Rule Committee - Urgent Trade Rule Review!

We overlooked something (or atleast I did when I signed off on what we were doing before). Our current rule as stated in the rulebook says only 4 points per trade allowed.

That is way wayyyyyy too limiting in my view. That means:

    1) 3 for 2 deals would not be allowed
    2) Multi team deals are completely out of the picture now as its impossible to stay under 4 points.

I thought when I was signing off it means no more than 4 items per team can be traded at once (meaning i can't trade 6 and get back 3 in one deal).

I'd like to change the rule to state just that: "No more than 4 items may be sent or received by one team in a trade"

I would be ok with up to 4 sent and up to 4 received.

I say we limit to no more than 3 players moved on a team at anytime. So 3 for 2, 3 for 3, 3 for 1, is good. Anything involving 4 players on one team is not allowed.

My hesitation with this is that we are already limiting people to only 8 'player' items (sent or received) during the entire year. That is fairly limiting in itself. I don't think we need to go any further.

I would rather go 3 but I would be in favor of 4.

4 is fine with me, I am totally against teams getting screwed however.

Last year there were some trades that made no sense and left teams hobbled.

Its hard to fill teams when they are in crappy shape, I say we take a hard look and trades and make sure they make sense for both teams.

I hate it when someone destroys a team and then quits.

Our trade committee should be making sure uneven trades like this aren't happening, so we shouldn't have that problem.

I am fine with 3 players per trade. I think that's fair.

    This was never decided.

My vote is for 6 items max per trade. . .this would allow 4-2 deals, but not 5-2 or 6-2 deals. 4-2 seems realistic.

So my vote is for 6 items max per trade.

lol I am so confused. So 10 total, for the whole offseason, but only 8 of those 10 can be players. 6 total in one trade can be done. No more than 4 total deals for the offseason.

So 10 points total for whole offseason
Up to 8 can be players for the whole offseason.
Up to 6 items per trade
Up to 4 trades per offseason or 10 points, which ever comes first.

Every item sent and received counts as a point.

    I could live with that.

    Yes.

However this first year we might think about allowing 10 player points as there is no draft.

I vote for the lowest amount possible. 3 per trade per team. Am I understanding that right? lol

It would be six items total per trade. We can't really allow 3-3 trades but not 4-2 trades.

I am with Jeremy, I am sticking to 8 because 8 is a LOT of players to be 'trading' during a season. Doesn't happen and will force owners to think their whole plan through. 8 is as many players as I will agree too unless someone can sway me with an extremely good argument.
