    Notable Stats:

    HB H. Jeffers 9att 34yds 1td, 2rec 44yds 1td
    DT C. Whitlock 7tck 3sck 3tfl 1ff
SS C. Davis fr for td

    Summary:

Texas Tech started off slow in a game that would eventually turn into a blowout. The first two drives resulted in a punt and an interception. Potts got hit while releasing the ball and threw up a gift to an SMU defender resulting in a FG for SMU. Coach DT31407 must've had some "pleasant" words with the O after that because they scorched the SMU defense for a total of 42 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Tech finished up with 510 total yards of offense, 441 of those passing. Defense had a strong showing, only allowing 332 yards of total offense against the pass-happy offense of June Jones. The front seven were in the backfield all day and QB Bo Levi Mitchell was helped off of the field at least 4 times throughout the game. Defense ended up with 7 sacks and 4 turnovers for the game. Overall, a very good first game for the Red Raiders this season. Wreck'em Tech!

    Injury Report:

    Interesting Stat:

Taylor Potts' completions were made to 9 different receivers and his 4 touchdowns were to a different receiver each time. No starting wideout scored a touchdown.

    Summary:

The Red Raiders made a statement on the road against a good TCU team. They elected to receive at the coin toss and proceeded to march down the field in 4 plays for a touchdown. It didn't end there. Taylor Potts made it look easy by throwing 5 touchdowns against a traditionally strong TCU defense. Tech dominated both sides of the ball the whole game and had TCU reeling from the get-go, racking up 42 points by halftime. The defense was very opportunistic, capitalizing with 2 interception returns for touchdowns. Colby Whitlock had another huge game tallying 3 sacks again this week against a much better offensive line. Overall, the team clicked on all cylinders this week and will have an opportunity to gain respect in the college football world against Ohio State next week.

    Injury Report:
    L. Leong Abdominal Strain Out 3-5 weeks

    Interesting Stat:

The defense has 16 sacks, 6 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, and 3 defensive tds in 2 games this year. Not a typical Tech defense by any means...

    KR B. Batch & L. Moore 7kr 272yds 2tds

    Summary:

The Red Raiders came up short in their trip to Columbus but there is nothing to be ashamed of. The Raiders were not expected to put up much of a fight against the #6 Buckeyes. They did. The Raiders got their offense going from the first kickoff, not punting until the 3rd quarter. Neither defense really had an answer for the respective offenses. The game was marred with mistackles for Tech while the Buckeyes had trouble covering Tech receivers. The turning point in the game was right before the half. Tech had just scored a touchdown on a Potts-Zouzalik connection with 18 seconds left. The Buckeyes were able to beat the coverage deep to score a touchdown with 1 second left. That started a series of 17 unanswered points for the Buckeyes. The Red Raiders didn't quit there though as they stormed back within 4 points as the 4th quarter was dwindling. The D was able to stop the Buckeyes and forced them to punt with around 3 minutes or so left in the game. Texas Tech got into a roll again and drove down to the 2 yard line with 25 seconds left in the game. Coach DT31407 tried to catch, what he assumed would be an aggressive goalline defense, off guard with a shotgun option play. One word... DENIED! That brought back the offense to the 6 yard line. After 2 failed pass plays, it was 4th and goal from the 6 yard line with 7 seconds left in the game. Potts was in shotgun and found receiver Jacoby Franks through a window in the defense and fired it in. Franks seemed to have caught the ball but an Ohio State defender knocked the ball out at the last millisecond. What a game... If there is one thing that coach DT31407 can take away from this game, it's that he could hang with any team in the nation. This game should build a solid foundation as they come closer to the start of conference play against Texas A&M in Week 5.

    Injury Report:
    L. Leong Abdominal Strain Out 2-4 weeks

    Interesting Stat:

After giving up only 7 yards rushing in the first two games combined, Texas Tech's defense gave up 276 yds on 37 carries against Ohio State.

    DT C. Perry 4tcks 2tfl 3scks

    Summary:

You could say that Texas Tech came into this game looking ahead to the showdown in College Station at #11 Texas A&M. The Red Raiders looked a little off on the offensive side of things today but the defense rose up to the challenge. They made Houston earn every yard and score in this game. After last week's defensive woes, Coach DT31407 challenged the D this week to shut down the explosive Cougar offense. They definitely took them out of their game, tallying up 11 sacks and limiting QB Case Keenum without a touchdown pass. Texas Tech definitely struggled to get anything going and made some key mistakes to keep Houston in the game. LaRon Moore muffed a punt return to set up Houston's first score. There was the last play of the first half where RB Harrison Jeffers was stuffed at the goalline as time expired. There was also a huge FG miss as time expired in regulation. The Red Raiders played with fire today and almost got burned. If it weren't for the stellar defensive performance, many would've wondered if Tech was just a "flash in the pan". On a positive note, Tech showed that they could win a tough game with lots of adversity. Big game next week as the Red Raiders visit the hated Aggies of Texas A&M.

    Injury Report:
    L. Leong Abdominal Strain Out 1-3 weeks

    Interesting Stat:

Freshman defensive end Jake Paul broke a school single game record by recording 6 sacks in this game. For all of the talk before the season started about the defensive line situation, they've accounted for 25 of the 30 team sacks this year. Paul will be a true force to be reckoned with as he matures.

    CB L. Moore 5tcks 1tfl 2ints 1td (kr)

    Summary:

This was a rough and tough rivalry game through and through. It was a tough game for the Texas Tech defense because they spent the majority of the game on the field. Texas A&M's offense did an excellent job of keeping Tech's offense off the field. Here's a dominating stat for you, TT - 38 plays ran, TA&M - 74 plays ran. Tech's strategy was to limit the big play and they did just that, the only problem is they couldn't stop the short stuff in key situations. Overall the offense played excellent when they were on field and maximized their opportunities to score. This year, Texas Tech earned the bragging rights in this rivalry.

    Injury Report:
    none

    Interesting Stat:

Texas Tech has only been held under 40 plays one other time. In 2008 against Nebraska, Tech only ran 33 plays and won that game as well in OT 34-31.

Texas Tech has officially clinched a spot in the Big 12 Championship game for the first time in the history of the school. The Red Raiders will face the winner of the Colorado/Nebraska rivalry game in Week 14. Texas Tech has already faced Colorado once this season losing 38-24 (sim). Will it be the perfect time for revenge? We'll see...
