Team Analysis: The big issues for me here are the MLB and WR positions. I believe losing McClain could be a huge problem moving forward, and the addition of Sims is high risk/high reward. I do believe this team has enough to win the division, however, and anything less would certainly disappoint me.

    **BREAKING NEWS**

Oakland, CA.- Starting WR Denarius Moore broke his femur in Saturday's preseason game. He will be out indefinitely. While at first this seems like a huge loss for the Raiders, it could help clarify a cloudy WR situation.

    First Quarter Review

    Week 1: Raiders 31 Brown 28
Alex Smith lights up the Raiders’ secondary (305-2-0), but Oakland hangs on in the opener. Rockford Odom, fresh off a lucrative contract extension, had a pedestrian day for the Raiders (154-0-0), while Kian Minor added 94 yards and a score on the ground. Defensively, Davion Smith continued to impress after a fine rookie season, collecting a sack and 3 tackles.

    Week 2: Bills 24 Raiders 21
4 turnovers (2 interceptions, 2 fumbles) doomed the Raiders Sunday, as Rockford Odom seemed uncomfortable in the pocket all game long (153-2-2). Benjamin Mims and Mick Baca had the touchdown receptions for Buffalo, while Lamarr Houston, Miles Burris, and Jason Worilds added sacks. Again, no interceptions for Oakland.

    Week 3: Raiders 31 Ravens 20
208 yards rushing (146 and 2 scores from Kian Minor) paced an Oakland victory Sunday, as Rockford Odom added 208 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. Benjamin Mims led all receivers with 7 catches for 72 yards, while Mick Baca had the TD reception. While Oakland again failed to intercept a pass, Miles Burris did get to the QB for a sack.

    Week 4: Raiders 41 Bengals 24
Odom had a quiet, yet efficient game (172-1-0), while Kian Minor added 99 yards and a score. Marcus Royal led the receiving efforts with 8 catches for 73 yards, while Eric Legaux caught the touchdown pass. Another game failing to get an interception, but Worilds added another sack.

    Injuries
    WR Denarius Moore (broken femur-season)

    Resignings
    N/A

    Draft Stories
-Illinois State WR Dan Layden is a dominating small school wideout who has 36 catches, 657 yards, and six touchdowns in his first three games.
-Unknown QB Ryan McNeilly out of Oio is having a breakout season, and his exceptional mobility is making scouts take notice.
-Kentucky LE Jason Shields is known for his exceptional run-stopping ability, and in a big upset of seventh-ranked Miami he recorded 2.5 sacks.
-It’s only week 1 of the college season, but there’s already so much hype surrounding Ohio State RE Alvaro McClain. At this point, he’s expected to be the top pick in the draft.

    Second Quarter Review

    Week 5: Broncos 33 Broncos 21
Despite a solid effort from Odom (222-1-0), Sam Bradford got the best of Oakland (248-2-0). No real noteworthy statistics, other than 4 sacks for Oakland: Davion Smith (2), Kenneth Crenshaw (1), and Miles Burris (1). Still no interceptions for Oakland as a team this season.

    Week 6: Steelers 25 Raiders 17
Odom was quiet again (195-1-0), but it was the Oakland defense getting their first two picks of the year that made headlines. Paul Kruger and Davion Smith had sacks, while Marquise Duncan and Chance Green had the interceptions. Still not sure how we lost this one.

    Week 7: Chargers 13 Raiders 10
Despite dominating every statistical category, the Raiders fall Sunday to the Chargers. Rockford Odom threw for 170 yards and 1 score, while Kian Minor grinded out 77 yards on the ground. Defensively, Kenneth Crenshaw and Davion Smith collected sacks.

    Week 8: Bye

    Week 9: Broncos 32 Raiders 21
Broncos give up 400 passing yards to Sam Bradford in the loss. Rockford only mustered 96 yards passing before an injury, and Matt Flynn came in as his replacement. Paul Kruger (2 sacks, 1 INT) and Davion Smith (1 sack) led the charge defensively, while MLB Marquise Duncan added an interception.

    Resignings
Matt Flynn: Contract accepted: 2/$4.8 million
    RG Michael Addison: 4/$4.2 million

    Resignings
SS Tyvon Branch: contract accepted, 4/$13.76 million
LE Lamarr Houston: Contract accepted, 5/$25.5 million
P Zachary Thornhill: Contract accepted, 4/$3.8 million
DT DeAndre Crawford: Contract accepted, 4/$4.2 million
    FS Glover Quinn: Contract rejected

    Draft Stories
-Texas entered the season unranked because of a lack of running game, but HB Julio Caulder has changed all that, emerging as a solid runner for the Longhorns
-After becoming the Irish starter in week 3, QB AJ Cleary has shown he’s efficient, accurate, and mobile. However, his arm strength is a concern at the pro level.
-Most scouts had not heard of Kansas State TE Kent Mask, but after a 10-reception performance vs rival KU he’s getting serious looks.
-A two-sack outing for Oklahoma ROLB Sam McCurdy against Texas’ top-ranked offensive line has him flying up draft boards – well above his preseason 5th round projection.

    Midyear Review

With his team struggling, Coach Peench is looking for answers

    AFC West Standings
    Broncos 6-2
    Chargers 5-3
    Chiefs 4-4
    Raiders 3-5

-Lions are a perfect 8-0, and the Broncos are the second best team in the NFL at 6-2

    Team Statistics of Note
    30th in total offense
    30th in passing offense
    14th in rushing offense
    22nd in total defense
    20th in passing defense
    6th in rushing defense
    12th in team sacks (17)
    31st in team interceptions (4)

    Individual Statistics of Note
QB Rockford Odom: QBR 84.4, 61% completion, 1368 yards, 8 TDs, 4 INTs
HB Kian Minor: 136 carries, 628 yards, 4 TDs, 2 fumbles
WR Marcus Royal: 45 catches, 526 yards, 1 TD
TE Erig Legaux: 29 catches, 221 yards, 2 TDs
WR Benjamin Mims: 24 catches, 348 yards, 3 TDs
MLBMarquise Duncan: 7 tackles, 2 INTs, 1 blocked kick
DE Davion Smith: 42 tackles, 6 sacks

    Projected Pro Bowlers: None

Analysis: A fairly miserable start to the season, I completely fail to understand some of these trends. I have an insane corps of cornerbacks and athletic linebackers, yet can’t intercept a ball off for my life. Also, I can’t change my offenses tendencies (more passing), and Odom is just not airing it out at all. Very frustrating, and I look to be on the outside looking in again.

    Third Quarter Review

    Week 10: Raiders 29 Packers 23
Rockford Odom (226-1-1) bested Aaron Rodgers (216-1-1) in a hard fought contest at Lambou. While neither running game was all too effective, the Raider defense accumulated three sacks (Kruger, Crenshaw, Houston), while Quinton Carter added the interception. Mick Baca had the lone touchdown reception for Oakland, as Marcus Royal left with a dislocated ankle.

    Week 11: Raiders 51 Chiefs 14
Where the hell did this team come from? 400 yards passing?! 6 sacks?! An awesome performance, as Odom had 5 TD passes, while Benjamin Mims had his breakout game (9 catches 141 yards 1 TD). TE Eric Legaux added 3 TD catches as well. DeAndre Crawford (2), Lamarr Houston (2), Paul Kruger (1), and Devonte Burns (1) had the sacks, while Chance Green added an interception. Hopefully this rivalry win can jump start this team. It’s not too late!

    Week 12: Raiders 52 Vikings 21
Seriously, this is the strangest team ever. Raiders continue their torrid offensive performance, as Kian Minor blasts Minnesota for 141 yards and 3 scores. Rockford Odom threw for 238 yards and 3 scores, while Eric Legaux added another TD reception. Defensively, Lamarr Houston (2), Darnell Dockett (2), and Paul Kruger (1) all had sacks, while Quinton Carter got his second pick on the year.

    Week 13: Chargers 29 Raiders 10
Well, I enjoyed that short-lived offensive explosion. Offense is totally neutralized in this one, as Odom throws 1 TD (Legaux) and 2 interceptions. Yet again, the defense fails to get an interception, as Lamarr Houston had the lone sack.

    Injuries
DE Davion Smith – Upper Arm Fracture
WR Marcus Royal – Ankle fracture

    Resignings
WR Demetre Woods – Contract rejected

    Draft stories
-Some early-season, Vick-like highlghts brought buzz to Ohio QB Ryan McNeily, but he’s also improved his accuracy and arm strength throughout the year.
-Kentucky won the SEC championship game, and the Kentucky defense pitched a shutout. This was in large part because of leader Jason Shields, who finished with three TFLs and a sack.
-With three sacks and four pressures against Kentucky, Ohio State RE Alvaco McClain led the Buckeyes’ defense to a big win.

I think that loss of Moore hurt more than you thought it would, and tho your defense has played well, it isn't the big play makers you were hoping they would be for you. Odom seems to kind of regressed after the big contract and in the long run could hurt you if doesn't start playing up. Hopefully you right you the ship soon.

    Fourth Quarter Review
Late Rally Falls Short - Again

    Week 14: Bears 23 Raiders 17
Raiders fall to 6-7, as their playoff hopes continue to fade. Odom and Flynn both throw picks, as Odom goes out early with an injury. Matt Forte runs all over the Oakland defense (163-1-1), while the Oakland running game is shut down. Paul Kruger and Lamarr Houston had sacks for the Raiders, while Tyvon Branch added an interception (a true rarity for Oakland).

    Week 15: Raiders 52 Chiefs 13
Man, something about this Chiefs team that Rockford Odom loves. He throws for over 400 yards on them (again), and 5 touchdowns. Marcus Royal catches 10 passes for 19- yards and a score, while TE Eric Legaux racks up 3 touchdown passes. Kian Minor gets 94 and a score on the ground, while DeAndre Crawford adds three sacks. Chance Green and Quinton Carter got picks for Oakland in the win. With their backs up against the wall, this is an impressive result for Coach Peench and his team.

    Week 16: Raiders 49 Jaguars 10
The hot streak continues, as Odom again throws for 400 yards and 5 scores, as Marcus Royal catches 4 of those 5. Kian Minor again eclipses the 100 yard mark, while Tyvon Branch picks off Jacksonville QB Ladarris Vaughns twice. Miles Burris had two sacks, and Paul Kruger had one. The playoff hopes still look quite dim, as it’d take a miracle to clinch a birth, even with a win in week 17.

    Week 17: Raiders 38 Lions 24
The Raiders continue to tear it up of late, taking down the best team in the NFL by a two score margin. Rockford Odom starred in the win, throwing for 380 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Kian Minor ran for 122 yards and a score. Marcus Royal (2), Eric Legaux (1), and Mick Baca had the receiving touchdowns for the Raiders, who performed equally as well on defense. Chance Green and Darrelle Revis had interceptions for Oakland, Davion Smith (2), Lamarr Houston (1), and Marquise Duncan (1) added sacks. Unfortunately, the Raiders seem to be out of the playoff picture – ending another disappointing season.

    Draft Stories
-It was an unbelievable effort by Illinois State WR Dan Layden, who caught 32 passes and five touchdowns in his last four games to lead ISU to a national championship.
-Notre Dame QB AJ Cleary’s Hail Mary pass did note even travel to the end zone, and the Irish lost their bowl game. This will only raise more doubts about his arm strength.
-It was a superstar performance by Texas HB Julio Caulder on college football’s biggest stage as he led the Longhorn’s to a national championship.
-It was a huge Fiesta Bowl showing for Oklahoma ROLB Sam McCurdy. He is a great pass rusher with endless amounts of tenacity.

Analysis: A tale of two seasons for the Raiders, as this team completely turned itself around down the stretch, only to fall just shy of the playoffs (again). Odom continues to solidify himself as a franchise QB, and my offense seems to be coming along nicely. I continue to need to make more plays defensively, though the sack numbers are great.

Analysis: very quiet FA period for the Raiders, as we're trying to buckle down financially and have a plethora of picks to fill depth. The Titans, Redskins, and Cardinals all making big moves in free agency, while Rolando McClain goes to Philly. Will be interesting to monitor his production.

Looks like the Titans are spending big money.. McCoy, Peppers and Merian who is a nice west coast QB. I have him in my CCM.

For sure. I'm surprised Merian has been bounced around as much as he has. Teams don't keep and develop 1st round picks like you'd like to see, as Merian was pretty successful

    Season 6

    NFL Draft

Going in, I don’t have many needs. I will go BPA for the most part, but could use an upgrade at RT and FS for sure. I have a ton of guys I’m looking at in the first, and will sit back and hope to snag one of them. While it sucks to constantly just miss out on the playoffs, I feel as though I can do damage with the 18th pick here, especially considering I have two thirds.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1(1) Jaguars – WR Clifton Faulk
1(2) Titans – QB Rob Bell
1(3) Redskins – CB Josiah Smith
1(4) Lions – RE Alvaro McClain
1(5) Vikings – DT Charlie Hunt
1(6) Browns – HB BJ Graves
1(7) Panthers – CB Dezrick Shaw
1(8) Chiefs – QB Ken Marshall
1(9) Eagles – LE Wisler Travis
    1(10) 49ers – OLB Cedric Robins

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Right now a few players I’m looking at here are LT P.L. Webb, RT Bobby Krautman, LT Jewone Thomas, C John Scroggins, DT Demetrius Ashley, and DT Jerry Archer.

-Storyline player Julio Caulder (HB) goes to the Chargers at 11

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1(18)
    The candidates:
LT Jewone Thomas: Athletic left tackle that has great strength and pass blocking skills.
DT Jerry Archer: Nose tackle – strong, space eater that will give me good depth after losing some players to FA
C John Scroggins: Looks like a very good center. I’m without a back-up here, but it might be a bit of a reach.
The pick: LT Jewone Thomas, Colorado, 6’4/314
Simply the best player on my board right now. Tartabull has struggled, and Verhledeer is on the last year of his deal.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Looking for Scroggins, Ashley, or Archer to fall to me now

-Scroggins (great name) goes to Detroit with the 32nd pick

-Bobby Krautman goes to the Saints – he was definitely on my radar.

-P.L. Webb goes to the Bengals at 2(6)

-Ashley and Archer are here for me at 2(19)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2(18)
    The candidates:
    DT Demetrius Ashley
    DT Jerry Archer
Two very similar players, but Archer’s intangibles seem a bit higher.
The pick: DT Jerry Archer, BYU, 6’2/322

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Ashley goes with the first pick in the third round to St. Louis

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3(7)
The pick: FS Terraine Langi, Ball State, 6’2/218
Wasn’t too much to pick from here, but Langi looks like a decent athlete who can back up Hill. I can’t see him coming out any better than him, however. Love his size.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3(18)
The pick: Traded for Cincinnati’s 2nd next year. Not a whole lot I’ve scouted here.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-TE Marcus Harper and HB Sam Campbell are now my two targets. Let’s see if either falls.

    -Both have fallen

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4(18)
    The candidates:
TE Marcus Harper: Not the biggest or fastest of players, but looks to be a solid overall TE with good intangibles. Wish I’d scouted his run blocking ability, as that could be a make/break.
HB Sam Campbell: A freak athlete with exceptional speed, agility, and elusiveness. Disappointing to me that he has F return.
The pick: TE Marcus Harper, New Mexico State, 6’3/257
The only logic here was that I believe I can get Campbell in the next round. That’s the hope at least.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-The anxious wait for Campbell commences. If he’s gone, I will go returner or FB.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Campbell falls! Thrilled. Should make up for Humphrey’s regression/lack of production at the #2 back.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    5(18)
The pick: HB Sam Campbell, Baylor, 5’9/201
Superior athlete who can catch the ball out of the backfield. Will do well in my west coast scheme.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Now looking at FB or returner. WR Devon Givens is my return target, while Effrem Narcisse and Akiee Atwater are the two fullbacks I’m looking at.

    -And they all go. Sheet.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    6(18)
The pick: CB Marcos Morant, Villanova, 6’0/198
Shot in the dark. Only reason I took him is because he went to Villanova. Should be interesting. I hope he has some return ability.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Really nobody left on my board. I, unfortunately, will take another shot in the dark. I clearly didn’t scout well enough, definitely thought a FB would fall

    7(18)
The pick: Traded to NE for a 6th next year
Just made sense seeing as there was nobody I felt comfortable taking

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall Initial Impressions: I’m really unsure of this one, to be totally frank. I definitely screwed up the later rounds of my draft by poor preparation, but I feel as though the DT and LT I got should be very solid. Still, a few needs left unadressed.

Initial Draft Grade (Not Knowing Overalls): C

Riskiest Move: FS Terraine Langi. Really not sure what to think, but I just didn’t have too many guys scouted I deemed worthy of this pick.

Sure Bet Pick: I don’t really know if there is one this year, definitely doesn’t feel like one of my best drafts. DT Jerry Archer is probably the closest thing to one, however.

Guys to Keep an Eye On: RT Bobby Krautman. I already sort of regret not taking him with my 18th overall.

Unfulfilled Needs: I definitely needed a returner and a back-up FB. I got neither.

    Season 6

    Draft Review

Round 1 (18): LT Jewone Thomas, Colorado, 6’4/314
    Rating: 84 overall
Evaluation: Good value here, and he looks poised to take over for Veldheer or Tartabull. Tartabull has struggled, while Veldheer is in a contract year. Great insurance policy, and he’ll find time somewhere.

Round 2 (10): DT Jerry Archer, BYU, 6’2/322
    Rating: 81 overall
Evaluation: Gives me a great option here behind Crawford, and has the flexibility to play the 5 technique. Incredibly strong with some explosiveness as well. Another solid value here in round 2.

Round 3 (7): FS Terraine Langi, Ball State, 6’2/218
    Rating: 59 overall
Evaluation: Big time strike out here, as there’s really nothing in this guy’s game I like. A total failure to find a viable option behind Aerion Hill

Round 4 (18): O TE Marcus Harper, New Mexico State, 6’3/257
    Rating: 70 overall
Evaluation: Not the biggest of tight ends, but has good blocking skills and is a solid athlete. As I was looking for someone with blocking ability, this is a good pick for me here. Should compete with Basil to be my #2 tight end.

Round 5 (18): HB Sam Campbell, Baylor, 5’9/201
    Rating: 74
Evaluation: Cambell with excellent trucking ability – giving him a very unique skillset. Not the most agile of backs, but has limited ball security concerns. Will push Humphrey for carries.

Round 6 (18): CB Marcos Morant, Villanova, 6’0/198
    Rating: 61 overall
Evaluation: Another kid that turned out way worse than I’d hoped. Pure special teams player who may not be on the roster after this season.

Upon further review: RT Bobby Krautman (Saints), whom I passed over for Thomas, was an 82. Safe to say I made the right call there. DT Demetrius Ashley (Rams), whom I passed up for Archer, is a 79 overall. Again, right call was definitely made.

    Draft Grade: B-

Analysis: I had a few swing and misses, but Thomas, Archer, Harper and Campbell make this a worthwhile draft. Will be interesting to see how they fit in here year one. Missing on the FS really hurts this overall grade.

5 Burning Questions Heading into Preseason

    1. Will Denarius Moore ever come back? The fractured femur, originally listed as a 23 week injury, still has Moore out. It remains to be seen if he can come back from the horrific injury, or what he'll be like if he does.

    2. Is there enough firepower at FS? Aerion Hill showed flashes in his rookie year, but the Raiders whiffed on finding him a solid back-up in the draft or free agency. Let's hope Hill can improve and stay healthy.

    3. Will Odom continue to ascend? The quarterback has no strung 2 incredible seasons together, can he make it 3?

    4. Can this team finally grab some interceptions? The secondary has playmakers - yet can't seem to get any interceptions, finishing near the bottom nearly every year.

    5. Where does Jewone Thomas fit in? The 1st round pick may not see much time this year, barring injury. Or will he? Many believe Coach Peench will find room for him somewhere along the line, and Tartabull may be on a short leash.

    First Quarter Review
Silver and Black Off to Hot Start

    Week 1: Raiders 38 Bucs 14
Despite throwing 3 interceptions, Rockford Odom opened the season with 341 yards and 3 scores. Kian Minor added 103 yards and a score, while Benjamin Mims (2) and Eric Legaux (1) had the touchdown catches for Oakland. Davion Smith, Deontae Burns, and Lamarr Houston each had a sack for Oakland, as they open the season with an impressive win.

    Week 2: Raiders 26 Saints 14
Raiders start the season 2-0, thanks in large part to two great defensive performances. In this one, the Oakland D held the Saints offense to just 215 yards, while forcing two turnovers. Matthew Stafford (144-1-2) threw picks to both Aerion Hill and Rashawn Norwood, and Paul Kruger (2) and Miles Burris (1) had sacks. Rockford Odom (189-1-1) was steady, while Kian Minor added 86 yards. Marcus Royal led all receivers with 7 catches for 78 and the lone touchdown reception. Former Raider target, RT Bobby Krautman, surrendered two sacks in the loss.

    Week 3: Raiders 19 Broncos 13
The defense continues to roll, picking off Sam Bradford 3 times and sacking him once. FS Aerion Hill had two interceptions, while Darrelle Revis had the other. Meanwhile, Miles Buirris continues to have a strong start, adding the lone sack. Rockford Odom was quiet in this one, throwing for just 179 yards with no scores or interceptions.

    Week 4: Raiders 35 Chiefs 24
An extremely balanced attack (278 passing 230 rushing) paced an all important divisional win Sunday, as Rockford Odom (278-2-0) edged the player that beat him out for ROTY seasons ago, Stevie Lyela (273-2-0). Rookie HB Sam Campbell went off, dashing for 110 yards and a score. Meanwhile, Kian Minor had 93 yards and 2 scores of his own. Eric Legaux led all receivers with 7 catches for 62 yards and a score, while Davion Smith and Miles Burris added sacks.

    Resignings
C Stefan Wisniewski: Contract accepted, 4/$16.2 million
TE Eric Legaux: Contract accepted, 5/$38 million
LT Jared Veldheer: Contract accepted, 5/$50.5 million
    CB Chance Green: Contract rejected

    Injuries
C Stefan Wisniewski – Broken Jaw (2 weeks)

    Draft Stories
--After absorbing a load of punishing hits in school, many scouts are not sure if Arkansas WR Sean Hill can survive in the NFL
-Wisconsin CB Fred Marshall is a do-it-all defensive back who should be the first one taken by the time the NFL draft rolls around
-Ohio State ROLB John Hurst has recorded 13 sacks in his first three games of the season. He is on pace to shatter the NCAA record, and has exhilarated scouts in the process.
-A showcase of explosiveness and agility, Alabama HB Steven Grant amassed 221 yards rushing in the season opener
-AN injury in the last year’s season opener shelved Notre Dame QB Terry Carter for the entire season. But he has returned with high expectations and a great supporting cast.

    Season 7

    Second Quarter Review
    Rollin'

    Week 5: Raiders 19 Colts 9
The defense continues to win us games, despite Odom’s very mediocre play (193-0-0). Paul Kruger (2) and Miles Burris (1) sacked Andrew Luck, while Darrelle Revis picked him off. Neither running game impressed. The Raiders are now off to a 5-0 start, by far their best under Coach Peench.

    Week 6: Raiders 49 Titans 10
The best team in the NFL took on the worst team in the NFL (Titans 1-5), in what was a predictable finish. Odom finally had the breakout game he was looking for, throwing for 376 yards and 5 scores. Tennessee QB Jason Merian struggled (221-1-2), as Darrelle Revis picked him off twice on the afternoon. Paul Kruger also added two sacks, while Davion Smith picked up one. Marcus Royal had himself a day, catching 8 balls for 3 scores, while both running games failed to materialize. Bucs funny how all that money spent in FA has backfired.

    Week 7: Raiders 29 Texans 13
The Raiders perfect start continues, as they now improve to a league-leading 7-0. Defense continues to be this team’s strong suit, holding Houston to just 230 yards and 13 points. While there were no outstanding performers on that side of the ball, Kenneth Crenshaw did grab an interception. Rockford Odom threw for 177 yards 1 score and 1 TD, while Kian Minor galloped for 111 yards and a score.

    Week 8: Bye

    Week 9: Raiders 37 Broncos 7
Man, this team is hot as hell! Very, very fun to see all these GM moves finally start to pay off after several disappointing seasons. The defense was again superb, but the rushing attack was the real story in this one. Kian Minor collected 128 yards and a score on the ground, while rookie HB Sam Campbell continues to prove a solid #2 back with 70 yards himself. Odom only threw for 167 yards, but did manage 3 TDs and no turnovers. Mick Baca, Marcel Reece, and Emmanuel Humphrey were the recipients of those touchdown passes. Defensively, Kenneth Crenshaw, Paul Kruger, and Lamarr Houston each had sacks for Oakland, while Darrelle Revis and Joe Bautista each had an interception. Oakland now improves to a perfect 8-0, and looks poised for a playoff run.

    Resignings
SS Quinton Carter: Contract accepted, 2/$2.2 million

    Injuries
RG Miles Rotherman – Knee cartilage tear (6 weeks)

    Draft Stories
-Scouts love Wisconsin CB Fred Marshall’s dominating physical abilities, but they questin his ability in zone coverage
-A mauler of a guard, Carl Gallego has been the focus of the Va Tech running game, but his pass-protection still needs work
-A walking big-hit highlight reel, Penn State FB Conrad “The Hammer” Ratliff is beloved by teammates, and is an upbeat prankster in the locker room.

Coach Peench and QB Rockford Odom have started a perfect 8-0

    AFC West Standings
    Raiders 8-0
    Chargers 5-3

    14th in passing offense
    6th in rushing offense
    1st in total defense
    2nd in passing defense
    1st in rushing defense
    9th in team sacks (19)
    5th in team interceptions (11)

    Individual Statistics of Note
QB Rockford Odom: QBR 102.7, 65% completion, 1907 yards, 16 TDs, 6 INTs
HB Kian Minor: 129 carries, 643 yards, 5 TDs, 0 fumbles
WR Marcus Royal: 45 catches, 607 yards, 4 TDs
TE Eric Legaux: 29 catches, 241 yards, 3 TDs
WR Benjamin Mims: 25 catches, 468 yards, 4 TDs

Projected Pro Bowlers: QB Rockford Odom, WR Marcus Royal, TE Eric Legaux, LT Jared Veldheer, OLB Paul Kruger, CB Darrelle Revis, FS Aerion Hill

Analysis: Finally, this defense has come together. They are the #1 overall unit, and making plays all over the field. My acquisition of Darrelle Revis is finally paying off, as he’s early favorite for DPOTY. It’ll be very interesting to see if we can keep it up. Staying healthy will be immensely important.

    Third Quarter Review
    Back to Reality

    Week 10: Raiders 27 Chargers 0
The NFL’s best defense lived up to that title Sunday, completely shutting down the Chargers and picking of QB Donald Breer 4 times (Revis, Norwood, and Green had two). Additionally, Paul Kruger, Lamarr Houston, and Davion Smith each added a sack as San Diego was held to just 177 total yards. While Odom didn’t have his best game (205-1-1), the defense and running game more than picked him up. Kian Minor ran for 145 yards and a score, while Sam Campbell added 55 yards of his own.

    Week 11: Raiders 36 Jaguars 23
The streak continues! The defense held Jacksonville to 291 total yards and forced two turnovers, while Kian Minor (130-1) went off. Davion Smith, Aaron Barnes, and Miles Burris had sacks for the top ranked defense unitl, while Marquise Duncan intercepted Jags QB Ladarris Vaughn twice. Odom was efficient, but didn’t put up huge numbers (118-1-0). No surprise that WR Marcus Royal had the lone touchdown catch. The Raiders will now put their streak to the test against the 2nd best team in the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons (8-2).

    Week 12: Falcons 47 Raiders 27
The streak ends as Rockford Odom is pulled from the game early due to a minor injury. Jeremiah Saunders (205-2-1-) and Alfred Morris (133-2-1) paced the Atlanta win, while Marcus Royal managed to grab 2 touchdown catches for the Raiders. Miles Burris, Kenneth Crenshaw, Paul Kruger, Lamarr Houston, and Deonte Burns all had a sack for Oakland, while Quinton carter had the lone interception. Atlanta CB Iran Lee (former Raider target in the first draft) added a punt return for a TD.

    Week 13: Chargers 38 Raiders 31
Oakland drops its second game in a row, this time by way of the defense. Donald Breer atoned for his previous performance against the Raiders (310 yards and 4 touchdowns), but threw another 3 interceptions. Rockford Odom was steady, adding 209 yards and 2 TDs in the loss, while Kian Minor eclipsed the 100 yard mark again this season (106-1). Marcus Royal led Oakland receivers with 8 catches, while rookie HB Sam Campbell added 5 catches for 33 yards and a score. While the defense failed to register a sack, Darrelle Revis had 2 interceptions and Tyvon Branch added another in the loss. The Raiders once again conceded a special teams touchdown, this time by way of Carlo Stead on a kickoff return.

    Resignings
CB Joe Bautista: Contract accepted, 2/$1.7 million

    Injuries
    N/A

    Draft Stories
-After a brilliant start to his season, Ohio State ROLB John Hurst came up one sack short of the all time record
-A 344-yard, three-touchdown performance for Notre Dame QB Terry Carter has left scouts very impressed.
-The timing could not have been worse for Alabama HB Steven Grant, who broke his right ankle this week, ending his season
-A monster hit on Arkansas WR Sean Hill has put him on the shelf for the rest of the season with broken ribs

    Season 7

    Fourth Quarter Review
    Solidifying the #1 Seed

    Week 14: Raiders 49 Dolphins 0
This defense continues to come up huge, holding Miami to just 177 yards of total offense. The big news of the day, however, is the injury to star MLB Marquise Duncan, who will be sidelined for 7 weeks. An incredibly balanced offensive attack (245 pass 244 run) helped keep the defense off the field, as TE Eric Legaux added 3 TD receptions. Kian Minor dashed for 142 yards and a score, while Sam Campbell added 96 yards and a score. NT DeAndre Crawford (2), Paul Kruger (1), and Davion Smith (1) added sacks for the Oakland defense.

    Week 15: Panthers 31 Raiders 20
Rockford Odom (243 yards 2 TD) threw two costly interceptions, as the Panthers had the Raiders just their third loss of the season. Panthers HB Kamani Webster, the 11th overall pick, had 111 yards and a score on the day. Darrelle Revis added his 9th interception of the year, as he continues to be the guy to beat for DPOTY. Even with the loss, the Raiders have clinched the #1 seed in the AFC.

    Week 16: Raiders 31 Ravens 14
Rockford Odom was superb (286-2-0), as was the continued defensive effort put forth by the Raiders. Chance Green (INT) and Miles Burris (1 sack) led the defense, while Odom propelled the offense. Marcus Royal added 4 runs (yes, runs) for 67 yards and a score, as well as 4 catches for 33 yards. Benjamin Mims caught the other TD pass. The news isn’t all good, however, as the Raiders lose another MLB, Kenneth Crenshaw, to injury (5 weeks). They are now without either starting MLB.

    Week 17: Raiders 38 Chiefs 14
The running game came through in a huge one in this game, as I thought it best to keep starters in and keep the hot streak going. Kion Minor hit 270 yards on the ground with three scores, while Odom threw for just 106 yards and a score. Davion Smith and Aerion Hill added sacks, while Chance Green and Darrelle Revis added interceptions. This was Revis’ 10th interception of the year, as he’s in great shape to be named defensive player of the year. The Raiders have signed former 1st round pick of the Packers AJ Hawk, in hopes of patching up a depleted MLB corps. Playoffs here we come!

Another balanced effort offensively (168 pass 145 rush) propelled the Raiders to a playoff win Saturday afternoon, as Rockford Odom’s efficient game management (161-2-0) enabled the Raiders’ #1 ranked defense to do their thing. Newly acquired AJ Hawk led the defense with 12 tackles, while Paul Kruger got to the quarterback for a sack. FS Aerion Hill added 4 tackles and an interception. Marcus Royal led all receivers with 8 catches for 97 yards and a score, while Benjamin Mims added the second touchdown. Odom (33), Minor (64), Campbell (31) and Humphrey (9) all contributed in the running game, while CB Joe Bautista returned a punt for a touchdown. The Raiders will now host the Cincinnati Bengals (10-6) for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

In the end, the defensive injuries were just too much to overcome. Andy Dalton (216-3-0) outshined Odom (184-0-1), and Kian Minor (40-2) and Sam Campbell (110-0) combined for three fumbles. Despite Marcus Royal’s best effort, catching 11 balls for 135 yards, the turnovers and injuries were just too much for the Raiders to overcome.
