It's no secret that Cleveland has not quite lived up to its expectations since coming back into the NFL in the late 90's. In the hopes of turning the ship around ownership has brought in Coach Matt Alex. Alex played in the mid 90's for The University of Miami as a defensive end, after a few unsucessful years in the NFL he worked under Butch Davis at North Carolina as a coaching assistant and was key in identifying and recruiting much of the NFL talent that came through UNC during Davis' tenure. Now he's got the chance of a lifetime to Coach an NFL franchise (much to the dismay of Cleveland fans and media). He has a tough road ahead of him, he's shown he can identify talent, but can he develop it? Time will tell.

    House Rules
    1. Only one player trade allowed per year (offseason and in season)
    2. May never possess more than 2 1st round picks
    3. No use of any scouting guides
    4. No scouting beyond a letter grade
    5. No trading of players for salary cap purposes. Players will be cut instead.
    6. No poaching of players off FA during the preseason/season. If a player is there that probably shouldn’t be, I will leave him to be signed by a CPU team.
    7. 1 Season simmed followed by 1 season played
    8. No purchase of the scouting package

Initial Team Analysis (Pre-Season 75 man Roster)

    Offense: Power Run
    Defense : Attacking 3-4

QB (Field General) : Colt McCoy (75) is going to get the initial nod over Brandon Weeden (75) , we like Colt's mobility and won't put much pressure on him to make plays with his arm. Hand the ball off and let the running game do what it does.

HB (Power Back): Trent Richardson (85) will be the focal point of the offense, hopefully he stays healthy because there isnt much behind him. Chris Ogbonnya (75) and Montario Hardesty (70) , not too much confidence in that pair, we may bring in a free agent to compete with them during pre-season.

FB (Blocking): Owen Marcic (76) has the job, its his to lose, but we also have rookie Brad Smelly (69) out of Alabama right behind him.

WR1/WR2 ( Red Zone): 9 wideouts will be brought into the preseason, but only expect 5 to make it out. Greg Little (82) and Josh Cribbs (76) are the two main guys right now. Massaquoi (74) , Mitchell (72) and Benjamin (65) are the favorites to make the final roster.

TE (Receiver): Vet Ben Watson (80) has firm control of the tight end spot heading into preseason. Expect to see Stanford Grads Evan Moore (74) and Alex Smith (71) see some action as well.

Tackles ( Big Mauler): Joe Thomas (97) will protect McCoy's blind side and Rookie Mitchell Swartz(73) will get the nod at Right tackle.

Guards ( Big Mauler): Jason Pinkston (71) and Shawn Lauvao (73) will have the guard positions, but an upgrade is sorely needed on both sides.

C( Big Mauler): Alex Mack (87) has firm control of the center position. We will probably bring one more center into the season.

DE ( 3-4 Run Stopper): Brian Sanford (69) and Frostee Rucker (80) will be the starting Defensive Ends, neither is a 3-4 end, but they will be pressed into service.

DT ( Nose Tackle) : Ahtyba Rubin (91) was the surprise of camp and has shown himself to be a very good nose tackle. Young Phil Taylor (82) will be the man behind him.

OLB ( 3-4 Pass Rusher): Veterans Scott Fujita (76) and Chris Gocong (79) will be the outside linebackers.
MLB ( Prototype) : D'Qwell Jackson (83) is the man in the middle, Benjamin Jacobs (65) is the only other MLB on the roster, expect to see 1 or 2 more brought in.
CB ( Man to Man ) : Joe Haden (91) and Sheldon Brown (82) will be the starting corners, with Demetri Patterson (73) seeing most of the nickel action .
FS ( Balanced) : Eric Hagg (67) and Ray Ventrone (65) are both underwhelming at this spot.
SS ( Balanced) : TJ Ward (79) is young but full of potential, Usama Young (74) is a quality back up.

K-P ( Accurate) Phil Dwason (88) is the kicker and Reggie Hodges (76) is the punter.

KR/PR: Electric return man Josh Cribbs will handle punts and kicks. Travis Benjamin will also handle kicks.

Offensive Overview - There is some potential, but we need to upgrade the line, find a long term solution at QB.

Defensive overview - I fear we will struggle for quite some time. the transition from 43 to 34 is never an easy one and without an offseason to prepare it will be even tougher.

    Preseaon Schedule

    W 45-38 @ Lions
    L 42-28 @ Packers
    L 13-6 vs Eagles
    L 42-17 vs Bears

As you can see our defense struggled this preseason to keep teams out of the endzone

    Pre-Season FA Additions

HB - Caddilac Williams (71), while he has never had a season like he did his rookie year, we feel he can do well for us in spot action.

MLB - Cody Glenn (64) - he fits our scheme and is one of the fastest lb's available. He is raw but we are hoping his athleticism makes up for it.

MLB Lofa Tatapu (76) - not quite the fit we hope for, but he is talented and a good locker room guy.

    Quarter 1 Review Breakdown -

Week 1 vs Eagles (Loss) 65-14

Holy shit. Talk about a bad way to start off your coaching career. Alex looked outclassed in every phase of coaching by vet Andy Reid in this one. 45 points by the Eagles in the first half alone. Philly finished the day with 548 pass yards, 126 rush yards and no turnovers. Mike Vick threw for what has to be a career high 7 touchdowns. Meanwhile Cleveland had to do exactly what it didn't want to do and throw the ball. McCoy went for 242 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. While getting nothing from the running game as Richardson only had 5 carries for 13 yards. Total embarassment.

    Week 2 @ Bengals (Loss) 31-17

This was a more respectable loss (oh god, already playing the morale victory game) . 14 4th quarter points by the Bengals allowed them to pull away and get the victory. Again our defense got pounded, but this time it was a bit more balanced as the Bengals had 187 on the ground and 211 in the air. Colt went 22-30 for 263 yards and 1 TD, while Richardson got a little traction on the ground with 17 carries 99 yards and a TD. The Bengals Bernard Scott was unstoppable as he had 5 carries 106 yards and 3 touchdowns. Outscoring the entire Brown offense on his own.

Week 3 vs Bills (Loss) 62-28

Oh not again! Another 60 plus point outing by the Browns horrid defense. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 5 TDS! Ryan Fitzpatrick! On the ground Fred Jackson was a workhorse for the bills with 98 yards and 2 TDs on 28 carries. Richardson showed flashes of brilliance though with 9 carries for 83 yards and 2 TDS, but playing from behind didnt afford the browns much chance to hand the ball off to him. Stevie Johnson was player of the game for Buffalo as he brought in 14 catches 189 yards and 3 TDs

Week 4 @ Ravens on NFL Network Thursday Night (Loss) 32-20

We nearly did it, the first win of the Alex era was in the bag, but the defense once again lets us down and gives up 19 4th quarter points to Joe Flacco and the Ravens and we continue the Cleveland tradition of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. Flacco finished the night with 222 yards and 2 TDs, while McCoy had 243 yards 2 TDs and a pick. Meanwhile on the ground Ray Rice and Maurice Morris combined for 27 carries 124 yards and a TD. Richardson had 14 carries for 78 yards.

    1st quarter thoughts:

I'm so shame faced right now. 2 of our biggest losses at home, we gave up 60 points TWICE! at home. On the road we lost twice to divisional foes and now have more questions than before we started. I'm really worried about keeping my job at this point. We need to get a victory soon.

    Team Statisitical Leaders:

Passing - Colt McCoy 1000 yards, 7 TDs, 5 INTS
    Rushing - Trent Richardson 45 carries, 273 yards, 6.1 YPC, 3 TDs
Receiving - Greg Little 19 Catches 216 yards 1 TD
    Tackles - Joe Haden 21
    Sacks - 3 tied with 1 sack
    INTs - 0

Surprise Player - WR Mohamed Massaquoi 8 catches 224 yards and 4 TDs. He has shown the ability to make big plays, therefore we are moving him up 1 position on the depth chart to the #3 WR over Travis Benjamin.

    Injuries
D'Qwell Jackson 5 weeks Broken Hand

    Re-Signings

We decided to let Kicker Phil Dawson (88) hit FA, he wanted near 3 million dollars plus a signing bonus, and that wasnt something we were willing to commit to a 37 year old kicker.

    Divison Standings

    Bengals 4-0
    Steelers 2-1
    Ravens 2-2
    Browns 0-4

    Quarter 2 Review/Breakdown

    Week 5 @ Giants (Loss) 72-24

:Sigh: same old story, our defense can't keep anybody out of the endzone. Ahamad Bradshaw has 5 TDs total on the day (3 rushing 2 receiving), Eli tacks on 4 through the air. Trent is held to 43 yards on 17 carries while McCoy throws for 3 meaningless touchdowns in the 2nd half. We gave up 48 2nd half points.

Week 6 vs Bengals (Loss) 49-35

Again , the defense remains the issue. Dalton lit us up for 4 TDs, BJGE runs for 143 yards and a TD and AJ Green pulls in 2 TDs. Trent is no help as he only manages 32 yards on the day.

    Week 7 @ Colts (WIN!) 37-26

Hell yes! we finally got a victory. Colt McCoy was on fire , with 4 TDs and 1 INT on the day on only 15 pass attempts. Add in 3 FGs from Phil Dawson and that was enough to seal the victory on the road against Andrew Luck and the Colts. Greg Little had 6 catches 122 yards and 2 TDs.

Week 8 vs Chargers (WIN) 38-21

2 in a row! Again Colt steps up big time with 4 TDs and 247 yards with 2 INTs he also added a rushing TD. The defense did a good job of limiting the San Diego rushing attack to only 64 yards from Ryan Matthews. Trent went down early and only had 6 carries, Cadillac provided 59 yards but no TDs in his absence. Good news is Trent will be available next week.

    2nd quarter thoughts:

Well it seemed like it was going to be the same as the 1st quarter with all losses, but we end this quarter on a high with 2 wins. Hopefully we can keep that up. Colt is playing his ass off right now. We need to see more from Trent though, he is the long term future of the team .

    Team Statistical Leaders

Passing - Colt McCoy 2119 Yards 21 TDs 12 INTs
    Rushing - Trent Richardson 104 carries 424 yards 4.1 YPC 4 TDs
Receiving - Greg Little 43 Rec 590 yards 4 TDs
    Tackles - Lofa Tatapu 46
    Sacks - Frostee Rucker 2
    INTs - Usama Young 2

Surprise Player - Colt McCoy two 4 TD games has the team on a high. We were contemplating benching him but right now he is showing his worth . Let's see if he can keep it up.

    Injuries -

D'Qwell Jackson Broken Hand 1 Week
RT Mitchell Swartz 26 Weeks Foot Stress fracture (PLACED ON IR)

    Quarter 3 Review/Breakdown

Week 9 vs Ravens (WIN) 33-16

3 in a row! 27 unanswered points in the 2nd half gives us our 3rd win of the season against divisional foe Baltimore. Our defense confused Flacco all day holding him to 91 yards and 1 INT on the day. Ray Rice ran all over us for 126 yards and 1 TD on 18 carries but we managed to keep him out of the endzone a few times. Trent bounced back with 105 yards and 1 TD on 12 carries, his inconsistency is a bit worrying but we won and will try to deal with it. Colt has another multi TD performance with 2 TD strikes for 225 yards.

    Week 10 BYE

    Week 11 @ Cowboys (WIN) 44-35

4 in a row and were starting to look something like a football team. Coach Alex can actually leave his house without armed guards. Colt McCoy and Tony Romo dueled it out in this one. McCoy had 5 Tds 343 yards only only 18 completions, while Romo had 4 Tds 469 yards and 1 INT on 24 completions. Trent again had a solid showing on the ground going for 104 yards and 1 TD on 18 carries. While the Cleveland D did a good job of limiting Dallas' rushing attack. The Cleveland HBs took control of the game and caught all 5 of Colt's TD passes today in an odd turn of events. Richardson had 1, Ogbonnaya had 2 and Caddie had 1, so did the FB.

Week 12 vs Steelers (Win) 28-21

5 in a row! We manage to sneak out the victory against the 6-4 Steelers. Big Ben had 3 TDs and 303 yards, but also 2 INTs which seemed to be the difference in the game. McCoy managed the game well with 246 yards, 1 Td and 1 INT. On the ground Cadillac lead the way with 106 yards and 1 TD on 10 carries plus 1 reception TD , while Trent had 17 carries for 70 yards and 1 TD.

    3rd Quarter Thoughts:

Undefeated in the 3rd quarter and extended our win streak to 5. We're feeling really good right now, but im preaching to the team that we still haven't accomplished anything and the bottom could drop out at any time. They need to keep playing hard and maybe we could push for a wild card spot. Right now we are last in the division though.

    Divison Standings:
    Bengals 7-4
    Ravens 6-5
    Steelers 6-5
    Browns 5-6

    Team Statistical Leaders:

Passing - Colt McCoy 2933 yards 29 TDs 13 INTs
Rushing - Trent Richardson 152 carries 703 yards 7 TDs
Receiving - Greg Little 59 Rec 791 Yards 4 TDS
    Tackles - Lofa Tatupu 63
    Sacks - 2 tied at 2
    Ints - 2 Tied at 2

    Injuries:

RT Mitchell Schwartz Foot Stress Fracture (IR)

    Re-signings

We couldnt reach a deal with WR Josh Cribbs, we're gonna miss his return game but we feel we can replace it.

    Quarter 4 Review/Breakdown

    Week 13 @ Oakland (Loss) 33-25

The streak is over, but we showed fight. Shut out the 1st three quarters we tried to fight back and scored 19 in the final quarter. We couldn't over come Colt's three INTs though and that proved to be the difference in the game. Trent was the lone bright spot with 16 carries, 111 yards and 1 TD on the day .

Week 14 vs Chiefs (Loss) 41-31

Our D gave up 17 points in the 4th and that was what cost us the game. We probably shouldn't have been in it anyway as KC beat us in nearly every statistical way. Matt Cassell went for 5 TDs and a pick, while Colt kept us in it with 4 TDs and 1 INT. Trent was stuffed and held to only 53 yards, I feel like if we could have gotten a little more out of him we may have won.

Week 15 vs Redskins (Win) 34-31

We get the close victory over the Redskins at home. Both teams did a good job of limiting the others rushing attacks though Tim Hightower did find the endzone for Washington once. RG3 and Colt both threw 2 INTs but Colt edged out RG3 in TDs 3-2 and that proved to be the difference . Solid win late in the year that keeps us in the hunt for the division as every other team is now 7-7 and we are 6-8.

Week 16 vs Broncos (Loss) 34-23

The Broncos were 13-1 headed into this match up and we didnt really stand a chance , but we hung in there with them. Peyton was Peyton with 343 yards and 3 TDs with no INTs on the day. Colt tried his best to keep up with 359 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT, but a poor performance from Trent really let us down . 14 carries for 23 yards is unacceptable and may have cost us our season. This loss really puts us out of the hunt for a possible playoff spot.

    Week 17 @ Steelers (Loss) 31-14

With nothing really left to play for Cleveland didnt come out with all that much energy. Trent was held to 43 yards on the day, while Colt threw 1 Td and 1 INT . A really let down to end the season.

    4th Quarter Thoughts:

1-4 to end the season was not what we hoped for, but we lost better than we lost at the start of the year, and thats something that gives me a little comfort.

    Division Standings

    End of Season Meeting
Coach Alex is given an extension by the Browns, who would have called that at the start of the season?

This was a roller coaster of a season for Cleveland and first year coach Matt Alex. Starting the year off 0-6 and the finishing 6-10 was kind of crazy and for awhile we though just maybe we could pull it out, but it wasn't meant to be. Things are looking up in Cleveland though as the team heads into the offseason with about 40 mil worth of Cap space and a top 10 draft pick, Coach Alex has a chance to put his eye for talent to the test and see if he cant make some big changes to this squad.

The surprise of the year had to be Colt McCoy if you would have told me he would finish the year with 41 TDs and 3rd place in AFC OPOY voting I would have called you crazy. Expect us to bring in another QB over the off-season but maybe we hesistate to go QB first round in the draft or to spend big money now that we see what Colt can do . Trent had a decent season for a rookie, but he disappeared at times , we can't have that if we hope to win the division next season . Greg Little showed his worth with 88 receptions 1210 yards and 8 TDs . Defensively we have a chance to really shore it up with all our money and turn it into a serviceable unit instead of the #32 ranked unit it was this year. With an improved defense and a similar offense we should be able to add a few more W's and sneak into the playoffs.

The Sun is rising in Cleveland.

    Free Agency:
Free Agency opened up with Cleveland having 38 Million Dollars in Cap space. Coach Alex has full discretion to go after nearly anyone and everyone he wants.

    Targets:

    WR Mike Williams 82
    TE Dennis Pitta 76
    RG Geoff Schwartz 81
    LG Chris Kemoeatu 77
    RT Andre Smith 80
    DT Ron Brace 79
    RE Clifton Geathers 74
    LE Kedric Golston 81 OVR
    MLB Tavares Gooden 73
    CB Antoine Cason 83
    K David Buehler 73 OVR
    p Dan Sepulbved 83 OVR

    Signings

CB Antoine Cason 82 - Cason will give us a nice #2 option at the CB spot, the former Thorpe winner should pair nicely with Hayden and help to bolster our horrid pass defense. (4 Years 18 Million)

WR Mike Williams 82 - Mike provides us with a nice target for whomever the QB is, at about 3 million a year we cant wait to get him on the field. (4 years 12 Million)

TE Dennis Pitta 76 - We feel like Pitta is under rated. We like what he can do and hopefully he can give us more production from the position. (3 years 4.5 Million)

MLB Tavares Gooden 73 - Gooden will be a good special teams guy and we feel comfortable with him stepping in if there is an injury or if we cant bring in another MLB in the draft. (2 years 1.5 Million)

RE Clifton Geathers 73 - Honestly we don't know much about Geathers, but we were able to get him for cheap and we have a need. (1 year 750k)

LG Chris Kemoeatu 77- We like Kemoeatu, he is an upgrade and a stop gap until we can get someone in here through the draft within the next few years. (3 years 3.45 Million)

RG Geoff Schwartz 81 - See Kemoeatu

RT Andre Smith 80 - We were able to nab Smith from Cincinatti our division foe which is always a plus. We feel like he has some untapped potentail, but we will see, we didnt risk much. (4 years 6 Million)

K David Buehler 77 - he was the best combo of quality and price.

P Dan Sepulveda 83 - Sepulveda is an accurate Punter (4 Years 3.6 Million)

    2013 NFL DRAFT Preview
With the 9th pick in the draft we have the opportunity to add a playmaker . Going into this I feel like defense will be a strong focus, but I do have a few offensive guy I have my eye on. So lets see how it plays out.

    Picks
    Round 1 Pick 9
    Round 2 Pick 41
    Round 3 Pick 73
    round 4 Pick 105
    Round 5 Pick 137
    Round 6 Pick 169
    Round 7 Pick 201

    Predraft Targets :

LE Devin Patterson Round 1 Pick 18 - He might be a slight reach at #9, but a 6'6 310 he provides us
with great size at the end spot he has good awareness , tackling and hit power. Concerns about injury
    and stamina though

ROLB TJ Johnson Round 1 Pick 15 - Probably the best Pass rushing LB in the draft, Excellent pursuit, and consistently
shows the ability to get off his blocks and get to the QB

CB Demetric Dawson Round 1 Pick 23 - He seems to have all the physical tools needed to be an excellent man corner,
some concerns about his ability to help in the run game though.

WR Silas Olaniyan Round 1 Pick 7 - Physically he is a monster at 6'5 239 and just the red zone threat we are looking
for, his hands could be a little better, but in he repeatedly showed the ability to make the big catches and
catches in traffic when he was in Morgantown.

LOLB Griffin Ward Round 2 Pick 3- Another good pass rushing OLB , we dont expect to get him with our 2nd round pick as he is
projected to go early in the 2nd, but maybe we think about trading back up to get him, especially if we
arent able to get TJ Johnson.

ROLB Luke Smith Round 6 Pick 4 Smith is raw but showed the abilty to get to the QB while at Troy. His level
of competition has me a bit worried though, but in the 6th round he shows value.

MLB Shawn Ford Round 4 Pick 27 - Ford has the speed and agility we look for in a MLB. He should be a good side line
to sideline defender and solid tackler.

MLB Kendle Maeweather 2 Pick 31 - Maeweather looks to be by FAR the best linebacker in the draft , his speed and
tackling and hit power all grade out at an A.

HB Joseph Shepard Round 7 Pick 3- Shepard has a ton of potential it seems like, with 88 speed and A Trucking and Elusivenss
were not sure why he grades out to the 7th, but we plan on taking him if possible

LE Keshawn Byrd Round 2 Pick 17 - Don't expect him to be there when we pick, but he is a solid runstopper on the edge, STRONG
knows how to use that strength to get off blocks and lay big hits.

RE Fernando Douglas Round 3 Pick 12 - Douglas is strong, can get off his blocks with his strength and make tackles.
Exactly what we need him to do.

CB AJ Jones Round 3 Pick 24 - Seems to be a good man corner

CB Demarius Fender Round 3 Pick 26 - Solid man and press skills, but something seems lacking

CB Rayshon Tucker Round 4 Pick 11 - Good balanced CB, he can do a little bit of everything

CB Lincoln Davis Round 7 Pick 12 - Strong awareness and man skills

    2013 NFL DRAFT WAR ROOM
Welcome to the 2013 NFL Draft WAR ROOM, here is a peek behind the curtain and our thought process as we make our picks.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 1 Pick 9
Possible Choices: LE Devin Patterson, ROLB TJ Johnson, WR Silas Olaniyan
Silas was chosen at pick 8 by the Bucs, he seemed like a great Wideout, but our real target right here is TJ Johnson. No doubt about it, we feel he has the ability to be a pro bowl caliber pass rusher for us.
The Pick : ROLB TJ Johnson 6'4 244 out of Boston College
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 2 Pick 41
Possible Chocies: MLB Kendle Maeweather , RE Fernando Douglas , CB Ty Golden
We have Kendle graded out as a first round type talent, we thought for sure he would be gone. We're gonna take him. Pairing him with his team mate TJ Johnson should help both guys out getting acclimated to NFL life.
The Pick: MLB Kendle Maeweather 6'1 240 out of Boston College
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 3 Pick 73
Possible Choices: CB Demarius Fender, CB Rashon Tucker, RE Kyle Dorsey
We could really use another CB at this spot, both Tucker and Fender would add solid depth.
The Pick : Traded to Washington for their 2014 2nd Round Pick
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 4 Pick 105
Possible Choices : CB Demarius Fender
Fender is really the only guy we see value in right here.
The Pick : CB Demarius Fender 5'11 197 out of Tulsa
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 5 Pick 137
Possible Choices : HB Joseph Shepard . MLB Marc Brown, RE Chase Classan
We really need a RE here, but we dont want to miss out on Shepard who we feel can be a good back up.
The Pick : Joseph Shepard 5'11 227 out of Ohio
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 6 Pick 169
Possible Choices: RE Chase Classan, Trade Down, CB Lincoln Davis
Gotta pull the trigger on Chase here. Sorely need an end.
The Pick : RE Chase Classan 6'6 314 out of Valaparaiso
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Round 7 Pick 201
Possible Choices: Not much left at this point, gotta look around. Miles Scott has B MCV, that will have to do.
The Pick CB Miles 5'11 190 Scott out of Stony Brook
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That Concludes the Browns Draft, Analysis and rankings coming soon.

    Draft Anaysis and Grading:

Round 1 - ROLB TJ Johnson - 76 Overall - Superstar Development - 3-4 pass rusher- We thought for sure Johnson would be rated a little higher, but he is as advertised and can get to the passer, very happy with this pick.

Round 2 - MLB Kendle Maeweather - 83 Overall - Superstar Development- Balanced - Maeweather will be the day 1 starter at MLB , great pick up here, 90 speed, 90 tackle, 92 hit power. BEAST

Round 4 - CB Demarius Fender - 70 Overall - Normal Development - Man to Man - A bit of a let down here, but we might push him into the nickel spot.

Round 5 - HB Joseph Shepard - 70 Overall - Normal Development - One Cut - Another let down, but with some time to develop we will like him . Good combo of speed and trucking though at 88 and 92 respectively.

Round 6 - RE Chase Classan 70 Overall - Normal Development - 3-4 run stopper - A serviceable end, he will see action simply because we dont have the talent at this position for him to sit.

Round 7 - CB Miles Scott - 65 Overall - Normal Development - Man to Man - Strong man to man skills and decent hands, he may make the team, he may not.

Final Grade: I'd give myself a B , still left myself with some big needs at DE and some guys I reached on didnt pan out as I hoped, but time will tell, and I did manage to grab two superstar Linebackers. If anyone is reading I'd love to hear your grades.

QB (Field General) : Colt McCoy (77) showed he could get the job done last year during the sim season. I'll keep rolling with him, simply because we have no better choice. Weeden (74) is there but were not to enamoured with him. Seneca Wallace (70) brings up the rear.

HB (Power Back): Trent Richardson (86) will remain the focal point of the offense, we need him to be more consistent this year though. Chris Ogbonnya (74) and Montario Hardesty (70) and Rookie Joseph Shepard (70) are the other backs . Shepard will get much of the carries when Richardson is resting.

FB (Blocking): Owen Marcic (75) has the job, its his to lose, but we also have Brad Smelly (69) out of Alabama right behind him.

WR1/WR2 ( Red Zone): Greg Little (83) and Mike Williams (82) are the starters, While Massaquoi (74) will be the slot guy. We're tempted to put Benjamin (66) back in the slot, but last year we learned our lesson as Massaquoi out performed him by a mile. Josh Gordon (72) will most likely be the 5th WR.

TE (Receiver): Dennis Pitta (76) is the main Tight end, but just as last year expect to see Smith (71) and Moore (74) on the field just as much with all the heavy sets we plan to run.

Tackles ( Big Mauler): Joe Thomas (95) will protect McCoy's blind side and Andre Smith (80) has the right side.

Guards ( Big Mauler): Chris Kemoeatu ( 77) and Geoff Schwartz (81) are the guards

C( Big Mauler): Alex Mack (88) has firm control of the center position. We will probably bring one more center into the season.

DE ( 3-4 Run Stopper): We're gonna give rookie Chase Classen (70) the nod at LE and see how it plays out , and Frostee Rucker (81) continues at the RE spot.

DT ( Nose Tackle) : Ahtyba Rubin (91) has shown himself to be a very good nose tackle. Young Phil Taylor (82) will be the man behind him.

OLB ( 3-4 Pass Rusher): Chris Gocong (81) moves from ROLB to LOLB to accomadate rookie TJ Johnson (76) on the Left side.

MLB ( Prototype) : Maeweather (83) and Jackson (83) will be the two men in the middle, with Tavares Gooden (73) filling in from time to time.

CB ( Man to Man ) : Joe Haden (91) and Antonie Cason (83) are the starters , with the Nickel Spot going to Demarius Fender (70) until he shows he cant handle it.

FS ( Balanced) : We brought in Will Allen (74) after the draft to take over the starting role from Eric Hagg (69)

SS ( Balanced) : TJ Ward (81) is young but full of potential and gets the nod again, Usama Young (74) is a quality back up.

K-P ( Accurate) David Buehler (77) is the Kicker and Dan Sepulveda (83) is the punter.

KR/PR: Travis Benjamin will return punts and kicks, with Buster Skrine as the other return man

Offensive Overview - We've added a few more weapons to the offense this year, and we like where its at for our 2nd year. We still need to upgrade the line and could use a big time talent at WR, but we think we can compete in the division.

Defensive overview - I feel tons better about the defense this year . Really excited to get these two new rookie LBs on the field together. We still need to upgrade our line though, that may be our weakness for this season, hopefully it doesn't hurt us too much .

Oh the linebackers! Those guys are going to crush for you, and with a NT already, you addressed the biggest points in the front 7 IMO. A strong pass-rushing LB, and a great MLB. I hope Chase Classen holds it down at LE.

    Browns have inconsistent pre-season.

Cleveland went 2-2 this preseason. They learned alot of things and have come to accept some harsh realities. It's going to be tough trying to stop the run with the defense as currently constructed. We missed a ton of tackles and alot of guys looked out of position throughout all 4 games. On the bright side we feel better about some of our rookies like Maeweather and Shepard. We also feel ok leaving Classen in the starting line up. If Brandon Weeden ever see's any meaningful playing time we will be in big trouble though. Let's take a closer look at the preseason.

    Week 1 @ Ravens (Loss) 71-43

Tried out a new slider set in this one. Needless to say it was a little TOO challenging for me and decided to make a change afterwards. On the bright side we had 400 plus pass yard , on the not so bright side the Ravens had nearly as many rush yards. We also lost rookie CB Demarius Fender for a few weeks to an arm injury. Kinda chalking this one up as a non factor because of the sliders.

Week 2 vs Jaguars (Win) 26-16

Felt much better and more competitive with the new sliders. A 13-3 4th quarter gave us the victory in this one. The 1st team looked a little rusty and didnt do much the first quarter. The 2nd stringers faired better obviously, Weeden threw 2 picks, but we liked what we saw from Joseph Sheppard, he only had 34 yards on 24 carries, but we felt like they were a good 34. Maeweather was a beast with 13 tackles and 7 TFL and WR Josh Gordon showed some nice big play ability. CB Buster Skrine also ran a kick back for us. A solid win.

Week 3 vs Chargers (Loss) 42-14

We held San Diego to 105 pass yards, but got man handled in the runing game as they finished with 339 yards and 4 TDs on the ground. Brandon Weeden was horrible for me, making really inaccurate throws on anything greater than 5 yards, he finisehd the day with 1 TD and 7 INT's, were contemplating bringing in a FA to be the new #2 and trying to shop Weeden or outright cut him. The only bright spot was Travis Benjamin and his 7 receptions for 106 yards a TD. He caught passes short , deep and across the middle, really showed his worth.

    Week 4 @ Lions (Win) 37-34

This was actually a pretty fun game. A real aeriel display was put on by Shaun Hill of Detroit and Brandon Weeden (whom felt his feet to the fire). Both guys threw right around 400 yards and multiple touchdowns. Maeweather continues to impress as he racked up 11 tackles, and Classen showed flashes and nabbed 2 sacks on the day. Fun victory to end the pre-season and maybe have a little pride headed into the season.

    Pre-Season Stats of Note:

Passing - Brandon Weeden 1283 yards 9 TDs 12 Ints on 53% passing
Rushing - Joseph Shepard 69 Carries 172 yards 2 TDs ( but we feel he played better than the stats show)
Receiving - Travis Benjamin - 21 Rec 364 yards 3 TDs - Josh Gordon 16 Rec 362 Yards 3 TDs - These two really pushed each other for the #4 spot, we are gonna roll with TB though.

    Tackles - Kendle Maeweather - 37 Tackles (10 TFL)
    Ints - 3 tied for 1
Sacks - Classan had 4 sacks which is promising. TJ Johnson also nabbed 2.

    Injuries -
RT Mitchell Schwartz 3 Weeks Broken Collarbone
TE Evan Moore 4 weeks Broken Collarbone
CB Darius Fender 2 Weeks Dislocated Elbow

Browns Outclassed by Texans On The Road

    Cleveland 10
    Texans 37

It was week 1, everybody had high hopes, after an active off-season and a decent draft The Browns were optimistic that the would be more competitive with the power teams of the conference. Things got out of hand quickly in Houston though. Arian Foster was a monster and by the end of the first quarter would have 100+ yards and a TD. The Browns really struggled to tackle him all day long. Foster finished the day with 31 carries for 214 yards and 1 TD. Ben Tate added 38 yards and 1 TD as well. Through the air Matt Schaub was efficient with 15-19 for 185 yards 1 TD and 1 Int. Most of that yardage came from Andre Johnson who brought in 78 yards and 1 TD.

Offensively Cleveland was inept to say the least. Trent Richardson could not get anything going on the ground as he finished with only 17 yards, he did gain 83 yards on dinks and dunks though. Colt was forced to pass alot as we had to try to come from behind. He finished 22-39 with 269 yards and 1 TD to TE Dennis Pitta, but he also added 2 Ints on poor throws. Defensively the lone bright spot for us was first round pick TJ Johnson. He had 2 sacks on the day, one where he beat the left tackle and blind sided Matt Schaub to force the fumble, but the Texans recovered the ball .

Next Week: Vs. 1-0 Bengals on Sunday Night Football

    Around the League:

*Justin Smith signs 5 year 41 Mil Extension with the 49ers
*Hakeem Knicks signs 5 year 39 mil deal with the Giants
*Stephen Jackson will finish his career as a Ram as he gets a 6 year 78 mil deal .
*Kurt Warner wins NFC OPOW Honors in week 1 of his comeback to the Cards.
*Josh Cribbs (former Brown) helps the Rams to a win over the Redskins with 2 KR TDs in the opening week. (Well shit!)
