*** ROOKIE SIGNING RULES *** (1) The contract terms must be for what the rookie is asking (default contract) for the number of years that he is asking or increase the salary offered (not years) if the rookie requires an increase in salary over the default contract . You cannot increase the number of years offered. (2) Newly signed draftees cannot be traded. They must remain on the team they are under contract with for at least one full season unless they are released to free agency. Owners are required to verify team salary cap room and roster availability before offering a draftee a rookie contract. Any contract offers that would place a team over its salary cap limit or over its roster limit will be denied. The staff will decide whether to approve or deny all contracts offered. If a contract offer is denied, the reason(s) will be presented so that the owner involved may attempt to alleviate the issue(s) to have the contract processed. If the owner fails to alleviate the issue(s), the draftee will go unsigned and become a free agent.
