Halfway through the season, people in Palo Alto were wondering what was wrong with QB Joey Robison. After his stellar 2016 campaign, he came out struggling in the first 7 games of the season, being careless with the football throwing 17 INTs. Fortunately that has not affected the Cardinal too much but Coach HotRod knew Robison would need to step it up if they were to repeat. This week Stanford took a trip to Corvallis, OR to take on the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers came out the gate quickly as George Cox scored in a 65 yd TD run. Stanford would answer back with a long drive capped off by a 4 yd TD run by Anthony Manson. The Beavers would have trouble getting going for the rest of the quarter as Ross Blount would be intercepted by MLB Jeff Austin one drive and overall just not converting 3rd downs. Stanford for add another 10 points in the quarter and Stanford was up 17-7. In the second quarter both defenses were strong with the Cardinal only allowing a field goal. Stanford was able to add a TD late in the half when Robison found Brian Peoples for a 5 yd TD. At the half it was 24-10 Cardinal. In the 3rd quarter Stanford would score once again after picking off Blount. Anthony Manson would take a handoff 48 yards for a TD and it was now 31-10 Stanford. The Beavers answered back with a TD of their own but by the end of the quarter the lead would be extended to 45-17 by way of a TD run by Bobby May and a 31 yd TD connection from Robison to Peoples. Starting the 4th quarter Oregon State would return the ensuing kickoff for a TD but Stanford would quickly answer on a 79 yd screen pass from Robison to Anthony Cooper. Stanford would finish off the scoring when Bobby May took a toss 65 yds for a TD. The Stanford defense would pick off Blount a couple more times ended with 5 INTs on the game and left with a 59-24 win. Joey Robison looks to be getting back on track after going 20-29 for 479 yds and 4 TD. Brian Peoples had 5 receptions for 100 yds and 2 TD. The Cardinal pass D has been dominant this season especially in User games as opponents have gone a combined 41-90 for 508 yds with 0 TD and 12 INT in 4 games. They have a couple more conference games before their week 12 showdown with Utah.
