    Recruiting News: Season 2

In week 1, South Carolina signed.

    Joe Riley :4stars: (#8 ATH/#69 Ovr)
    6'2" 188LBS
    Charleston, SC.
B+ Speed, B Agility, B- Hit Power, B Man Coverage B Zone Coverage

    Similar Player: Antonio Cromartie

Coach Blaza locked up in state prospect Joe Riley in week 1. Riley is an Athlete with adequate speed, very good size, and respectable coverage ability. Riley could use a redshirt to develop a bit and will likely be thrown into the Cornerback rotation eventually.

    Week 1 Duke signed:

    :2stars: T - Lorenzo Colvin
    6'3" 307LBS - Smith Creek, NC - Run Block

Pretty decent, should be in the 70's methinks...O-Line is at a premium this recruiting go around for Duke.

In week 9, South Carolina signed.

    Jonathan Tyson :5stars: (#3 ATH/#7 Ovr)
    6'4" 237 LBS
    Andrews , SC.
    B Speed, B+ THP, B- THA, B- Agi, C+ Elu, C+ Carrying, C+ Trucking, B Break Tackle.

    Similar Player: Tim Tebow

Coach Blaza was able to hold off the Trojans of Southern Cal to sign local prospect Jonathan Tyson in week 9. Tyson has become somewhat of a local legend in South Carolina, winning state championships in 3 sports his Junior year of high school. For the last 3 and a half years, Tyson has served as Point Guard, Starting Pitcher, and Quarterback for the Andrews Eagles.

"JT is just a leader", coach Blaza noted last night. "He comes from a heckuva program down there in Andrews. The kid was on the Varsity Basketball and Baseball teams as a 5'8 8th grader. Obviously he has grown into more of a man since then."

"JT's got a strong arm and is a tough hard runner. Although Garcia is still the man for us, we just may have to find out a way to get JT on the field next year. He's too good a player and too good a person not to."

Knigh, I like that Guard. Looks like he can develop into a mean little squatty fugger.

Yea, I think the tackle can too. We will have to see there ratings when they come in though. WR should come in and produce out of the 4th or 5th slot unless he comes in higher.

I got 2 more players soft to me, but not goin to say anything because in Coast2Coast I lost a top corner after he was soft for a few weeks.

In week 10, South Carolina signed.

Justin Gay (no homo) :3stars: (#30 WR/#332 Ovr)
    6'2" 180 LBS
    Dunwoody , GA.
    A Speed, B- Spec Catch, D+ Catching, C Catch in traff, C+ Route, B Agility, C+ Carrying

    Similar Player: Darrius Heyward-Bey

Week 10 saw the Gamecocks land a coveted player on their board in Justin Gay (no homo). Coach Blaza has been fighting tooth and nail with Duke Coach Jman over Gay for the entire season.

The seasaw started with Coach Blaza leading for Gay's services through week 7. After a wonderful visit to Durham in week 7 Jman had gained the number one spot with USC falling to 2nd. By week 8, Gay had soft committed to the Blue Devils.

But Carolina would not be denied, as Gay's visit to Columbia in Week 9 for USC's tough win over rival Tennessee was enough to sway his commitment to the Gamecocks.

"I just made my decision a little too early," quoted Gay earlier this morning. "Coach Jman got into my ear about how many hoes, uh excuse me, lady friends Greg Paulus had during his time on campus and I guess I just got a little excited." "Coach Blaza is my man, he is the type of coach you want to play for. I mean he's a pimp, he's good looking, and he keeps it real with the players."

Justin Gay comes to Columbia as one of the most electric recruits in the country. His forty time of 4.34 is good for 2nd place in the nation only behind Athlete Rhema Wesley's 4.32 (Texas Tech Commit). Playing against stiff competition in the suburbs of Atlanta, Gay has some of the most eye catching HS film of any prospect in the country proving to be a scoring threat from anywhere on the field. As a receiver, Gay is somewhat of a raw prospect and will most likely take some time to learn Coach Blaza's intricate offense.

Virginia adds to the recruiting class:

    Demarcus Hunt :3stars: QB (#29)
6'4'' 215 lbs from Oakton, Va
    D Speed
B- Throw Power, Throw Accuracy, Injury

    Drew Anderson :2stars: Guard (#78)
6'4'' 300 lbs from Washington, DC
    C+ Pass Block
B- Run Block, Impact Blocking, Strength, Run Block Footwork, Run Block Strength, Injury
    C+ Pass Block Footwork
    C- Pass Block Strength

    Coach Knight
"Looking to ink another QB in this class along with Hunt and I like Anderson's ability to run block and open up holes for our running game. I think this class will continue our push to compete year in year out for ACC and hopefully on the National stage as well."

    Corey Graham :2stars: QB (#84)
6'3'' 190lbs from Hillcrest Heights, MD
    B- Speed, Throw Power
    C- Throw Accuary, Agility
    C+ Break Tackle, Elusiveness

I think this kid is definitely a sleeper and will see some action next year behind Riko Smalls :)RS:Sophomore) barring leaving early Graham should progress well. Delimma is that I have a :RS:Fresh on bench as 3rd QB and seen some playin time this year Overall 78 but speed is 59. Graham will certainly come in higher speed wise but will see where he will fall overall.
