August 2nd, 2014 Did not think I would be in Fenway this soon but they must have saw the potential. The game was a rough start with Ellsbury hitting an inside the park homerun but to be fair, the CF did drop the ball. I was able to strike out 7 but also walked one and allowed 2 runs total. Big thanks to Gomes for fueling a 6 run 7th inning that provided the win for me. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 7.1 8 2 2 1 7 2.45
August 8th, 2014 Ugly start to this one as I gave up 3 runs in the first but the slightly different controls may have accounted for that. Did manage to strike out 6 included Mike Trout. Ended up with a no decision. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 5.1 2 3 3 3 6 3.55
August 14th, 2014 Earned another win today to improve to 2-0 on the season. They kept me in for 8 innings and I was able to keep them to just 2 runs while striking out 10. Walked a pair but I think my control is getting better, just need to limit walks and be a bit more clutch. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 8.0 5 2 2 2 10 3.04
August 19th,2014 Albert Pujols continues to have my number as he hit another HR off me but I have the rest of the Angels figured out as I struck out 11 today and held them to just two runs. I earned the Win thanks to some run support and the bullpen coming through with some scoreless innings. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.2 6 2 2 0 11 2.96
August 24th, 2014 Can't say this was my best outing, was up in the 80s for pitch count in the 4th inning. Still held them to only 2 runs while the bullpen later allowed them to tie the game but thanks to Gomes we won on a walk off HR. I was slapped with the no decision. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.0 7 2 2 2 6 2.97
August 30th, 2014 Another so-so start, I racked up 8 Ks but also allowed 9 hits but just 2 runs. Got to start keeping my pitch count down early. Other clubs seem to be crushing my curveball lately, time to start upgrading. Final start of August, bring on September. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 5.0 9 2 2 0 8 3.05
Sept 4th, 2014 Not much to say except I pitch great again and end up with a no decision thanks to no run support until after I'm taken out of the game. Getting a bit ridiculous. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.0 5 2 2 0 10 3.04
September 9th, 2014 SP Boros only this to say after the game today: "AGAIN WITH THE NO DECISIONS. AGAIN THE BULLPEN BLOWS THE LEAD I PROTECTED FOR 6.2 INNINGS. AND YEAH I HIT LOMBARDOZZI ON PURPOSE! GET THOSE F**KING CAMERAS OUT OF HERE!" IP G R ER BB SO ERA 6.2 6 2 2 0 4 3.00
September 14th, 2014 Complete. Game. Shut. Out. Finally was able to show off my good stuff against the Royals. Only allowed 3 hits and at one point there were whispers of a perfect game but that didn't come to fruition. Didn't strike out many but it was still a hell of an outing. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 9.0 0 0 0 4 2.55
September 20th, 2014 I don't agree with the decision to give me the loss but I guess that isn't my call. Not happy with the first loss because it could've at least been a no decision but the bullpen blows it again. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 5.2 5 5 5 3 5 3.01
September 26th, 2014 Another loss thanks to being pulled at an awful time. Shutting out the Yankees, allowed Jeter to get a hit and then get pulled. Bullpen allows a grand slam and I am awarded the loss. BS. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 7.1 5 1 1 0 9 2.83
2014 Playoffs Well Boston won the AL East by 2.0 games over the Rays. We faced Detroit in the Divisional Round but unfortunately I was never given a start and the Tigers eliminated us 3-2 after we led the series 2-0. As a Tigers fan I'm glad to see revenge over the Red Sox after the 2013 season but as a Boston player the season has ended a tad too early. The Tigers would eventually lose to the San Diego Padres in the 2014 World Series.
2014-15 Offseason Notes Derek Jeter retires Ichiro Suzuki retires Raul Ibanez retires Octavio Dotel finally retires (as a Brave) Red Sox renew my contract for one year worth $500K
2015 Spring Training Pitched about 26 innings this Spring with a 2-1 record. Kept my ERA at 1.35 and struck out 28 batters while limiting walks. Overall I felt it was successful minus the one game where everything I threw was hit. Optimistic for a great season.
April 4th, 2015 Started off the season with my favorite...a no decision. I'm alright with that though. Still pitched a solid game only giving up a single run and holding the tie until the bullpen was able to finish the game out and the offense came up with a run to win it 2-1. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 7.0 3 1 1 1 5 1.28
April 9th, 2015 First Win of the season today, did give up 3 runs but also protected a 5 spot in the process. Had some great pitches but my Changeup still needs some serious work, batters are hitting it much too well. Also need to work on my pickoff move, a little sporadic at the moment. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.0 6 3 3 2 6 2.76
April 15th, 2015 Either the home plate ump was blind or someone paid him a bonus as several strikes were called balls. Either way I worked my way out of a bases loaded 5th inning without allowing a run and then management decides to yank me after one batter in the 6th inning. Also was given a Hit where the 1B dropped the ball during transfer for a groundout...should be an Error but..it is what it is. No skin off my back today as the bullpen gave up 6 Runs in the top of the 9th to lose a 3-1 lead, long after I was pulled. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 5.0 7 1 1 1 1 2.50
April 20th, 2015 Extra Innings win today. Not sure what was worse, the 5 Walks I gave up or better, the 11 Ks I racked up. Either way I was again handed the no decision (happens a lot apparently) but the team won overall. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.0 2 2 2 5 11 2.63
April 26th, 2015 I feel pretty jipped after this game. I had only allowed 4 hits over 8 scoreless innings. Got pulled after the 8th inning with my PC still favorable. Houston takes the 1-0 lead and then David Ortiz hits a 2R Walkoff HR to win the game for us. 8 innings working my ass off and I didn't get a decision....when will I get decisions? Never? I did get a Quality Start and Player of the Game but it's bittersweet. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 8.0 4 0 0 1 10 1.96
Good thing for you that Win/Loss record has been a less and less important stat over the years to fans/managers.
May 2nd, 2015 Pulled out 8 innings and a W today as we beat the Skanks 4-1. Struck out 9 and allowed just the one run. Always a nice day when you beat the Yanks in their own ballpark. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 8.0 6 1 1 1 9 1.8
May 7th, 2015 Had a great game today, held the Astros to just two hits and pitched a complete game shut out. Starting to earn those Ws and finding more and more command with each pitch. I'm starting to think I can earn an All-Star vote this season if I can keep it up. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 9.0 2 1 1 1 9 1.47
May 13th, 2015 Put in 8 innings of work and earned yet another W to improve to 4-0. Gave up 1 run but it was unearned and didn't affect my ERA thankfully. Struck out 6 Nationals and kept the dangerous Bryce Harper hitless (personal victory). Also learned I am leading the AL in ERA. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 8.0 4 1 0 2 6 1.26 May 18th, 2015 Got pulled after 6 when I allowed the tying run to reach on a double. We still ended up beating the Brewers but I was handed the no decision. Bullpen promptly came in and allowed a run to tie the game though. Luckily our offense was able to bring in some runs and the remaining members of the BP pulled it off. IP H R ER BB SO ERA 6.0 5 1 1 0 11 1.28
May 24th, 2015 Earned my 5th Win of the season while striking out 9 and giving up 2 runs. May 30th, 2015 Got a Quality Start but was pulled after walking the tying run. Luckily escaped with a no decision as Bryan Villareal blew a 2-0 lead and earned the loss. Notables Over the course of this week I started developing a new pitch, the Forkball. At the start of June I lead the AL in: ERA - 1.29 Loss - 0 HR Allowed - 1 WHIP - 0.91 Second in Ks with 88, behind Darvish (94)
