HOLY COW! Chicago, IL - The man known in the clubhouse simply as "Demp" now has a new nickname to look forward to. "Mr. Perfect" Ryan Dempster entered the day with a 0-1 record and the highest ERA on the entire Chicago Cubs squad. He finished the day with a perfect game. It took Dempster 106 pitches to complete the perfect game against the Diamondbacks in Wrigley Field on Monday. He finished the day with 7 Ks, striking out the final 2 batters in the 9th inning. The Cubs have really relied on their pitching to win games this season as they are a league leader in team ERA. In the past 3 games the Cubs have gotten brilliant performances out of their starters with Matt Garza throwing a shutout on Sunday and Dempster accomplishing the perfect game on Monday. The Cubs hold sole possession of 1st place in the NL Central and hope to cling to their slim lead in the coming weeks.
