I thought it would be cool to have a place to post any interesting hoop related media for others to enjoy. Here's an article I found interesting by my favorite basketball writer, Zach Lowe of Grantland. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9656369/the-case-40-minute-nba-game
A storyline I'll be following closely the next 12 months.... http://www.blogabull.com/2013/9/10/4714952/chicago-bulls-luol-deng-contract-free-agecy-2014
In couch potato news. NBA League Pass Broadband is adding a few new features including multiple games at once and being able to select which feed you want to watch. About time!
http://basketball.realgm.com/wireta...-Upset-With-Front-Office-If-Deng-Leaves-Bulls I love Thibs, but if Deng wants to get paid on his next contract like he is now (which is between $13-14 million annually) then the Bulls would be smart to let him go find out that no other team is gonna pay him that kind of coin. If he hits the open market I'm confident his asking price will come down when he discovers that he likely won't get more than $8-9 million a year from anyone else.
Especially in an era where GMs are looking for guys like Chandler Parsons and Danny Green who are very athletic and can be molded into decent defenders and knock down jump shooters for cheap. Edit: you can even add Jimmy Butler to that list of guys like Green and Parsons
He may not be worth it, but there is always some dumb ass team willing to overpay for a player that they think will turn the team around.
That's always possible. I fully support the Bulls letting him see if that kind of money is out there for him before just ponying up themselves. No sense bidding against yourself.
http://basketball.realgm.com/article/229958/Previewing-The-2014-NBA-Free-Agent-Class Here is why I don't get why teams are clearing cap room, 90% of the good players who are on this list are RFA's or have player options that they may take. The best UFA this offseason right now - Luol Deng. Rejoice teams with cap room!
Not sure, but teams have been clearing space for this year (like your Lakers) and I don't get the hubbub about it. Most of the guys that people talk about as FA targets (guys like George, Monroe, Cousins) are restricted and won't be going anywhere in all likelihood.
It won't be as funny as it would have been a month ago.....Laker fans are starting to realize they are truly fucked after this season when they'll have cap room and nobody worth a damn to spend it on.
No offense to Greg Monroe, but Laker fans are not gonna get excited about a Pistons cast off as the savior of the franchise. That, and I think Kobe might murder him by mid-season if he comes here in the Mamba's twilight.
