for Oakland. Resignings Negotiations have come to stand-still with DT Terrence Cody. The Raiders want him back, but he has reportedly turned down 3 initial offers. Injuries OLB Jason Worilds – Broken femur (season, maybe longer) LG Brandon Hill - Broken femur (season, maybe longer) Draft Stories -An ankle injury has taken down Colorado HB Andrew Niles for the second time this season, In short, scouts love his ability but fear the injury history. -Build him a statue: USC HB Jerome Washington has his career as USC’s all-time leading rusher

I wanted Wynn to help with depth in this department, but he rejected my offer as well. Getting Burris back so cheap is huge, while Shelton can help replace Worilds if he’s hurt for as long as they say he is. Ausberry was broght back for depth.
Season 4 Post-Season Positional Analysis QB: Despite another disappointing season from Odom (83), he is still my guy for now. I’m set here with Flynn (77) as the back up. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0 HB: Goodson (81) is 29 years old, and Humphrey (77) isn’t quite the #1 guy thought he might be. I’m definitely going to look into some guys in the draft, but likely won’t spend money in FA. Scouting priority: 8 FA priority: 0 WR: Darius Heyward-Bey (86), Denarius Moore (85), Jacoby Ford (82), and Rod Streater (76) make for a quality group. Demetre Woods (71) gives me good depth and a return threat. I will not look to FA for anyone, but might check out some in the draft for curiosity’s sake. Scouting priority: 2 FA priority: 0 FB: Marcel Reece (96) is the best in the biz, and just signed a 2 year deal. Set here. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0 TE: Rookie Eric Legaux (81) is a stud. Add to him Jonathon Basil (68) and David Ausberry (65, and I’m all but set here. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0 OL: Totally set here with Veldheer (93), Hill (81), Wisniewski (86), Addison (77), and Tartabull (81). A great group of young players. Addison is hut, and may be out a while still – but Briesel will give me depth there. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0 DL: NT DeAndre Crawford (87) has developed into a beast, and Lamarr Houston (87) is a phenomenal LE. I need to find another body for that DE spot, as well as some depth. Will likely look to FA to find a starter here, and the draft for some youth. Scouting priority: 7 FA priority: 9 OLB: Miles Burris (78) is sensational in his first year, but I need a better rush OLB opposite him. Scouting priority: 9 FA priority: 7 MLB: Rolando McClain (84) and Marquis Duncan (85) are young studs. Omar Gaither (77) gives me depth. I’m set at this position. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0 CB: Revis (95) and Green (77) were the playmakers I’d hoped they’d be this year. I do, however, need help at the nickel. Scouting priority: 7 FA Priority: 3 FS: Glover Quinn Jr (80) is solid, but I will look for some depth and perhaps an upgrade in both the draft and FA. Scouting priority: 6 FA priority: 8 SS: Tyvon Branch (88) and Mike Mitchell (81) are both good. All but set here. Scouting priority: 0 FA Priority: 0 K: Sebastian Janikowski (96). He’s the man, but he’s 35. I will scout this position, only because it’s cheap to do so. Scouting priority: 6 FA priority: 0 P: Zachary Thornhill (81) is a solid young punter fresh off a great season. Scouting priority: 0 FA priority: 0

I would’ve loved Harrison Smith, as I’m not sure Glover Quinn is good enough in coverage. Looks like San Diego and Jacksonville were the big spenders this year.
Season 4 Live Draft Commentary Predraft: I have a sense this will be another solid draft – and I have TONS of ammo in two 1sts and three 2nds. I may have to grab some guys at positions I’m already in good shape at, but I will do my best to take the BPA and hold on to most of my picks, although I can almost guarantee one of those seconds is going to be traded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -The draft is about to begin here at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Raiders fans are here and as crazy as ever, dressed up as if it’s Halloween. -A number of guys I’d take in the first. Going to sit back and let the best player available fall. 1(1): Dolphins – TE Aaron Bergen -These guys always have a top 5 pick or what? 1(2): Panthers – HB Jerome Washington -Shattered every rushing record at HB U…Southern Cal 1(3): Packers – LT Delino Calhoun -Because the Packers always seem to need tackles 1(4): Vikings – QB Pooh Carlson -Got rave reviews as a dual threat QB. 48 wonderlic test. 1(5): Ravens – DT Tavaras Young 1(6): Cardinals – LOLB Wes Beauileu -Pretty much the only rush LB worth a damn in this draft. Would’ve considered him if he fell to me. 1(7): Texans – WR Andrew Taunton 1(8): Bears – HB Andrew Niles -Another guy I was looking forward to potentially picking up 1(9): Chargers – HB KJ Knight 1(10): CB Nate Burchette ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 (18) The pick: Marcus Royal, WR, Michigan. 6’5/242 Huge body at WR that I’m totally confident will ban out, as he seemed to have a “B” attribute on almost everything. After failing on Colvin last year, I hope this guy is the future of my WR corps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1(21) Accidentally autopicked myself here trying to advance. Shit. The pick: Mick Baca, WR, Rutgers. 5'9/191. Really cpu? Another WR? This guy actually looked decent (had scouted him). Small slot guy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Now focusing my attention on RE Davion Smith, HB Kion Minor and CB Xavier Limon -Limon goes to the Saints (1-28) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2(1) The candidates: HB Kian Mino: A solid back who looks quicker than fast, but has great vision. RE Davion Smith: Has high raw intelligence and good strength, but lacks athleticism and BSH The pick: Kian Minor, HB, Arizona. 5'11/202 I was don’t think Humphrey has what it takes to be a #1 back, and I know Goodson is getting old. This pick made sense, but then again so did Smith. Let’s see if Smith falls. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2(18) The pick: Davion Smith, DE, Tennessee. 6’6/317 With Darnell Dockett nothing more than a stop-gap at 35 years old, I’ll need Smith to come develop under him and take over once Dockett leaves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Admittedly, I don’t have many people in the mid rounds whom I’m that attached to. I will probably look to trade my 3rd 2nd rounder. Only so much scouting I can do with no scouting package. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2 (23): I have a ton of teams after this pick, most offering a 2 and a 7 next year. I have a few teams offering up firsts: Arizona, Philadelphia, and Indianapolis. I will trade this pick to Arizona, as I hope they will do the worst of all the teams with offers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -I’m no locked in on a CB, Reshaun Norwood. Guy looks like a stud, and would be great for the nickel behind Revis and Green. -Low and behold, he’s fallen to me at 18. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3(18) The pick: Rashaun Norwood, CB, Nevada. 6’1/202 Norwood has A MCV, B ZCV, B PRC, A SPD, A ACC, C AWR. He looks poised to be a tremendous addition to my secondary, though he does only have F CTH. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -There are a few MLBs I’m looking to drop – Jaron Robinson and Shaldon Kenny. I’d assume one will, just a matter of who to pick. 4(18) The pick: Shalden Kennedy, MLB, Kentucky. 6’2/240 Not the fastest linebacker (C SPD), but he’s a scheme fit with A HPW and great insticts. I need some mre depth at this position, so it’s fills a bit of a need. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Pretty much have nothing left scouting wise. I may trade this last pick, or take a shot in the dark on someone. -Nobody wants to trade, so shot in the dark it is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The pick 7(18): Aaron Barnes, DE, Harding. 6’7/310 Needed some more depth on the DL and I got it here with this small school kid who seems to be a scheme fit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Overall Initial Impression: While I don’t feel I wasted my 2 firsts, I would’ve like to address pass rusher. I still can’t find ANYONE worthwhile that can rush the pass in the 34 in these drafts, something that I think is a huge issue with CCM mode. The autopicked WR hurts, as now I have a million WRs on my roster. I may try to move one of them to improve another position. Overall, I like everyone I drafted, with the exception of my 7th round pick. Initial Draft Grade (Not Knowing Overalls): B+ Riskiest Move: HB Kian Mino. If I miss on yet another HB, I could be in trouble. Sure Bet Pick: CB Reshaun Norwood. He looks like an absolute star in the making, and may push Green for playing time. Guys to Keep an Eye On: CB Xavier Limon (Saints). It’ll be interesting to see how he stacks up with Norwood, as I probably would’ve taken him with my 2nd 1st had I not been autopicked. Unfulfilled Needs: Pass rushing OLB. For the third consecutive draft it seems. I just haven’t found anyone in any of these drafts – it’s really frustrating and making me wish I was a 43 team.
Season 4 Draft Review Round 1 (18): Marcus Royal, WR, Michigan. 6’5/242. Rating: 83 overall Evaluation: Hit a home run with my first pick here, as I’ve got a huge red-zone threat to compliment Legaux. He is a polished route runner, has great hands, and incredible leaping ability. For his size, he’s got solid speed (88). A true #1 WR, something Oakland’s been missing, despite DHB’s best efforts. Round 1 (21): Mick Baca, WR, Rutgers. 5’9/191 Rating: 79 overall Evaluation: A quick, slippery slot guy who should come in right away and contribute. Good route runner and has 98 elusiveness. A Wes Welker clone here, and should pair nicely with Royal for years to come. Not bad for a CPU autopick! Round 2 (1): Kian Minor, HB, Arizona. 5'11/202 Rating: 81 overall Evaluation: Minor is a very balanced back, with solid speed and acceleration, phenomenal agility, and a surprising amount of strength (83). He can run around you or through you. He also has excellent carru (96), something very important to Coach Peench. His ability to read blocks is advanced for a back his age. Round 2 (18): Davion Smith, DE, Tennessee. 6’6/317 Rating: 78 overall Evaluation: Davion Smith is a fantastic pickup here, filling a need and giving me great value. He needs to work on his play diagnosing skills, but he has the frame and strength to grow into a quality starter. He may sit his rookie year behind Darnell Dockett, and be poised to take over once he retires. Round 2 (23): Pick traded to Arizona Round 3 (18): Rashaun Norwood, CB, Nevada. 6’1/202 Rating: 86 overall Evaluation: Wow, and to think, I drafted him to be a nickel back. Norwood instantly leapfrogs #6 pick from last year Chance Green and becomes the #2 corner behind Revis, giving me a potent 1-2-3 combination at the position. He is the perfect corner – but, if I were to find one flaw, it would be his catching ability (58). I’d like to increase that, as this is a defense designed to force turnovers. Round 4(18): Shalden Kennedy, MLB, Kentucky. 6’2/240 Rating: 70 overall Evaluation: Kennedy is a strong, sure tackler who gives me some young depth at MLB behind Duncan and McClain. He isn’t a speed merchant, but he is a solid pick here. Round 7 (18): Aaron Barnes, DE, Harding. 6’7/310 Rating: 70 overall Evaluation: Again, another guy who provides me with good, young depth. For the seventh round, this is a fantastic pick. Upon further review: Xavier Limon (Saints) was a guy I missed on, but he isn’t as good as Norwood. I’m happy with the way this turned out. Draft Grade: A Analysis: This draft went as well as it could have, as even my autopick turned out to be a great fit. I drafted BPA, but didn’t snag the 34 edge rusher I’ve been needing for a while. A lot of these guys will make an instant impact, and I’m excited to see what they bring to the table. This is my best draft by far, and I'm slightly impressed I was able to do this without the scouting package.
**Breaking News** Darius Heyward-Bey will be missed in Oakland Oakland, CA.-Oakland has reached a deal with Cincinnati to send Darius Heyward-Bey to the Bengals for a third round draft pick. Cincinnati reached out to Coach Peench when they saw the depth they had at the WR position following the draft. Heyward-Bey has been tremendous for Oakland, but it's clear Coach Peench thought it was time to shake up a struggling offense. Shortly after the deal was confirmed, Oakland cut WR Jacoby Ford (81) and Rod Streater (75) - making room for the incoming rookies.
Season 5 5 Burning Questions Heading Into Preseason 1. How will the new look WR corps perform? With DHB and Jacoby Ford out of the mix, Coach Peench brings in Marcus Royal and Mick Baca, two touted rookies. Will this help or hurt a struggling Rockford Odom? 2. Is this the year Rockford Odom breaks through? We all know the Iowa product has all the talent in the world, and has the Super Bowl ring to back it up. However, he’s really struggled since his rookie season, and it remains to be seen if he’s the long-term solution at QB. 3. Who will start at HB? With three quality players at the position (Mike Goodson, Kian Minor, and Emmanuel Humphrey), it remains to be seen who will rise to the top of the depth chart. Humphrey had a solid rookie year, but Goodson has the most experience. Meanwhile, Minor is a talented rookie whom the Raiders took high in the 2nd round. 4. How good is Jason Worilds? Nobody really knows, as he seems to get hurt every season. Last year, he got off to a very quick start before breaking his femur, ending his season entirely. The Raiders need more production out of what few pass rushers they have, so Worilds is a key player to watch. 5. Will the Raiders resign Rockford Odom? This is perhaps the biggest question many are asking themselves, as nobody seems to know how the Raiders feel about their former #5 overall pick. While it may be hard to move on from a QB that won you a Super Bowl, he just hasn’t been that good since, and will likely ask for big money.

The biggest question concerning raw talent is the WR position. Getting rid of DHB was a bold, bold move, but I needed to make room for all the youth I had coming in. I’d be surprised if we weren’t in the thick of the playoff race come December, and I’m hoping some fresh blood on offense will revitalize Odom during his contract year.
Season 5 First Quarter Review Odom Starts Strong Results: Week 1: Raiders 38 Bills 22 Rockford Odom gets off to a sensational start, airing it out for 220 yards and tossing 4 touchdown passes. Denarius Moore caught two of those touchdown passes, as he added 7 catches for 79 yards. Rookie Mick Baca caught a touchdown pass as well. Defensively, Marquise Duncan had 7 tacklets and a sack, while Miles Burris and rookie Davion Smith both added sacks as well. Darelle Revis had the lone interception or Oakland, who held the Buffalo offense in check. Week 2: Chiefs 30 Raiders 16 Odom’s fast start didn’t last very long, as he throws two interceptions and musters just 127 yards in the loss. Jamaal Charles runs wild for 119 yards and 2 scores, while rookie HB Kian Minor picks up 97 yards and a score. Rookie WR Marcus Royal led the team in receptions, catching 7 balls for 63 yards. Lamar Houston and Davion Smith had sacks for Oakland. Week 3: Raiders 25 Titans 17 The Raiders defense came up huge, limiting the Titans to just 171 yards of total offense. Rockford Odom exploded for 311 yards and a score, while rookie Kian Minor picked up 92 yards, but did fumble once. Marcus Royal again led Oakland in receptions, grabbing 8 balls for 101 yards, while Eric Legaux had the TD reception. Jason Worilds picked up a sack, defensively. Week 4: Broncos 48 Raiders 34 The Raider defense, which came into the game ranked #1 in the NFL, gets thrashed for 554 yards of total offense. Sam Bradford was perfect (363-3-0), and HB Ego McKoy broke the century Mark. For Oakland, Odom (283-3-1) and Minor (97-2) once again had strong performances, while Denarius Moore caught 10 balls for 148 yards and a score. Rookie WR Marcus Royal added 3 catches, 2 of which were touchdowns. The defense didn’t do all that much, though rookie DE Davion Smith continues to impress with another sack. Season 5 Second Quarter Review A Mixed Bag Week 5: Dolphins 19 Raiders 16 Despite a decent game by Rockford Odom (223-1-1), the Raiders didn’t walk away with the win, thanks in large part to two blocked kicks by the Dolphins. This is a very strange game to recap, as Oakland dominated every statistical category, with the exception of the running game, where Miami had a slight advantage. Jason Worilds did get another sack on the day, though. Week 6: Raiders 27 Chargers 17 A truly balanced attack (164 pass 171 run) paced an Oakland win, as Odom tossed added a TD an INT. Kian Minor continues to impress as a rookie (88-1), and looks to have solidified the job. Emmanuel Humphrey did well as the #2 back (43-1), as he continues to be a reliable option. Jason Worilds added yet another sack. Week 7: Raiders 27 Seahawks 20 Odom had a quiet, yet efficient day (158-2-0), while rookie WRs Mick Baca and Marcus Royal each added touchdown receptions. Kian Minor gained 75 yards through the ground on 19 carries, while Jason Worilds added a sack for the third straight game. Mike Mitchell, who just recently rejected a contract offer from the Raiders, grabbed the lone interception. Week 8: BYE Week 9: Odom had a miserable day (99-0-1), while Kian Minor picked up some of the slack (94-1). Defensively, Jason Worilds gets a sack in his fourth straight game (12 tackles), while Miles Burris and Davion Smith get one each as well. Rookie CB Reshaun Norwood had his first career interception, but it wasn’t enough. It’s frustrating to see Odom not throw the ball as much, but there’s only so much I can control at this point (can’t change pass/run ratio). Great to see all my rookies contributing, and I’m excited for the second half of this season.
A Look Back at the 2013 Draft 1st overall pick: Cleveland Browns – SS Aaron Wessling Reaction: Wessling failed to make a big impact as the #1 overall pick, and at this point can most definitely be considered a “bust”. He was only the started for one season, and has since been replaced by Dexter Cleveland (another top 10 pick by Cleveland). He is currently rated a 78. Where is he now? The back-up SS in Cleveland 2nd overall pick: Jacksonville Jaguars – DT Miguel Gonzalez Reaction: Gonzalez, too, failed to make any impact whatsoever. He’s currently rated a 68, and buried at the very bottom of a deep depth chart for Jacksonville. He’s only collected 11 tackles (3 sacks) in his career. Where is he now? Still on the Jags, but buried at the bottom of their depth chart. 3rd overall pick: St. Louis Rams – LT Exavier Smiley Reaction: Smiley developed into a solid LT for the Ram, and is presently rated an 85 overall. Having started 4 straight years, Smiley can be considered a solid pick here at 3, though he has given up 41 sacks in 10 years. Where is he now? Smiley just signed a 5 year deal to remain St. Louis’ starting LT 4th overall pick: New York Jets – HB Michael Astro Reaction: This one is tough to figure out, as Astro (83) hasn’t developed at all, nor has he been given much of a chance. In fact, he only has a career total of 9 carries. Despite being the highest rated HB on their roster, the Jets seem to prefer Shaun Blood, whom they drafted in round 2 of the very same draft as Astro. Where is he now? Despite being the highest rated HB on the Jets, he isn’t getting any carries. He’s in the last year of his rookie contract, and it’ll be interesting to see if New York resigns him. 5th overall pick: Oakland Raiders – QB Rockford Odom Reaction: Odom started his career about as well as he could’ve, winning a Super Bowl as a rookie. He did, however, lose the vote for AFC ROTY to Stevie Lyelet, another QB. Since that season, Odom has really struggled to settle in as a starting QB in the NFL, throwing a number of interceptions along the way. It remains to be seen how this pick turned out, especially compared to the 2 prominent QBs (Lylela and Jeremiah Saunders). Where is he now? Odom, still seemingly the QB of the future in Oakland, is in the final year of his rookie deal. His performance this year very well may decide his fate. Other noteworthy players I passed on: 8th overall pick: Miami Dolphins – QB Jeremiah Saunders Reaction: Why the CPU took a QB in this draft after having Tannehill (another 8th overall pick) is beyond me. Having said that, he’s only really started playing this season, and has done well thus far (87.5 QBR, 1599 yards, 15 TDs, 18 INTS). Those stats, as a matter of fact, are better than Odom’s – but he’s only rated an 80 overall. 10th overall pick: Tennessee Titans – QB Stevie Lylea Reaction: Lyela edged Odom for ROTY honors his first season, but obviously didn’t have the overall success Odom did, as his team failed to make the playoffs. Since that season, his production has tapered off, as he has a career QBR around 82. In terms of straight statistics, he has had a better career than Odom thus far, though his overall (81) is slightly lower. 20th overall pick: Dallas Cowboys – CB Iran Lee Reaction: The player I would’ve taken had I decided to pass on a QB, Lee looked like an absolute stud. As a four year starter for the Cowboys, Lee has had some solid production. He has not, however, been the ball hawk scouts once thought he’d be (5 career interceptions). Where is he now? Lee, now an 89 overall, is in a contract year with Dallas. He still remains a starter for the ‘Boys. 2nd round (11): Seattle Seahawks – RG Parker Steele Reaction: I had a tough time passing on Steele, but I saw greater depth at G position, so instead took a RT Na’Quan Tartabull. Steele has had a solid career for the Seahawks, starting every season he’s been in Seattle. Where is he now? Steele is still a starter in Seattle (83 ovr), and is in his contract year. 4th round (18): Tampa Bay Buccaneers – OLB Keenan Shelton Reaction: If you’ll recall, I was targeting Keenan Shelton, but missed out on him. He ended up going to Tampa, where he didn’t fit into their scheme. He had a solid rookie campaign, totaling 52 tackles. Afterwards, he saw his time and production greatly reduce. Where is he now? Interesting enough, he was signed by Oakland as a FA a season ago. He is now a 71 overall and a backup at LOLB.
Season 5 Third Quarter Review Picking Up the Pace Results: Week 10: Raiders 47 Chargers 6 An absolutely dominant performance across the board, and hopefully a game we can use as a springboard for our playoff push. The defense held the Chargers to just 82 yards of total offense, while sacking QB Tony Romo 5 times and picking him off once. Davion Smith and DeAndre Crawford had 2 sacks a piece, while Marquise Duncan had the 5th. FS Glover Quinn had the lone interception. Meanwhile, Rockford Odom had a great day (377 yards 5 TDs) despite two interceptions. Marcus Royal (7 catches 104 yards) had two TD receptions, while Denarius Moore, Mick Baca, and Eric Legaux had the remaining ones. Meanwhile, rookie HB Kian Minor had a sensation day on the ground (177 yards, 2 TDs). Week 11: Raiders 31 Cardinals 0 Back to back impressive wins for the Raiders, who take a game from the Cardinals – a franchise whose first round pick they own (double win). The defense was once again dominant, holding Arizona to just 198 total yards (5 sacks 1 INT). Miles Burris had 3 of the sacks, while Davion Smith and Jason Worilds added the other two. FS Glover Quinn Jr had another interception for Oakland. Offensively, Rockford Odom strung another impressive game together (287-2-0), as Marcus Royal caught 9 balls for 97 yards and Jermichael Colvin and David Ausberry had the TDs. Kian Minor and Emmanuel Humprey combined for 59 yards each (Humphrey 1 TD). Week 12: Jets 48 Raiders 28 The New York offense had their way with a previoiusly red hot Raiders defense Sunday night, putting up 511 yards of total offense (362 pass/149 rush). Jets QB Matt Williams was perfect (362-3-0), while Rockford Odom had a mediocre day (160-1-1). Humphrey (91-2) and Minor (87-1) had impressive days, and Marquise Duncan and Jason Worilds added two sacks. Week 13: Raiders 24 49ers 24 A tie? Ugh. Odom throws for 308 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT, while 49ers QB Marvin Stephens has his way with the Oakland defense (282-2-0). Keenan Shelton had 2 sacks for Oakland, while Lamarr Houston had one. DT DeAndre Crawford was carted off with a pulled groin, he should be back in action soon. Injuries DT DeAndre Crawford – Pulled groin Resignings MLB Omar Gaither: Contract accepted, 2/$2.6 million OLB Jason Worilds: Contract accepted, 4/$5.40 million Draft Stories -Florida State QB Carl Elliot refused to be sacked this week, and because of that he ended up throwing the game-winning touchdown in overtime -After a 415-yard, three touchdown performance against USC, scouts are starting to compare Washington State QB Donald Breer to top QB Carl Elliot. -Memphis WR Dexter Tarvin showed outstanding feel and hands this season, culminating in 12 catch game in the Big East championship -Notre Dame’s defense has looked human with CB Michael Jones slowed by a bad ankle. Scouts are unsure if he’ll ever be the same player he once was.
**BREAKING NEWS** After much speculation, Odom signs long-term deal Oakland, CA.- Many wondered whether or not Rockford Odom deserved a big contract following three disappoint years. But, he has won this team a Super Bowl, and is having a fine season this year. "We believe Rockford has all the tools necessary to be a big time QB in this league, and he has my full vote of confidence," Coach Peench explained to the media Wednesday. "I couldn't be happier to have him on board moving forward". Analysis: An interesting move here, as many aren't sold on Odom for the long-term. I'm surprised they offered him such a long deal, particularly with 2 1st round draft picks, and perhaps the best QB prospect we've seen in a decade (Carl Elliot).
