The story of the day wasn't that USC struggled but how they struggled. QB John Bennett was streaky for most of the game, having several big plays but for the most part being unable to keep the offense consistent against the below average Northwestern defense. HB Justin Peoples was the main source of offense with 172 yards on 16 carries with a 60 yard scamper in the third. The Air Raid experiment in Los Angeles is needing tinkering, and it should be interesting to see how it shakes out the rest of the year. Without the speedster Peoples, it may have been a very different outcome. Defensively, the Trojans played very well holding the Wildcats to 206 yards of total offense and only 14 of those on the ground. Key Stats: Turnovers: USC 4 NU 1 Rushing Yards: USC 158 NU 14 Next week the Trojans head to hazy Boulder to play the Colorado Buffaloes.
