REGARDING TRADES - PLEASE READ!!!!!!! IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!! This is direct from the rulebook. PLEASE consider this when making trades, folks!!!! If a team works a trade with another team, the team with the larger cap hit for bonuses takes a cap hit for the remainder of the season. An example is below: A blockbuster deal involving Colts QB Peyton Manning (overall 99, bonus total of $5 million) and Chargers HB Ladainian Tomlinson (overall 94, bonus total of $3,000,000). The Colts have the larger cap hit based on bonuses paid to the players involved ($5 million versus $3 million). Therefore, the Colts take a $2 million cap hit for the season because they traded away more bonus than they took in from the trade.
