Since we have so many new members, we wanted to clarify one of the biggest pet peeves of the older members of HK - proper "sim" running play execution. I will try to keep it simple.

So, when you run a HB Dive/HB Slam/HB Plunge/Inside Zone (whatever), here are some examples of how the play should be run -

(Ok - shitty run but you get the point!)

Here are some examples of how the play should not be run -

*if you want to run this way, Lobby East or West is the place for you.

    So, to summarize -

Play designed up the middle (see pic below):

    RED ARROW = BAD
    YELLOW ARROW = GOOD
    [IMG]

Quite simply - Run the play as it is designed and you won't have any problems.
Please let us know if you have any questions. More to come if necessary.....

Nice post. Really, really nice post.

I'm definitely a pound the rock guy and run those plays exactly like example 1 and 2. I do have one question tho. Does this all change If there's a lb or defender coming right up the gut to meet you in the backfield? Usually I try to quick juke and bounce it to the nearest hole but sometimes everything's clogged up. Is it then okay to bounce it outside. I notice in your two incorrect examples the ball carrier pretty much has the intention from the get go to try and hall ass around the edge.

    Nice post again man.

I think it is the intention and how far you run horizontally. If you start the play designed up the middle or off tackle with the intention to take it outside, it isn't in the spirit of "sim" play. You are taking advantage of deficiencies in the game.

To reiterate on what Ry replied to you on...

It isn't about whats in the hole, its about how you hit the hole.

    Thank you.

This definitely isn't something you will see down in Miami.

While I agree to an extent, I am always looking for overpursuing LBs and cutback lanes.

That's different...stretch plays are designed to go East and West, and cutting because of a defender is not intentionally taking the play outside on a dive, blast, iso, etc

I'm referring to cutting it back inside.

    So was he.

What he's saying, we are ok with outside runs cutting up field but, not ok with inside runs being looped outside. It causes the AI to do goofy things.

The cutting back is fine..it's always the dive that someone deliberatly "bounces" that drives me nuts..

That 2nd "not good run" is a little weird, i understand what the concept is, but on that play the defender horse collars him or gets is hands up and seems to sling the runner to the outside when it looks like he is just trying to go up the middle. Just saying sometime those runs get "bounced" outside, the biggest one( i havent really noticed it in '13 as much) is were you get hitsticked and bounce off sometimes that jolts you 5 yards outside i think if you bust a tackle or 2 and break outside thats fair game, in my mind
